  1. I'm looking for a group as the title says, preferably on one of the newer CCG Overpoch servers. Already started playing on the Panthera one but I'm open. I don't want this to be a TLDR or come off too picky so here's just some quick points: Skillset- cross between competent and easygoing fun bullshitter, not a hardcore milsim guy but if you cant comprehend "Im flankin east" in voice chat then we might have problems Playtime- 7-11pm CST weeknights / wide open weekends Age- 31 I know, I know ancient by dayz standards Voice chat- can handle whatever, TS Skype steam social etc If you're with a clan recruiting or just someone playing on one of these servers lookin for a bud, get back to me
  2. Hey Zarrah, I'm currently playing on the CCG Panthera Overpoch server, it's only a couple days old. Been lookin for some allies myself! If playing on that server (or any of the newer CCG overpochs- Namalsk / Lingor) works for you, let me know here or on steam, in-game whatever go by Foxarrows pretty much every format

    DayZ mod better then Standalone?

Bought the Standalone in February, played it up til April. Then BI had that 75% off sale on Arma 2 CO around late March, thought "heck $6 I'll give it a shot". Been playing mod since then, haven't touched SA at all. Way more variety, via the various submods epoch namalsk etc. More design features. Better game. If I get a hankering for pretty graphics I play Arma 3 mods. Might get back to SA in 6 months if any degree of housing / vehicles are ever implemented

    Brotherhood Of Steel Outcasts Recruitment

Application: Name: Shawn Age: 31 Time Zone: CST Country: US Are you willing to commit to the BOSO?: Sure am Preferred Job: Soldier or Combat Medic sound like ideal starting points, work my way up from there if it comes to it Why do you think you deserve to be in the BOSO: I'm competent at the game and improving daily, tactical squad combat is my favorite element of dayz, and based off your clan descript I know I'd be a good fit.
  5. I think there has been a sort of mini-resurgence lately because of that very sale, I myself had been interested in the mod but was waivering- when I saw it avail for $6 I jumped on it. As someone coming from the Standalone- I can tell you with confidence that the mod has been way more fun for me. Granted, I played SA for 3 months and have only been playing the mod for 2 weeks, so you could argue there is new appeal, but I'm pretty sure it's more than that. There are way more features (aka fuckin VEHICLES), variety, social options, honestly the only significant and clear disadvantage to mod vs SA is graphics- which doesn't bother me at all, game looks fine. Above posters are mentioning a Performance discrepancy, I don't get that at all, SA is more demanding and arguably less optimized- you can spend time improving both with ingame settings and .config adjustments. The game population is solid, if it isn't as thriving as it was in 2013, there's still plenty of servers left- I only play Vanilla and dabble in Origins myself and I never have problems finding servers with 20+ people. If you want to play Epoch you will be even better off than I am, it is hands down the most popular mod version (stateside anyway don't know about euro). I don't care for it personally, too much abundance of supplies and silly stuff like safe zones but that's a thread derail personal crap there so yeah.

    Any Vanilla DayZ Servers Left?

As a followup, I've been playing the Mod for a week now- it currently gets way more of my playtime than SA. More specifically, as BigJames is saying there are a handful of what people refer to as "vanilla" servers. I mostly found them through limiting Commander search to "DayZ" only and then narrowing by looking at the server descript: does it say a bunch of crazy stuff like 100+ aircraft and you start with a SVD etc etc? Might want to pass on that if you are looking for the same experience I am where scarcity is king. Obviously not trying to hate on Epoch-type servers where abundance and high grade military is the focus, just saying that there are a couple options for those of us who aren't into that. I probably haven't even found all of them, but I've been on at least 3 in the past week that are all consistently 30+ players (and on a closing note yes 3480 is currently my favorite)

    Any Vanilla DayZ Servers Left?

Yeah I think a combination of this and the recent Bohemia Arma II -75% sale has led to a lot of Standalone immigrants, myself included. I had never played the mod before but as soon as I had it installed, it's gotten most of my playtime, will be trying this 3480 server tonight if possible.
  8. Is that a magnum in your pants or are you just bambi to see me?

    Pistol Magazines

Agree with OP I feel it would enhance both verisimilitude AND firearm combat balance if Rifles were rarer than pistols. As it is now, I find some variation of a Rifle way before I find a pistol with a matching magazine. Often I could have theoretically equipped a SKS / Mosin / Shotgun with at least 5-10 matching ammo before I have a single magged pistol / speedloaded 357 - anecdotal I know but seems to fall in line with others experience. Just think it would be more fun and interesting, for me at least, if weapons you could snipe with were more scarce. Don't know that pistols themselves need any loot adjustments but Pistol Magazines certainly seem to
  10. I appreciate that they made zombies more of a threat, it matches how I personally want the game to be so selfishly I'm pleased. The added threat via bugginess is not ideal but I guess I am what they refer to as an alphacus (sp?) in that I consider it part of the process and am mostly just happy if I can login and play. Overall I haven't found looting a major city significantly more problematic than pre-patch, but I also have not spent much time in Elektro or Berezino so my experience in that regard is limited. I went to Svetlo with a friend on Regular last night and took my Hardcore char to cherno / balota (because I was bored / suicidal). To address the specific theme of the post, it would bum me out if this encourages more indiscriminate KoS for loot purposes but I see the logic in it. Not that I'm a bleeding heart in-game hero but I find it's more enjoyable if social interaction consists of a variety of experiences and not 90% KoS (whether defensive or predatory)

    DayZ is peaceful

My name's Shawn my Dayz SA alias is foxarrows I play between 7pm and 1am CST, lately I'll be honest it's going on 3-4 hours a night because I'm fully addicted. I like to stick on servers that are below 90ish ping max, that seems to eliminate most of the southwest US and UK unfortunately, but anywhere else should be game. I've gotten to the point where I understand enough about the game where I'm mostly looking for high risk combat situations, but that isn't to say I'm against a fun relaxing loot trek or just bullshitting with some friendly folk getting weird. Assuming I've set it up right there should be a link to my steam profile visible somewhere here, feel free to add me if any of the above floats your boat.
  12. Hi, This is yet another What I Want The Game To Be post. It will be concise and hopefully articulate, but you've been warned anyway. I really dig this game, I'm very excited by it's potential, and like many of you I have strong opinions on what the creators and devs focus should and should not be. 1) Scarcity & Survival My biggest point of emphasis for what I feel drives the gameplay and can make Dayz SA different / new / better than everything else out there. I see the two components as interdependent and equally important. How can it be done? There's already a bunch of suggestions on this very board and others, I wont bog down too much with repetition, stuff like- =deadlier and/or higher qty of zombies =less vital resources in general =environmental threats cold, wet, etc =hostile wildlife (unlikely anytime soon I know) 2) Residence / Vehicles I'm tying these two together because referring back to my Grand Vision of Scarcity they are all conceptually linked. VEHICLES - I see them as a necessarily evil, I'm not particularly excited about having them in game because it conflicts with how I (selfishly) want the game to be- about difficulty, survival, resource mgmt. and the excitement of threats to your life / time investment. But I recognize that without them traversing the map is just a giant pain in the ass and at some point after months of playing even the most masochistic hardcore Realism nuts of us would get disgusted with the idea of a 30 minute run from the Northwest to Coast regions. SO my hope is that in terms of vehicles they maintain a theme of rarity and undersupply. I'm hoping the most we ever see are bicycles, motorbikes, and potentially a couple old beaten Eastern Bloc cars. Nothing military grade. Also I hope that maintenance and acquisition would be legitimately difficult- keeping in line with verisimilitude and scarcity. Same principles for "player housing", except in this case I am not against in it in any way. What I'd like to see are: setting authenticity: keep it to tents, shacks, and/or boarding up existing infrastructure. NO grandiose forts / towers please scarcity: back in line with the above. let's make the resources for building these dwellings hard to get and let's make them somewhat hard to repair Ok at this point I'm in danger of violating my promise of being concise so I'll wrap up by saying I realize this entire post is both selfish and quite possibly a giant waste of time in terms of it being feedback that ever reaches anyone who has a say in the matter. Surprisingly I don't care about the latter, and for the former I just hope I'm not as completely in the minority as I think. Thanks for reading
  13. Could not agree more with this specifically. Also find myself on board with your main premise of Threat - Survival driving the gameplay experience, even if we aren't in 100% alignment on the Hows and Whats of it
  14. I spammed a random combination of sprinting into / laying prone and sidecrawling against the wall. Which, oddly enough, I had been trying for ten minutes prior to writing the original post but hey, that's dayz right? I will be avoiding that type of house forever in the future, I made a sketch of it and hung it up on the wall right near my homemade map of Chernarus
