ah yeah i think you're right, just tried a default server and i had a much higher framerate initially, yet to test it out extensively though. Thanks for your help

oh sorry about that. yes its just the basic DayZ mod, i also get a big framerate increase during animations such as getting in my truck and picking an item up.

Hey guys, i recently bought Arma 2 to play the DayZ mod, and am enjoying it so far. Whilst playing however, i have noticed some strange FPS drops and have come here to see if anybody can help me or has had a similar issue that has since been resolved. Basically when i enter a server my FPS is fairly decent - about 50+ (by the way i have quite a low end PC and am running on low graphics settings) but within 15 minutes or so it will drop to around 20. The strange thing that i've noticed is that if i open my gear, or bring up the abort menu then the FPS in the background will go back up to 50-60, but as soon as i close my gear then it drops right back down again. If anybody could provide any insight/a fix that would be great. Thanks
