most, if not all, servers have this patch installed. It was at least 2 mission file revisions ago. It was a feature added by an ArmA 2 OA beta update. I do remember hearing about that and I always have the latest update, but I was afraid to test it out. Thanks for the info though.

Hehe, I knew there was a chance of being accused of logging off to avoid death but I didn't disconnect as soon as I saw the player. I spent a few minutes crawling through the grass to a place I could hide and waited and watched until I felt it was pointless to just hang around or wander around the island more with possibly multiple players much better armed than I was. I'm wondering how long I would have had to wait before my logging off wouldn't be considered an exploit or cheating? If it is wrong I would like to know how I should have handled it... It was several hours later when I decided to log back on and it was at night. I went back to check out the tents mainly for a water bottle and possibly a jerry can. I know I probably could have survived with out the NVG but I knew I was going to be vulnerable fueling and using that noisy boat to get back to the mainland so I took them to hedge my bet.

Nope, no server hopping for me. I'd rather spend my time playing the game. Well I had no luck (except 1 can of soda) Looting the buildings. I started exploring today and after a while I spotted a group of tents in the woods...then I saw there was a player by one of them. I went prone right away and it looked like he was moving in a frantic way and thought he might have spotted me. I crawled in the tall grass toward some rocks and trees near the shore while using free look and hid my self well between the rocks and trees and just looked around for a while to see if he was searching for me. After a few minutes of that I decided to log off as it wasn't safe to move around the island. Later, I got back on the server and it was pretty dark. I decided to risk taking a look at the tents again hoping no one would be there. I was lucky. I found a jerry can to fuel my boat, a pair of NVgoggles, a map, GPS and that desperately needed water bottle. There were lots of military grade weapons but I left those.I only took what I needed to survive. I then fueled my boat and made it safely back to the mainland. Day 12 for my current life/character and my best adventure yet. Thanks again for the advice.

Sex Change?? Camo not working with female.

The hospital in Cherno offers sex change operations. You need to bring a friend with a knife though. -
Thanks for the info guys. Very much appreciated. I think I'll hang there for a while and see what I can find. I realized I have 11 sodas so I should have plenty of time to explore before I leave the island.

Because it tries to be a game, but with super-realistic influences. And while the devvers tried paying attention to the numerical correctness of the bullet drop, damage of the caliber and speed of vehicles, it's just generally not a nice game to play or a nice engine to play in. The context menu is on a user-based experience so far from quick and good gameplay, I highly doubt they even have taken a look at it. Another thing is how the zombies jump around after being triggered, because of the client taking over the pathing to reduce server lag, it creates such a glitchy experience, it's completely ripping someone out of his immersion. Same as zombies going around buildings. Just a grasp of so many bugs it doesn't make Arma2 itself a nice "game" at all. And half-assed simulator since it can't never be as good as a dedicated simulator, rather than a game. (And I must say, from all the numerical correctness, I've got to say a heli flies REALLY unrealistically. You can wiggle all back and forth without noticing this in the flying path. Rather ridicioulous, DICE seems to be better in achieving that in their battlefield series.) Again, as a disclaimer for people reading this post for the first time, IT'S MY PERSONAL VIEW ON THIS, YOU CAN THINK THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE. Feel free to like it yourself, I won't harass or blame you for that as well. Disclaimer for the disclaimer: I'm getting very careful on expressing personal opinions on public boards :P Arma 2 is an infantry sim for the most part. The armor and aircraft are not meant to be accurate simulations. Arma 2 is based on an actual mil sim that the army uses. Not sure how much you've played it, but it really takes an effort to appreciate the quality of arma as apposed to the typical fps out there.

I made a similar suggestion recently for having the option to group up with another person. The option would appear in your action menu when you get close enough to another player and there would also be the option to leave group. By grouping up you would see the square icon for members of your group and would also allow for using group channel for chat. This is a feature already built into Arma 2.

The zombies are against long term weather conditions?

I know there is a lot of player killing in this game and some of it is just for sport, but I was curious if the larger groups of organized bandits ever take prisoners? It would be interesting to have all of your supplies taken away and kept as a prisoner...possibly placed in a small building with barbwire over the door. It would be fun to try to figure out how to escape. And I'm sure it would be fun for the bandits to use the prisoners for zombie bait, entertainment (like having hatchet fights to the death) Etc. Does this ever go on?

Not sure if this has been mentioned before? (I have read alot of the threads in this board). I suggest the option of grouping up with another player and by this I mean when you get close to a player you get an option in your action menu to group with that player so you are recognized by the game as a team. This would allow the use of group chat channel for better communication. If your not going into the game with friends on TS this might be a nice way to join with people you don't know and have TS quality comms. Also, there should be an option in the menu to leave the group any time you choose.

Good point. I wanted to add, I like the idea of being able to fill a canteen when it rains...even if it takes a while to fill.

It would be nice to be able to drink from a pond, but also stand a chance of getting sick from the unpurified water.

Frequently hotfixes making the game unplayable.

Then you simply revert back to an earlier beta version. I've had to do it a few times...very easy. -

You should have a flashlight in your pack. Also, you can try turning up your gamma and brightness all the way and set your HDR to Very High.

I thought the update was going to be alot harder. I've only been playing for maybe four days and I'm still learning alot. I found it quite easy to get through any town and loot. You just need to take it slow and stay prone and be careful not to get too close to any of the infected. You also need to know your controls well too. BTW, I prefer to go in using stealth. It seems more realistic and immersive. There is more tension, kind of like a Romero film or the Walking dead. Remember this mod is a simulation and that's what,s so great about it...the realism. If your just going to run in like a halfwit you may as well just play Mario Brothers.

Arma 2 is "the game" and dayz is a mod. Arma 2 is a military sim where you usually find your self going into battle with an assault rifle or such. Using a hatchet for a melee attack wouldn't be part of the deal so I wouldn't be surprised if this sort of function wouldn't work well based on the game design. But if it could work, I would be all for it.
