Cool, I have always wanted to meet the owner of DayZ. Can you please tell us your vision for the future of YOUR property?

While I love the idea of Hardcore the main problem is that the view area is much more restricted than actual human sight and the times I have played on it I have been screwed over by zombies running through walls or buildings and hitting me before I knew they were there. I will though play 100% hardcore once you make zombies into actual zombies instead of wall phasing ghosts.

You are fully geared, would you shoot these people?
LimeMobber replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
Let me translate, you were a JERK to a guy who was possibly fighting zombies and didn't want to melee possibly because he has no rags or bandages and with the current state of the game it is VERY hard to kill zombies without getting smacked at least a little and starting to bleed. -

I would shoot the first guy, as far as I know there is no way to know the condition of a guys weapon easily enough to know if he can shoot you or not and if he is just now fleeing some rather bad encounter then he is either freaked and ready to shoot or needing to gear back up and ready to shoot. The second situation I would not shoot, there is no reason. The last situation I would definitely shoot. On average those two guys "protecting" their buddy are going to shoot ANYONE and EVERYONE that comes within shooting range of their buddy or anywhere their buddy is going to do. In fact that last situation is where I am most likely to shoot. Guys like this remind me of FrankieonPC videos. He likes to say play nice or at least say he does but he has a long history of shooting anyone that is a threat and anyone that could be a threat which means shooting the guy that has no clue he is there but happens to be carrying a decent rifle or is heading in the same general direction as him. Basically the guys in your last situation are nothing more than sniper pussys (to use another Youtuber term)who will use their "buddy" as justification to plink away at any available target. -
Why do some players do everything possible to avoid interaction?
LimeMobber replied to mithrawndo's topic in General Discussion
You would be wrong. In a game with instant respawn and no loss other than the loot you can never take away the choice. Why would I want to be a hostage? I have to deal potentially with a bunch of pricks who may or may not just shoot me anyway. My preference is to go down shooting so that you ruin at least a portion of the gear I have and if I am lucky ruin some of your gear if not kill one or more of you. -
They have been handed what? $40 million in cash to design a game that they are not designing from the ground up but are designing by modifying existing games. They have a little less than half the amount of money that Rockstar used to design GTA5 a game infiinitely more complex than DayZ.

The biggest problem is desync/lag whatever it is called. Sprinting at top speed, zombie a good 20 feet behind me and whack I get hit and start bleeding. Hell half the time when they get in close I just start booking it because they are bouncing through walls, teleporting around me so much that even shooting them is a pain. And this is with me always doing my best to pick a zerver with low ping.

I guess Cornwallis should have lined the boys up rank by rank and marched them out to be needlessly slaughtered at Yorktown by your logic.
-
Nice troll there, only an idiot stands and fights when he does NOT know where the enemy is located and the enemy has your location zeroed in well enough to have already taken out two people. Keep talking tough from your sniper perch on the hill.

Bases surely you jest. The developers have yet to add the wedding dress, top hat, and tuxedo to the game. What makes you think they will add bases any time this year.
-
A ghillie suit over normal clothes is going to make a person sweat even under what could be a cool day, it is what happens when you dress in layers. As for the smell, that may no matter, if the DayZ zombies hunt by smell then they may smell more like dogs do which is in layers, their sensitive noses able to smell all the odors not just the strongest. So your heavy grass smell would mask you to other humans but do nothing at all to zombies.
-
Why would a ghillie suit even work against DayZ zombies? According to the game zombies do not see well, they hunt you by smell and hearing. A ghillie suilt will make you sweat more so you will SMELL more which may make you stand out even more to zombies. On top of that I doubt you can move as fast in one (in real life) nor move quickly in one for as long as someone not in one. So a zombie will likely chase you down easier In addition, the suit likely muffles your hearing, and limits your peripheral vision. So while your stinking up the joint wearing one your less likely to notice the zombie that is ambling towards you from the right before he starts smacking you. Then there is one final point. Where would you find one? Suits like this are used by hunters and snipers. So you would find one in a hardcore hunters house, a military base, or a hunting/camping store. The hunters house is likely to be empty, a hardcore hunter left with all his gear the instant he saw zombies and he is maybe 2% of the population anyway. The military base will only have them if a sniper was part of a unit stationed there, snipers are not a common part of the military so their numbers will be way low. Which leaves hunting/camping stores and those are going to be completely looted within hours of a zombie apocalypse. So you have a fairly useless piece of gear that will be very hard to find and only good if you want to murder fellow survivors. In a real zombie apocalypse where the zombies are like DayZ zombies and hunt by sound and smell, not vision, being found with a ghillie suit could be death sentence since it could mean you were hunting your fellow man. I know that if they add it to the game it will join the PayDay mask on my list of items that if I see you wearing one I will shoot you instantly no matter what you are doing.

This is how dumb punching is in this game.
LimeMobber replied to shaeg's topic in General Discussion
I have no problems with knocking someone unconscious with three hits even if they are wearing a helmet. If I sneak up on someone in real life without any gear I will have grabbed a rock, helmet or not your bell is being rung. No rock and your prone shooting someone then I am kicking you in the head, helmet or not your bell is being rung. Cannot kick you then I am grabbing your throat from behind and choking you out, even easier if I have a belt on my pants. Basically think of punching as the generic stand in for all the different things you would do in real life. Who knows, in a few alpha updates we may still have the wall glitching zombies but your new spawn character may be able to sneak up on that newspawn killer and poop on him. -
Day night cycle, especially one that last longer than 15 minutes for the night cycle is stupid. Only a starving moron would go out at night in a world where hungry zombies have bad vision but excellent sense of smell and hearing.
-
Running around 24/7 in a motorcyle helmet is both stupid looking and impractical. Try it for a while, your heaed overheats, your peripheral vision sucks, you cannot eat anything, your hearing is impared, and after a little while your neck hurts like hell. Lets implement some realism here and when we add encumberance also add negatives for people who try to wear uncomforatble clothing all day long.

Proper Evisceration & Decapitation Would Be Nice

I did not realize I was playing the video game equivalent of torture porn. -

LimeMobber replied to Deathlove's topic in General Discussion
Yes, we absolutely need to add pointlessly disgusting content to the game. While we are at it why don't we make the zombies more realistic by making them different ages. Nothing will say immersion like having a 6 month old baby that has been bitten and turned into a zombie crawling after you while you try to reload your M4. <_< -
Before we see bows and crossbows I want to find reloading kits so that bullets can be made more rare.
-
Why does everyone seem to think that a crossbow is a silent zombie killing weapon? Bolts cut and cause bleeding, I don't see the average zombie caring much if it is bleeding. Even if bleeding out kills it that will take time. So while the shot of the crossbow is fairly silent, I would expect the wounded bleeding out zombie to be screaming in rage over being hit. That sound, I would expect, would attract zombies better than a single gunshot will considering it will last a lot longer. Crossbows should be a last ditch weapon that only kills zombies "instantly" if you hit them in the head or neck, hit them anywhere else and the zombie starts searching around while screaming in anger and attracting other zombies. Oh and I laugh my butt off at anyone that thinks it is the uber pvp weapon. I have read comments about how it is silent so it wont give away your position if you miss. Hmmmm.... You shoot me, you miss, the bolt his the wall next to me. Gee, I think it is pointing straight back at the spot the wannabe William Tell assassin is hiding.
-
No reason for the ghillie suit in a zombie apocalypse game. Think about it, if the zombie hordes start attacking who in the military would prioritize grabbing this heavy encumbering and fairly useless piece of equipment. If anything it should be a piece of gear you can manufacture by gathering stuff and every minute you wear it the suit should slowly fall apart. As for the range finder, that makes more sense to have.
-
As long as the game is still in alpha, and possibly well into beta the devs need to add a simple suicide key. Hit it and bam you are dead. I am not sure how you would abuse this but just in case someone finds a way you just add a simple 30 minute cooldown on the key. Anyone that has to use this more than once once or twice an hour is probably trying to cheat.
-
how will this zombie tracking work then?
LimeMobber replied to irl-calibre's topic in General Discussion
Very hard to do at the close range that zombies spawn right now. -
Much more time consuming, now I have 4 different types of pistols, ammo, and magazines to find. Most of the time when I play I am carrying one or two pistols, the magazine to a third different pistol, and the ammo for all of them in hopes of eventually putting together a matched set.

Quick question for all the geniuses here that keep saying over and over again "use your axe". If using your gun anywhere in hearing range of a zombie is going to be an instant death sentence, then why even have guns in the game at all? Sure being loud and using a gun should be a risk but there should be a respawn limit where the same zombie can respawn a maximum of 4 or 5 times then a cooldown goes into effect. That way guns don't become pointless items you only have for killing other players.
