I played on that single experimental hc server a few days ago for a couple hours. Went through about 5 villages barely making it to the next one each time. Hopefully in the future that kind of challenge becomes more common on hardcore servers.

Imo out of game comms is a form of cheating. OP all you can do is try to be more stealth, don't go looking for a fight and if you get into trouble try to figure a way out. I'm sure it seems boring at first, but there have been many times a group tried to hunt me down and I slipped away without a scratch, for me that feels just as awesome as winning a gun fight. If all the new players just want to roam around the map with their clan picking fights with solo players then we have to make sure they don't get what they want

"New players" reaction to this patch is just like..

Game freezes and He Man sings "What's going on". What is happening?

It's alpha OP deal with it Seriously though if this isn't a troll then your pc has probably been hijacked. You are likely experiencing some kind of root kit. Virus scanning software is unreliable, your only real option is to format your hdd and reinstall windows :( You can open the add/remove programs menu and look for anything that seems out of place and try to remove it, but honestly formatting is the only guaranteed fix. -
How is this thread not sticky yet!!?!

I am simply suggesting anyone that thinks the standalone is 'full retail price' is a moron. And he is probably the same moron that spent $200 on battlefield and it's dlc -

'Full retail price' morons please try to remember people are paying $60 for boring cookie cutter console ports. Now we pay HALF that price for the SA, or even less for other great pc games. The only stupid people here are the ones that think they paid $60 for the standalone. I paid $30 for the standalone, which is $3 less than what I paid for the arma 3 alpha last summer, that is now a $60 game that gets free content updates. BI is a shining example of the future of pc gaming. As far as I'm concerned you all can gtfo back to battlefield on your xbone. Maths is clearly not being taught in schools anymore -
Best thread ever?

Good points and thank you for the texture pack OP. I played the mod, enjoyed it, but wasn't hooked like many of you guys. Instead I was really into base building in wasteland mod... Imagine if the towns were the only places that were potentially safe, with the terrifying wilderness like OP described. I'm not taking about no combat zones like some people have asked for, rather low/no zombies spawns in towns. Traveling hordes that move from town to town raping them like we players do now, and they respawn randomly in the forests or something. Instead of towns being used as tdm_elektro/Where's Waldo loot edition, players would group up in and fortify the towns. I imagine most of the pvp would then happen between communities, for example if I were part of the elektro community and our walls were falling apart/no ammo, then we're going to scout cherno. See that cherno is way more fortified and populated and then the elektro community has the toughest decision to make. Do we sneak in and fight the cherno community to steal their supplies? Do we try to set up trades, or is it so bad that we have to abandon elektro and ask to be assimilated into the cherno community? If any of you have gotten into wasteland then you can probably picture what I'm talking about. After 3 hours of building up your teams base in wasteland you either stay in your cozy walls defending, or you go out and bring something back for the team. Anyways it's just something i think would bring dayz to the point of endless fun, and this thread seems like the right place to bring it up for the first time. -
Hey hello! I had to make a forum account to share this story from last week. It was pouring rain just before sunset on one of the Dallas experimental servers. I spawned in the small houses area of elektro and started looking around. Doors all open, only some oddly colored hats left. Until this moment I have tried to avoid being in elektro, sprinting past usually. Being a fresh spawn I decided why not explore a bit. So I headed over to the docks, found nothing of interest, and moved to the apartments area. I always close doors behind myself but due to the experimental lag one front door wouldn't close for me, after about 10 seconds of fiddling with it I realized I was being an idiot and needed to loot this building and gtfo. So I run up to the 3rd floor, found some ammo, then decided to check the 2nd floor. I walked into one of the rooms and saw a nice baseball cap. I went over, put it on and as I turned to the door all I can see is a man with an even nicer baseball cap than myself, pointing a shotgun at my head. I immediately put my hands on my head and started typing to him about the ammo I had just found. Mid typing he shuts the door to the room were in, and glanced out the window. I dropped the ammo on the floor and told him I had a bit of food too. He calmly takes out handcuffs, and slaps them on, not saying a word back to me. All of a sudden my crowbar is replaced with a machete. Then he starts eating all my food in front of me. He walked out the room after eating and left me alone in there. I wiggled out of the cuffs and ran out to see where he was, he stood at the front door with his shotgun pointed up the stairs and backed out, then shut the door. I quickly spammed thank you in the text chat a few times, then moved to the next building. I bumped into him again later at the school/office/whatever just as I had finished looting it. I said thank you again and lead him to a fire axe and mosin I had spotted in the stairwell. As he grabbed the new weapons I said thanks one last time and got the hell out of elektro. I logged out shortly after my escape, utterly impressed by this mans patience and skill. tldr: this guy was a real bandit, not some kid that sits on a hill next to a road, shooting at fresh spawns as they pass. I'm assuming he watched my movements, once I slipped he pounced.

I think because I put my hands up immediately and was moving around crouched the entire time I was in elektro, he figured I wasn't a noob and didn't need to explain anything to me. When he shut the door to the room we were in, I knew for sure I was going to be robbed, possibly poisoned. Who shuts a door and then shoots the person right? I heard gunshots in the distance so it's very possible he didn't want to use his mic, and if I were robbing someone I definitely wouldn't risk typing..

When persistent items are introduced I think the notes will become more popular. I haven't found a single player written note yet. I typically keep a pen in my bag and any piece of paper I find I quickly just write 'bitches leave' (from the original robocop)

Pillock they deserve it, sure, but a lot of those players claim to be bandits when really they're just boring kos campers. Sistinas he never spoke to me ever, over mic or text chat. That to me made him seen like a real pro. His actions spoke for him. Rick, I was suprised and had no control over the situation. I'm not experienced in knocking other players out so he probably would have put a shell in my head for attempting it. I had nothing useful so the interaction seemed like a better option than trying to fight him with my fists. Bigodevin, I thanked him for letting me go. Could have taken everything and shot me but instead he replaced my weapon and left me with a few random items including a can opener. Also I forgot to mention he built me an improvised backpack.

You can read some of the dumbest comments on the whole Internet, right here in this thread. It's like listening to a child try to explain something their friend told them -
Thanks guys, I couldn't not share it! I would recommend being robbed by that fellow 10/10 :)

Sorry about that Irish, accidentally hit submit :P
