Noticed it on multiple occasions, I often play with a group of friends, and more often then not even though we are in the same vicinity some of us would hear the gunshots while others don't, this seems pretty random and doesn't seem affiliated with our audio setup (5.1, 2.1,7.1 headsets/boxes etc...) it's most unpleasant. Especially when it's already difficult to pinpoint the location from where these shots come from.

Why does the cross bow do more damage than the m4?
DedicateDdos replied to taco86's topic in General Discussion
This thread has derailed into "hur dur guns do damages ", "hur dur crossbows do damages too" When actually in-game a bullet shot that would penetrate your stomach and would be mean death without proper medical treatment is actually patched with some bandages. A few dayz ago I got shot at 4 metres by a shotgun in my legs, "realistically" my legs would be blasted to smithereens but a shot of morphine and pow-wow I was running for miles again never to be bothered by it ever again. There's a point at which realism is sacrificed in favor of fun. Crossbows add flavor and thus they're fun, not for you maybe but for others. Anyways, this discussion started about an unrepresentative value "damage" which is tentative to change since none of the things in-game have been balanced ie.: an axe hit to your body only leaves you bleeding, you have no organs, morphine cures fractures, etc... Can we focus on making the game fun rather then strive for ultimate realism as the latter one is practically un-achievable due to the game engine/design? edit: I'd like to add that dayz is a hardcore survival game but: hardcore=/=realism, just wanted to get that out there. -
While we're on the subject; When your friend hears gunshots, but you don't (or the other way around). I don't mind random zed noises etc. But life threatening noises not getting played is something that shouldn't happen. Especially in a survival game. We later found out these shots were actually getting fired at us, so we ran.

please tell me rocket wont be adding horror aspect to the game
DedicateDdos replied to bioned's topic in General Discussion
Aah this game reminds me so much of Stalker, just the the atmosphere and so. Good times, going deep down the dark research facility not knowing what to find. and then suddenly stuff started flying. -
so is some of the foods bugged on EXP?
DedicateDdos replied to gannon46's topic in General Discussion
I thought it was the accelerated time, which caused accelerated starvation and completely negated the effect of eating and drinking. Until I found some cans. So I guess I was just wasting time stuffing my face with fruit and cola's. -
Does anyone have an steam acc with dayz?
DedicateDdos replied to AwesomePixel's topic in General Discussion
Not sure if this is allowed, and even then I wouldn't trust a first poster. -
You'll find plenty of people travelling between Cherno and Berezino if you stick to the coast, the other hotspots would be the airfields.

Honestly what's this about the shotgun, just yesterday I blasted someone to smithereens with a single shot from a sawn off, they're still effective you just need to get close and personal. edit: I feel it's more likely it'll cause fractures and/or knock someone out then outright kill them or cause bleeding, though I can't say for sure. Back ontopic though, I feel camping and waiting isn't always the best course of action, people kind-off expect this and will circle around. Sometimes grabbing the initiative is better, at least it worked for me so far. My HC char is still alive after multiple encounters now. I understand you try to be friendly but sometimes you'll just have to apologize and go pull a trigger not everyone is speaking the truth not everyone is a friendly, not everyone wants or needs help. Had they really been friendlies they would've backed off. Also I'd add to never invite someone into your building with something like "don't enter with weapons drawn" it takes a fraction of a second to see whether or not they have their weapon when they're entering and that's something these bandits don't need to consider, they were out for blood, you weren't so don't handicap yourself like that, just tell 'em to leave. As a last piece of advice one of them was talking to you so you'd be distracted and they could pin your location, so stop talking and at least try to fight, as a medic it's not your duty to save everyone. In fact the first thing that's most important as a medic, firefighter, cop, lifeguard or any other person that comes into a dangerous situation trying to save others is this: "your own safety above and beyond all takes priority" in DayZ this may mean shooting others.

What stage of post apocalypse is dayz at
DedicateDdos replied to ld-airgrafix's topic in General Discussion
Cannibalism is going to be implemented at some point, as has been stated. But they don't want to make it an easy accessible mechanic otherwise you'd see everyone and their dog eat humans before too soon. Currently there's not really a way of telling how things will develop since they're still working on the map etc... but the current items spawn system is a placeholder, same goes for item quantity and the condition they're in. I wouldn't be surprised if a year from now food and weapons will be scarce, would be a damn shame of the hunting and crafting they want to implement otherwise. -
Of course there's a limit, not going to deny that. but in a videogame you make trade-offs; ramp up the amount of polygons and create an area most people will lag in or forsake the idea and create a far more cleaner area that's somewhat playable etc... I wasn't so much referring to the zeds as to the fact it' a videogame :P

Unless the text was red, then it's legit. You may have been slightly maimed by a zed. Though I have to add I was running through a field once with my friend when the server restarted, when we logged back in I had a broken arm, so there's no way of really telling.

Soon I'll be able to retire my gun and go farm. I've already found a decent barn with a nice shed. No more violence for me. Anyway trying to get logic inside a game about zombies isn't the best way to enjoy it. Especially cause it's a game about zombies.

So after roughly 300 hours since I trusted my last random person...
DedicateDdos replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
I've got a similar story, My friend had been killed and after a short gunfight I managed to down the perpetrator, this is one when this pretty cool guy popped up, we talked a little (I explained what happend) and then I proceeded to covered him while he looted both my friend as well as the other dead fella. I invited him to join up with me and my friend because "the more the merrier" and we hauled over from Berezino towards Solnichy Since my pal spawned around Elektro and it's a pretty long run obviously. When we finally joined together I popped a bullet in his head, apologized, and returned my friends gear to him. He truly was the friendliest mule I had met so far. -
Morphine mate, you can find up 3 of these little fracture healing sticks in those wooden medical buildings. And with the spawn of loot fixed you should find more wooden sticks if you know where to look. Zeds are strong now since there aren't many of 'em, and I'm sure they'll nerf the individual zed in favor of larger numbers. But honestly haven't really broken my legs that many times. What glitching are you referring to ?

One day I got hit by a single bullet, ruined my jacket, vest and pants. Everything else inside of those was a-okay, not sure how that bullet went though, funky trajectory system there.

How often do you find a Long Range Scope?
DedicateDdos replied to TheRealDen's topic in General Discussion
With the amount of loot found in military camps on a newly reset server I'd say not even "ultra rare" military loot such as the LRS is difficult to find. Give or take the 20 minute run towards one. -
What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
DedicateDdos replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
At least with DayZ SA they've promised to redouble their effort to catch and stop hackers. but yeah most "hacker" are scriptkiddies who download their virus infested hacks from some vague forum, and then they're mad and surprised their accounts got banned. -
The Public Hive- Am I the only person who likes it?
DedicateDdos replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
I guess that only made sense, and in a way is a good thing I suppose as it kind-off guarantees longevity in terms of support. -
Cool didn't know, thanks for clarifying that. I'm generally weary of lending things out to "friends" ever since I've gotten my runescape account stolen by one, that's a scar made many many years ago that'll never heal. Family however is more difficult to get rid of

DedicateDdos replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
On that note, as I've been wondering does BIS earn money from the servers these private companies host? Considering their outrageous price per month/slot. -
no,no,no he wanted to continue "testing" duping, it's for testing purposes, really.

The Public Hive- Am I the only person who likes it?
DedicateDdos replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
+1 for the public hive, it really works well with the way DayZ is set up, it still needs some fine tuning though but I'm sure the devs will works this out eventually, and I'm looking forward to how they're going to fix the ghosting when persistent objects get implemented. eventually private hives will be introduced and everyone's personal need will eventually get catered to as well. All in all it's a "watch and see"-scenario where a lot depends on how well the devs can work out their idea's. -
Not exactly, consider the games you own as each being a unique cd that's required to run the game, and you're lending this out (without the fear of never seeing the cd back) Obviously it's to prevent people from sharing their library with multiple others and thus avoiding everyone buying a copy My only issue is that when you're playing a different game the shared members can't play another game as well (i.e. if I'm playing rust my brother can't play Ass creed etc..) but it's really only meant for family so people can segregate their saves and characters (preferably) on a single pc without having to share accounts as well.

Yup pretty much.
