How about No?

Just remove that feature alltogether. People will get used to it and they'll forget the 3rd pp ever existed. 3rd pp sometimes works for you and sometimes against you. Basicly if you have cover close to you, it works for you, if you do not, then it does work against you.

Suggestion: Decrease hit percentage => Lengthen the Rush + Reduce Artificiality
Khanarac replied to cuddly_rabbit's topic in Suggestions
As he stated in his OPENING post, he is a seargent in the german army. And I know what he is talking about, esp regarding the G36. That piece of crap loses accuracy after some use, because the red-dot scope loses alingment with the gunmuzzle. I was a conscript in the german military, in the german equivalent of armyrangers (but they didn't train conscripts as well as the real guys ofc). Modern guns need to be tended to. And hell, they could make the weapon cleaning kit useful and make us re-adjust the weaponry, why not? You could find some rusty AKM that you have to refurbish first in order to make it reliable. Also he is kind of right about hitting people. If you look at warstatistics, most people are not killed. Just wounded. I recall that in the 2nd Worldwar, the Wehrmacht lost about 30% of their soldiers (statistics for the eastern front) So 70% of all other soldiers survived. And that battles there involved atillery and all kinds of crazy crap that is not in dayz. I like the realism idea but I dont know how to make this work. If you have a well taken care of gun, it should be reliable. Its still a game, and unreliable weaponry would cause only frustration. So, I don't really know how to implement this kind of realism to a game. People are used to the most badass military equip that works perfectly always. Changing that might just get people seriously pissed. It must be frustrating for a soldier with uber-accurate equipment though, as he gets the feeling that somehow is not right. -
"We don't want your sniper rifle!"
Khanarac replied to Tactical-Turtle's topic in General Discussion
But it should :D Maximum combatrange of most pistols is 50meter in real life. I am yet very impressed. I believed the dispersion would deny such a shot. You got lucky and did well. -
You want threatening Zombies? .. the mods got 'em
Khanarac replied to Irish.'s topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
DayZero Zombies are a nightmare :o Scary things, breaking your legs quickly. -
Texture filtering it is, otherwise I don't know. The flickering in dayz is kind of normal. Check also what your FXAA settings are.

The Black Watch - Recruiting Mature Members
Khanarac replied to Bluntbanana (DayZ)'s topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
Hey, blackwatchnoobs. I just killed one of you on your own server, then teamed up with 2 others to kill the last of you at the eastairfield office. You just kicked us off the server and finished off our carcasses. I'll report your server for misconduct. That said, no one should join these powerabusing cheaters. I assume it was Bratty2k7 who did it. -
Pistols suck because they tend to bug out. Ever experienced a moment of pressure where you draw your pistol in the heat of battle but after 3 sec it draws back in and keeps doing this regardless of what you try? Killed me lot's of times. Btw what is the diffrence between the M1911 and the FNX? Except for FNX having a larger mag.

Sanity/rationale/crazy meter to encourage player interaction?
Khanarac replied to BAMO4O's topic in Suggestions
So basicly it won't affect anyone who is playing in a group of people anyway? And why'd your sanity drop if you are with the same people, does your wife make you crazy? :D No seriously, that sounds kind of artificial if the same people dont increase your sanity. -
Are there even arrows yet in the game? Never seen one, just bolts.

Nope, he said the anti-stab vest was useless. Antistab seems to mean antibleed.

Yesterday I played the Mod after 200 hours of Standalone.
Khanarac replied to Bambi Population Control's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I tried the mod again after 600 h of standalone (yea Im crazy). It was refreshingly hard...but somehow unbearable. I was sick and tired of playing cat and mouse with zombies because melee is flimsy. And I rediscovered all the other flaws that made me go to SA. I came back humbled to SA and with an understanding what BI really achieved so far in the SA. (Better FPS, viewdistance, Animations, Charactermodels, Inventory, Clothes, Melee, Damagecharts, Vaulting over fences (without a 2hand weapon), mostly solid buildingrendering in the distance/while scoped...and Im certain I could name more had I played more ours of the mod) -
tl;dr "We ambushed 6 guys with a group of 5 and killed them all, even the remaining unconscious guys, but we are heroes (and I like to be a squadleader and some RP)" They mustve been blind to not see your shining UN helmets. I wonder how you guys can sustain the Pressvest Theme. Isn't it kind of the rarest item currently ingame? Then again ....if you ambush like this, you probably don't need replacement vests :D Glad you taught them a lesson. You don't run brainAFK through Berenzino.

o.O DEFLECTING ZOMBIE! maybe somehow your bullet ricocheted in a bad way...

Yea you're right. I actually never entered the large hospitals ever again since I noticed how much better the little clinic was. I also don't get why the entire frontside of the big hospital is inacessable. They modeled rooms in there, and those no-go rooms always provide for some glitchers.

I lol'd :D Yea...stay away from Rocks. They kill, unless you wanna die :P

Teamwork mechanics to give a reason for non lethal interaction.
Khanarac replied to Linden's topic in Suggestions
Probably, but while assembling a vehicle you have the opportunity to get to know people and a common goal. Most people then will be your allies after assembling a vehicle together. However, if they have friends anywhere else on the map currently, they are most likley to betray and kill you. -
Its called overloaded servers...
-
Imo the zeroing mechanic is kind of primitive. When you lean it only affects the horizontal (notice how the mosin scope is unaffected by the leaning. It looks always like your are not leaning). Also maybe your barrel was pointing at the wall you hid behind. Did you check that? If you can see someone in your scope, doesn't mean that your muzzle is pointing at him, the muzzle might still be behind the wall.

Khanarac replied to Linden's topic in Suggestions
I honestly can't think of a proper feature to promote coop myself, so I can't blame BI. Maybe that's what Dean meant when he said that DayZ has an intrinsic flaw in its concept. -
Impressive communication you guys have :o Nice vid. Did your unconscious guy die?

Your wordsalad is a pain to read, I shall disregard all who despise interpunctuation. Also, why the bitterness? Ease up. If you have yet to see clanbattles, you didnt play that much eh? Usually its about 3vs3, bigger sizes like seen in the mod do not show up as often somehow. I also don't see how you can despise the only goal actually available right now in the alpha: hunting armed men. @Linden: It's not really believable that you can not inject a bloodbag into yourself, but have a teammate do it, hence artificial. Certainly what you suggested is not essential (and so isn't bloodbagging)*, but as I mentioned earlier, people are already teamed up most of the time, and be assured that repairing a vehicle that you found somewhere will take a team to assembe, because of the sheer amount of parts it needs and that used inventory space. I assume you have not played the mod yet? But for me this boils down to the mainproblem. If you have no vehicle or building to assemble, there is still no reason to engage with other players in a rewarding way. Esp if the experience is unejoyable because of microphone issues on the other side and languagebarriers and, in my case, low willingness to have newer players around me. (I've had my share of guiding newbies) *bloodbagging not essential because: Most of the time you are dead, not wounded. (BUT HOW DO YOU KNOW THIS?! ARE YOU THE EXPERT!?) Yes. Because I know how few people escaped a firefight with me and how quickly they are over. -

Yes I am the statistical analyst expert for dayz, obviously. To make such statements I don't have to be though. And "some of your best times" is just as anecdotal as my claims. You think I have never teamed up with some random people? Of course I have. It still remains true that most people are grouped. After a while of playing Dayz, people tend to group up with the same people they can trust. That's why we have a recruitmentforum here, don't you think? "I know a lot of people". Well alot is not most, most meaning more than 50%. I can play that nitpick game aswell. I'm not against ideas that reward actual cooperation with strangers, but this Idea here is not one of those. Another artificial coop enforcement like bloodbagging. -
DayZ is a paradox game - Random thoughts
Khanarac replied to cuddly_rabbit's topic in General Discussion
He mentioned that there was no horror aspect to the game, and I couldn't agree more. I always wondered what Dean was doing at those talks about horrorgames, when he doesn't develop a horrorgame (as of now). We need some messy zombiemodels! -

Khanarac replied to Linden's topic in Suggestions
And such restrictions would cause people to teamwork, just not with random people but with their team. Just like it is now. I see no reason to cooperate with strangers most of the time. If I am fully geared they are a risk and I don't need anything from them. Communicationbarriers usually are a problem too and then there is the immense skillgap that does not make it attractive to pick up strangers most of the time. You seem to be assuming that most people are soloing, but infact most people are roaming around in duos.
