So we are going for true to life? Hmm, then how come there are tons of doors I cannot batter down? How come there are buildings I cannot enter even though GASP they have windows that I could easily shatter. How come my character can freeze to death even though I come across houses with blankets on beds that I could easily take and wrap myself with to stay warm? How come I cannot climb trees? My list could go on and on. Rain is a pain in the butt and not very realistic in a video game. In real life I would find a house, climb into the attic, close the lift up stairs behind me, and sleep until it was morning or the rained stopped. I cannot do this in DayZ because it is a video game. So I can either server hop or play rain simulator. LAME.

Maybe I am off base. Can someone point out another game they had to PAY to play with the understanding that the game wouldn't just be glitch but at times they would not be able to play the game at all? Also can someone who has been around here from the very beginning let me know when the standalone game officially began development and where we should be in development based on the dates given when development began? My honest fear is that if the game is only 30% done and the rest takes about as long as this portion has then we are 2-3 years from a full production release and at that pace DayZ will be completely overshadowed by newer games that develop at a faster pace.

Again I ask TO WHAT POINT? Are you really so damn immature that you want gore for the sake of gore and in the uber cool hopes of OMG playing a "Mature Game".

To what end? What is the point of the gore or dismemberment? The Forest has it but they made it a part of the game since you can make effigies that are supposed to scare away the cannibal natives. But what would be the point of dismemberment in DayZ other than to draw negative attention to the game.

Ouch 30% done on a game that is has been how long in development and has already been handed 90% of the money it is likely to receive to build the game? Not saying they have blown through all the money they received during the huge initial gush when alpha was released but if this, to me at least, does not bode well for this game making it to full production release.

Keep polishing Rocket's knob, but it won't get you a game any faster. In fact at the pace of development the company is going to run out of money before full release is possible or copycat products started long after DayZ are going to be out doing the same thing only better. But please, continue to fanboi if it makes you happy.

Would be cool if they had chopping down trees destroy a fire ax quickly but an actual wood cutting ax much slower. Make you chose the better ax for trees or the better ax for zombies. Hypothermia is out of whack, I was running around on a down jacket, one of those hats with the ear coverings, autumn pants, and nice boots and I would still get the cold indicator any time I spent more than a few seconds in the shade of the forest.

I do not think it does, or the respawn timer is set to such a large number that it is basically irrelevant.

Now that we can cook food I would love to see the game updated to force people to cook the rice or add water to the powdered milk. I cannot imagine ones stomach would much enjoy eating an entire bag of dried rice.
