When the time comes for gameplay balancing...
TheFarm replied to Dagwood's topic in General Discussion
Great post, I'm sure almost everyone will agree with you. In addition to all of that I would really like to see military bases be the most difficult zones with huge swarms of armored zombies, followed by wilderness with infected bears and wolves. Towns could become completely player controlled, where some towns may kill you at the gate and others will hand you bacon and a gun, and tell you who their enemies are. There is nothing that is actually scary in the towns now anyways, but walking through the woods and military bases is already terrifying but not difficult enough. -
More importantly why is that font supported on these forums

Wtf did I just watch

Or crap ati cards. Intel/nvidia is much more reliable from what I've experienced with both brands.

Enjoying the view while I study.

Beans for creeping and a cool topic. I personally find relaxing in dayz to be almost impossible -
It's not exactly planned. Dean said at rezzed that they are testing to separate the renderer from the game. That would make it possible to bring dayz to Linux and OSX. So you probably won't see it on Mac for some time, but there is a good chance.

I think the actual menu setting for AO broke some time ago, so if you had it on it stayed on, if it was off then you would have to set it by hand in the profile cfg.
-
AO setting didn't work at all until the most recent stable patch. In his rezzed presentation Dean said that they're tweaking the HDR to work better in dark situations, I'm sure that once that is improved you won't be able to notice AO artifacts as easily. Also turning on AO certainly shouldn't give you a performance increase. At the same time it's a relatively simple post process effect so you probably won't notice a performance decrease with it on.

I played on the experimental servers a bit last week, the guaranteed messaging seemed to be working perfectly for me. I also found a nice log cabin style pub or something near svetlo, of course there was no loot in there on the 100 man server.
-
I have read people arguing that as well, most of them seem to think gear collected on a private server means gear they can use on another private server or the public hive.
-
No they're not the same. Bandits understand the game they're playing and are very good at it. Kos players have no idea what's going on besides the fact that there are guns in the game. So they think "ill just shoot stuff then I win?"
-
Lately I've been playing on low pop servers solo giving myself plenty to do without any idiots around to ruin the fun. For example I recently started an all bacon and beer diet on my stable regular character. Refusing to eat disgusting fish and beans makes it that much better when I find the delicious canned bacon. I'm hoping private servers can counter the terrible community. If the servers in the mod are any indication, then if the morons can spawn with an m4 and gas mask they will join those servers, while players like us will hopefully find a decent mature only server. At the very worst I will host my own private server and just play it single player. I'm also hoping h1z1 takes a lot of the flavor of the month players away when it launches.

Some pieces of paper spawn with writing on them. Possible stash clues?
TheFarm replied to teapot156's topic in General Discussion
Definitely not a feature then, I'd bet it was either your friend that wrote it or the server maybe had a bug/wasn't actually restarted. If you were on experimental then I would have assumed they're working on persistent objects, starting with paper. -

Were you on experimental or stable branch -
The melee weapons are a joke right now. There is nobody talking about it anywhere, not even the community. Surely you can kill any human with a bat or machete in a little less than 20 swings to the chest. I like to think the new physics stuff will fix this, but nobody has brought it up at all.
-
All of the threads I see end with something like "find a fireaxe noob problem solved" I basically was hoping that in one of the many conventions that the dayz team recently attended, and the roadmap they revealed, that they would say "hallelujah you can effectively kill stuff with a hammer"

Can we expect to find anything out from PAX?

How do you think DayZ Standalone is going?
TheFarm replied to Zedertone's topic in General Discussion
Needs more bacon -
At EGX I think Dean said that they started working with the guy that set up the arma 3 movement system. Hopefully he includes some form of this stances system, I find it very useful in arma 3.
-
You can run arma 2 no problem, but if you are using low settings for the SA then you might struggle with arma 3.
-
The arma 2 inventory system is horrible compared to SA inventory imo. For that reason alone I won't be returning to the mod ever again.
