    Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251

    There's a large difference in scale between the 50 or so experimental servers connected to a small hive and the thousands of stable servers. It's never a 100% sure thing especially in an Alpha. With the previous patch to stable which re-introduced rubber banding and desyncs this was the case. No matter how much testing they would've done on experimental this bug would've never shown up. And that's the thing, they have stable and experimental but you mustn't forget that the game itself is still in alpha

    400 meters or so, but I don't set myself up specifically for long range shots as mostly I'm covering for me friend(s) so I tend to prefer a distance I know I can hit for certain.

  4. Yup, but even at the maximum of 128 you'll still notice not all sounds are playing. The sound system desperately needs an overhaul.

    Always be on guard, even if there's only one other person in the server, 260 square kilometers isn't really that big.

    Concerned about the Sawn Off

    Pre-patch I had killed 2 guys with the sawn off, single shot pretty close range (both were about 5 to 8 meters roughly) but the aiming is a tad strange if you're not used to it. I haven't had the need to use it since it got nerfed but I doubt it's THAT useless but more or less either a range or an aim issue.

    Arma3 Third person fix mod...thoughts?

    The problem I've always felt with third person was the fact that it encourages a very passive play style, i.e. you take position on rooftop lie down and can pretty much see everything without danger. in terms of pvp this is a horrible concept as it grants much more power to the camper then they already have. It's not even a discussion about preference tbh, more one about balance. back ontopic though; I like the idea of the mod but I feel it's presented in an uncanny way, isn't there a way to "darken" the area you can't see kindoff similar to how zomboid works, it's doesn't have to be entirely black but rather greyish, at least some form of representation of what you can and can not see.

    Wich vehicles do you want to see in the SA?

    I really hope they either increase the map size even more or add detrimental to driving top speed, since the cars in the mod could probably generate enough speed for lift-off if they were given wings. (it's a post apocalyptic eastern European country so rocks and potholes should really be discouraging driving super super fast) ^ same goes for a helicopter but I think weather and wind, availability and technical skill requirements will hopefully play a solid role there. The again I really enjoy the slow pace DayZ forces on you and I know a lot of people who don't. anyway since I haven't seen anyone suggest this but quad bikes, they should really fit in well. Also maybe some ancient soviet era amphibious vehicles/ military ones, although they should be very rare imo.

    Speculation about "coming" loot system(s)?

    The problem I see with limiting loot is that if there are 4 NVG's and 4 people possess them when those 4 aren't playing there's no way of acquiring one, heck if they quit playing there's no way of getting one unless things reset . I'm pretty sure the devs realize the restrictions on something like a centralized loot spawn system I just hope it's done in a dynamic way, or that the "lesser" alternatives are still plentiful and fun.
  11. You use the now available v? I've changed it as well putting the "raise" on one of my mouse buttons, makes much more sense and is less cumbersome not that I jump all the time though.

    Found a the anti-stabbing vest as well but since I'm a hoarder and it doesn't provide any slots (or any other benefit at that) I just ditched it somewhere along the road.

    By painting it, not sure if it needs to be in a specific order but black + green spray paint are required. -edit: looked it up, doesn't matter which order, just paint it one colour then the other and it'll show up camo'd.

Also take a look at actual hunting crossbows, yes you can mount accessories..

    Shooting while sprinting

    I understand where this is coming from, if you're in a location with little protection and you're getting shot at it'd be nice to lay down some rounds in an attempt to make them cower behind their cover while you sprint for your own. optimally talking about suppressing fire as in retreating or advancing in a team composition you'd want the guy running to just run instead of wildly spreading his ammo across the land while everyone else takes shots/suppresses. Pretty much this, you'd be making tons of noise and wasting boatloads of (currently not so precious) ammo but at least it offers a chance to move into a better position. Though I wouldn't consider it a priority.

    It's important to note that in the -current- build of the gam ezombies also die from being shot in the foot, once. This will be adjusted obviously as balance is not a priority atm for the devs but compare it with a gun and it's exactly the same. You shoot them in the chest? tough luck. It's the head you should be aiming for anyways. In that regard a bolt to the face should net you the same result as a bullet without the loud bang echoing throughout town. Reading through the thread I've not seen anyone call it an "uber pvp weapon" I read a lot of people who want to use in pvp since it kind of is elitist, you need to get close you need stealth, actually getting in the correct position to fire the xbow is going to be a challenge of it's own and it's exactly that which some people (most) seek in this game; a challenge. Whether that means abiding by your own rules or simply trying to follow the games is a personal preference. If you fire a bolt from it's effective killing/hitting range you shouldn't be missing anyway, if you miss with a gun you obviously will be better off since you don't need to reload after just one shot, but that's a trade-off most crossbow users know. I think a lot of people underestimate the killing potential of the crossbow in mid-range situations, it's not going to be a reliable tool when it comes to pvp but it's going to be damn nice when the zed count increases to take down that single pesky zed looking in the wrong direction that would otherwise call his friends and come storming at you.
