StarLord, how could you give your beans to such a stupid comment? The fucking reallifecard, really? I dislike the OPs post, but this one even more. Tatanko has already said everything there is to say, I shouldn't even have bothered...

Where can I find a press vest these days?
Khanarac replied to aquamonkey's topic in General Discussion
You're confusing it with a antistab vest ryanh. Also HCvests seem to provide me with protection. -
Not another town....the dam was always there.

@OP, i feel the same. I wanna play but I can't There ARE tons out there, I got killed by hackers 4 times yesterday and just now after 2min being logged in in cherno. My most recent death: I logged into one of the big cherno buildings with doors at the front and back, blue outside doors and a shop, 3 floor building. I wanted to run out the backdoor that was already opened and right before I should step outside I stop because I wanted to take the raincoat Ive seen in the shop, in that moment I hear a mosinshot very close by and I'm like "mh....that seems like he knew I was coming, like he can see through walls." I take the raincoat and leave at the frontside of the building, standing behind an opened door, peeking outside. Mosinshot, dead. At this point, if you don't hack in dayz, you are longing for frustration.

They don't take reports of hackers. Don't bother. I got killed by hackers 4 times yesterday and once just know 2min after logging in. They want evidence of new tools used by hackers, not evidence that someone did use a hack. And getting evidence of a new hack used is barely possible when you are at the receiving end.

Was afraid to play since hearing about cold problems but then...
Khanarac replied to huf757's topic in General Discussion
Dear americans, the whole world uses degrees Celsius, please do so too :P -
Seriously though, why can't we? Because it's alpha? Why not start taking reports and pursuing the baddies before the launch of 1.0. Wouldn't that make the game better at launch? Imo that's the worst thing about the hacking. The certainty that you know there is no one to take your report to. IF BE doesn't catch them, no one will manuanly ban them. And why do they not have access to movement logs but they do have that in the mod? I would imagine it would be build into that Arma 2.5 engine that dayZ SA started as. BEdev-Sable Survivor BattlEye Staff216 postsSent 13 April 2014 - 05:47 PM We cannot ban anyone based on third-party evidence, I'm sorry. And no, we do not have access to movement logs. It would be interesting to know what exact hack (provider) he used.[Way too many] and counting... "Fuck that battleeye dude. In the mouth with a 7.62 round. Let us hack in peace! Let *** work on other things!" Boneboys, understand that players are not only concerned about reporting new hacks to bohemia, but we want the cheaters themselves erased. Please make logs readable. When the announcemt of private shards came, I had some hope regarding this. But how are we supposed to kick cheaters off our private shards if we can't access logs? Why would we rent private shards if we can get abused by cheaters on our own whitelisted servers, when we have no means of knowing and kicking the guy off the whitelist who hacked.
-
Well they locked the topic because basicly every report or rant about hacking got merged into that topic. Of course that leads to an unproductive topic. But they seem to blame the forumusers for the locking of this topic. What do they expect when there is no one to go to once you've been hacked? People go on the forum to let off steam. It's also a random hive of people with diffrent levels of analytical skills and knowledge about what is possible within this engine. Of course many reports will be bullshit. And that what you linked is again related to the science of finding unknown hacks, which is not relevant for my point here. We may be able to report hacks, but not the hackers, even when we can provide names, even with video evidence, even in the rare cases when we know their steamaccount names.

Temperature effects are broken since hotfix
Khanarac replied to ColonelBurton's topic in General Discussion
@OP I had that happen to me twice, BEFORE the hotfix...I can't remember...maybe it was experimental. It was in Kelm. I figured it might be to it's "high" altitude. Got hypothermia within 10minutes or so and died quickly. I only found a woolcoat after about 7 minutes though, sun was shining Must've been -30 degrees. I failed to spot a pattern on this so far, and it never occured to me again after that two times on the same day. ( I didn't play much SA anyway recently). I figured the first characters after the patch or the wipe are bugged somehow. Please report if this ever happened to you again. Also....wood doesn't have to dry a summer. We cut trees in the military to make fire for the whole platoon. Ofc it worked, the fire was huge. The enviroment temperature was about -20 degrees C and it was dry, no snow nor rain. -
I don't know man. I hit stationary targets at 300meters with a machine gun without magnification in RL after two tries of the same procedure with only two misses in 15 shots. And also with a G36 we practised at about 400 meters too, granted the G36 has a standard issued acog (designed to be used to up to 800 meters but the instructors said the max. effective combat range was 500m). But we often have magnified weapons in dayz and i still don't feel confident most of the time to actually shoot the target, the tiny fraction of a second when i can get my crosshair aligned to the target before the extragerated sway kicks in is just too risky. The guy will get away. I think we need a middleground between the current sway and the super-accurate dayzmod behaviour. Or I just will have to deal with it and take the shots regardless. I feel like a bipod does nothing to change that while prone. It just reduces dispersion, not sway. I guess they will fix that sometime because that seems rather illogical.

The currently ridiculous weaponsway makes the shotgun OP. Let me showcase 2 encounters I had: (it was 3 but i forgot the 3rd) 1. I ran through a forest after interaction with a player, with my shotgun armed. 10min before I have been shot at by a sniper who missed, I was unprepared for battle then suddenly I see a guy in the forest, obviously looking for me, he sees me instantly and we are only apart about 20 meters, I try shooting him but my weapon is not loaded, I run around while reloading the weapon. I quickly point on him and shoot, he dies before releasing a single SKS shot. I find a mosin on his back: he is the sniper who was looking for me, he had the edge, he still lost, not due to my mad skills..but I'll make my point later. 2. I run over a field near NEA, directed to krastostav, wielding a shotgun. I get shot at massively by an AKM. He misses all shots until I can locate him, I release a single shot in his general direction. He is almost impossible for me to see since the sun is direcly over his head. I check his body to find that he has a pristine HC vest, only the pants are destroyed. He died by a single Shotgun shot to the legs, and the ridiculous weaponsway of his gun failed him while I just broadly pointed at him once, without taking time to properly aim and without the need to deal with the sway. I really feel discouraged by the sway to engage any enemy that's further away than 200 meters. I consider the weapons so impotent at this point that I always walk up to them, unless they are perfectly stationary. The characters of dayz are swinging their weapons around. Proper weaponsway is just shivering (I know because I was a conscript). Look at your character from 3rd person, see how its even visible from there how badly the weapon is swinging around. If you don't see that this is problematic...seriously, grab a metal rod and hold it like a rifle. Witness for yourself how well an untrained human can hold it, even after sprinting. For fairness btw: I shot a stationary sniper today from 750 meters away with my 2nd shot, while holding breath and going prone. Holdbreath does something I believe, but the effect is barely noticeable and short lived. That said, I feel like the current sway is favouring camping way too much.

Since WOBOs experiments it's known that most people are opportunits, as so far displayed by your own poll "depends". It might be nitpicking but i dont feel exactly represented by KOS. I'm one of the guys roaming the NWA area, looking trouble with people who also want trouble, preferably huge groups of people. I call it hunter, but i guess KOS will do aswell.

The reason to move around will come soon enough: private hives = no serverhopping. Inability to hide valued vehicles will cause major frustration. The reasons to move around are only crashsites and hidden player's stashes or hunting players. Crashsites loot is not exacly great at the moment, stashes are none-existant with only partial persistence. Moving spawnpoints around won't encourage mobility, it will encourage more suicides until the desired spawnpoint is taken. Therefore, not silly. Unfortunatly in the standalone there is no reason to go anywhere specific unless its a military location. Hospitals and supermarkets don't mean shit now, and every town has basicly the same loot, unless there is a special building there like fire-or policestation. Again, imo random spawnpoints won't do anything to get the people off the coast. At this point, I don't see why we would waste our time in towns tbh. The only reason I loot towns is because I DO NOT want to look military, I wanna look civilian but in favourable brown/green colours. However, it takes way longer to loot a city for proper clothes and weapons than a militaryfacility. In the end it's always better the go there timeconsuptionwise, and if you're not up for trouble, leave again. In dayzero it's kinda great. You have the people who have nothing to lose on the coast. There you can practise. The further inland you go, the better armed the players are that you meet and also their skill and organisation, aswell as squadsize rises the further you go. Imo this is the best possible thing that can happen to dayz SA. I hope it develops similarly, but I don't think anyone can predict how the game will turn out and how future designchoices will influence player's behaviour. Also keep in mind that when vehicles are introduced, we will have to look for parts for them. So cities with industrial facilities will suddenly become attractive to those looking to fixing up a car.

Haven't been playing much since patch, but I got killed in balota a couple times and heard alot of shooting in cherno.
-
What does "fleshing out the north" mean? More mindless towns? Where are we supposed to hide our vehicles? Will you park your car in a spot where people go to loot stuff? I won't. There is hardly any wilderness left at this point. Hiding a vehicle will be an excersise in futility. The problem is not the coast spawning. I can only report from my experience in dayzero here: You spawn on the coast there aswell, but people are everywhere, in every town and every forest. It's 65 man servers. One reason might be that people avoid entering towns unless there is a high priority target in there, like a hospital, or they really need some food/drink/gun. Because entering towns means dealing with many zombies. People will stay in spawn areas unless you give them a reason to move, and since serverhopping is so convenient they can equipp themselves right where they spawn, on the coast. To me that's the whole reason this happens. As a sidenote: we currently have too many military bases, they are not contested enough. They should remove the Vybor military, pavlovo mil, the barracks from balota and the new tenttown near myshkino. Right now spawning in cherno is the jackpot, easy looting at balota. Oh and btw, dayz mod used to have total random spawns, not just coasts. It sucked imo, there is a reason why they removed it. It reduces the chances to meet your friends dramatically and new people are overwhelmed even more.

I have the same experience.... In 0.42 I could hit a guy with a baseball bat right on the head and knock him out, now I can't even hit them most of the time, and hitting the head was impossible for me. I wonder why they even changed it to begin with.

i dont even have day-z yet :0 i still have questions...alot
Khanarac replied to hellrazer21's topic in New Player Discussion
2. Imo unhelpul answer. The current max of people on a server is 40. 3. Note that the game has no goals. You have to make your own goals 4. When you die your body dissapears after 10 minutes, unless there is a player nearby. It will remain there then until the player moves away if it's already beyond the 10min timer. However, an allied player can strip your corpse and lay the items somewhere you can grab them. This way you can evade the 10min timer. It is planned that dropped items decay over time aswell but not ingame yet. Also it's save to say that the itemdecay will at any rate be more than 10minutes. 5. There is not much to craft to begin with and only a few items are actually worth your time, like an improves backpack. Rope+Burlapsack. A stick is optional and makes the bag bigger. 7. On the submod of dayz mod that I play, there are currently max 65 people on a server, working vehicles and storage but no bases. I strongly recommend the mod instead of standalone at this point. -
How To Increase Your FPS On DayZ (Now Getting Over 100FPS)
Khanarac replied to youtubejmachine's topic in Gallery
Fair warning: if you reduce your object detail, it decreases the ranges at which players get properly rendered. You should not let it drop below normal or low, unless you have severe FPS drops. Landscape quality can be dropped to very low, turn clouds off as they just eat FPS aswell as shadows. -
The question is how much ressources they have. Have you heard the story about a guy in GTA5, a hacker, raping people and they can't defend themselves. Imagine if a huge company like Rockstar can't make this guy stop, how is the comperatively tiny Bohemia and BE going to stop it? There are just too many badguys. Imo the hacking will persist to be a problem until we have public hives/shards. And even then we have intrinsic problems, like admin corruption.
-
Nope I won't if you keep posting such things. But I gave you info you didnt know again, didn't I? If you fuck up and end up being a freshspwan anyway, leave the server and hop a bit, your char might return, Your playtime of Mod is irrelevant when talking bugs of SA.

Oh it's me with sand in my panties? I didn't think so as my commitment on this issue is zero. Can you stfu now? I assumed it's commonly accepted that "no trading" basicly means very little, because everyone sane knows that there are always exceptions (OMG I SAID ALWAYS, ITS AN ABSOLUTE; THERE ARE NO ABSOLUTES SO LETS TOSS THE WORD "ALWAYS" OUT OF THE FUCKING DICTIONARY) Did you condescending prick know that in statistics exceptional stats that are too far out of the main picture of the stats get deleted to get a more accurate average? That's what basicly "no trade" fucking means. Also, language. I'm not writing a fucking scientific paper here and you knew damn well what I meant but chose to read it in the most unfavourable manner. What is your fucking problem? Just shut it. I asked, I received an answer, I said gratz to everyone who fought for it. What else do you fucking want from me?

For those of you that have lost faith in DayZ...
Khanarac replied to pabloottawa's topic in General Discussion
@OP The problem here is though that there is a mod for dayz for free, which does still most things better at the moment than the SA, and the SA is based on that mod. People wondered why they just haven't fixed the mod instead of trying to make a whole new game. Also it seems weird to many people that "they basicly had a working game (meaning the mod and arma) to begin with". After sobering 8 months, if I played the game only at release in december 13 and now for a month each, I would certainly experience diffrences, like less gamecrashes. Also more weapons and changes to the map, but nothing big. And of course we can argue what a "big improvement" to the game is all day. But none of the important stuff is here imo. Like 64 bit servers, raising of playercap on servers, proper loot respawn, no trace of vehicles (I know they just started making ideas for them)...the list goes on. Anyway, for now I am back to the mod. I never participated in an alpha before and I never will again, but I mainly bought this because I thought "It's kinda like the mod, just with a diffrent inventory system and proper melee", which it did not turn out to be. Nice sideeffect of course is reporting bugs and the money helps them too. I have over thousand hours on dayZ SA, what kept me there was hope. A hope that dayzmod, with it's own problems that I was fed up with, can not provide. Also Reefa is obviously the troll. -
Whats your problem? I stated dayzero for the whole purpose to illustrate that it's my subjective experience. I didn't have a point to begin with, I just wondered what all the fuzz is about, since people seem so uberly happy about this minor change, so please quit your faultfinding tone. I'm just saying that your "there might be trade's" is not very likley and seems like squeezing out the most possible meaning to this change. I'm certainly NOT arguing AGAINST this. So the realism guys won on here, gratz.

How does everyone here break up the DayZ monotony?
Khanarac replied to karlkurtz32's topic in General Discussion
Breaking the monotony atm by playing mod https://zombies.nu/ If you are considering to try it, it has no 3rd person anymore.
