while I haven't had it happen to me. I have seen a person be one hit by zombies 3 times now. Each time the persons computer was next to mine and I was watching her screen plus we were next to each other in game. Each time I can confirm no other players around. The first time she was hit from behind by a zombie, she didn't have full health but had plenty of colour. Died in one hit. Second time facing the zombie, it leapt at her, she had almost full health, died in one hit. Last time was last night. Facing a zombie with full health zombie hit her once....dead. However this hasn't happened at all to me yet. I suspect it may be that if you are still and the zombie targets your head and gets a full hit in, they CAN 1 shot you. When I face off with zombies I don't stand still, so maybe they are unable to get that super hit in when you are moving???

Pointless game nolonger - or how I learned to love Zombies and KOS players
Tathagata replied to CardinalSins's topic in New Player Discussion
Good info in here and thanks. I have to disagree with this though. I regularly run with a hoe or pitchfork. The reason being is that they do not look at threatening as axes to other players, but can still take down zombies very quickly (2 hits in most cases). Shovels aren't bad either. Under the shovel are baseball bat, crowbar, wrench, etc. I find these things pretty much useless and will prefer to melee zombies rather than use these (its easier to knock a zombie out and keep him knocked out with fists than it is with baseball bat or these other melee items). -
Do bandits really exist on DayZ Standalone?
Tathagata replied to TheModernGamer94's topic in General Discussion
I play as a survivor. I try to talk before shooting unless I see something nasty going on. This has got me killed as many times as ive killed ppl. But that's ok, still fun trying to RP. -
I read them, but never see any with writing on them. I do leave notes now and again, generally things like "Jane, if you read this head north to xx town and look for me there". Was thinking of keeping a survivors diary in my backpack but haven't yet, too busy trying to stay alive.

Dunno if I want to go back to my start in the mod. many days of death after death after death. Watching the counter on the website saying that the average survival rate was 20 minutes and giving myself much congratulations when I made it past that time. Good times, much fear, but go back? no thanks.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Tathagata replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Has anyone else experienced a one hit death from zombies? Had this happen twice to my partner last time we played. She wasn't full health, but certainly was ok. Both times, one hit and 'you are dead'. It was not another player, I was there with her. Admittedly, one time she had her back to the zombie, so maybe a super hit to the head? The other time she was facing the zombie, but the way they glitch around maybe it got behind her? dunno, either way just thought id see if anyone else has noticed this. -
so, firstly, if this game is going nowhere and our money is gone. Rather than come here whining why not just accept the loss and be done with it? Secondly, knowing this is an alpha, and knowing you are the all time alpha tester, then why are you posting all this in the general discussion rather than helping the devs and posting it in the bug reports section? Thirdly, sorry much experienced alpha tester, but ive alpha tested those games you mentioned and a host of others and still don't consider myself an experienced alpha tester that can make demands of a game developer. Lastly, unfortunately this series of discussions highlights for me the difference between people who have played the mod and people who have come to play the SA fresh. The game is all about gearing up. So where you see wasted time and needless loss of items. I see an opportunity to start again and enjoy the process of being a lost survivor washed up on the shores of an unknown beach. In reality, once you learn the game its about 30 minutes to fully gear up again. no big deal really if you want to view it like that. however I can pretty much guarantee you that if you are going to get upset everytime you lose gear to a glitch or something unforseen, then you are not going to last long in this game....why not try out Skyrim instead?

When I first started to play the mod it took me many many goes to survive beyond 20 minutes. Eventually you learn how to be stealthy and avoid zombies and people. I almost rage quit and deleted the game many times. But stick with it, you will get there.

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.
Tathagata replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
yep, knew this. That's why I said it needed to be only what you could see and not to be seen through objects. But yeah point taken, if someone is camo and you were close you could potentially miss them unless a name pops up. -

been watching this thread with interest. To be honest im on the fence on this one. I didn't hate the system used in the mod but can understand why the devs didn't want something similar here. However, I do like the idea of seeing a name. As was said above, if you can keep it to the distance you can actually see, then what are the drawbacks to this? (obviously this wouldn't want to be seen if behind a wall or the like.....maybe that's why its too hard to implement?). If you could see a name then players could start bounties or the like, which would then help any bandit problems that may occur -
Honestly, I had more fun in the game last night than I have in a while. Sure I was cursing and getting annoyed at the lag and constant zombie zerg. I went through tons of ammo, tons of bandages, bled like a stuck pig and ran like a little girl. But what lols were had. Seeing a guy try to sneak up on us at an airfield, only to be swarmed by zombies and then hearing his gunshots for the next 15 mins as he ran, shot, ran, shot, trying to get away from them :) (and then run out of bullets and switch to handgun, hahahaha). Yes, it will be nice when the glitching and lag is fixed.....and TBH last night I kept thinking that it was only recently that I wished for much harder zombies. hahahahaha stupid me :) but I am sure it will be righted soon enough. meanwhile the game has a new exciting element that Im happy to learn to exploit to my advantage. I am definitely regretting listening to the bloody medics that told me to throw out all my alcohol tincture, painkillers, antibiotics, etc. Threw a whole bunch out just the other day :( Now, I have noticed that sneaking doesn't seem to help with the Z respawn and targeting. I tried using axe and sneaky sneaky around last night but they still managed to swarm me. Oh also I think this has been mentioned....but saline bags don't appear to work. The biggest problem I have presently is trying to log out amidst the hordes of zombie attackers. It will be interesting to see if I log in dead next time I play. Overall....thank you Devs, I like this change :)
