Anyone using Vilayer as their GSP having server issues?

Maybe its just dupers who crashed your server. Yesterday I witnessed a guy duping himself 5 times in a couple of seconds only. The server did not survive that. After that, no action was possible. If you encounter 10 second serverfreezes where nothing can be done, there is some guy duping on the server.

    Realism fix for supplies

Really? Don't we have enough loot already?

Shotgun most worthless weapon the game?

Did he have a helmet? Helmets basicly render him very tough to kill with a shotgun. Balistic helmets that is.
  4. You know what breaks immersion more? When in the building that I just searched, suddenly a guy appears behind me and sprays me down.
  5. Yay! It's necessary to fight against ghosters. He is not asking back for the cracking sound, just for the reloadsound or any soundnotification for that matter. It doesnt really matter if its any other sound or the reloading sound. Both serves the same purpose.

How to avoid people going after their own corpse

Yesterday my group of 6 people was killed by a hacker. We went back to our corpses, and everything was gone. They used "hide body" on everyone. Leaving us with nothing at all. So we ran there in vain to recover nothing, and you call this "death with no consequence" ? What are you on about? How is that no consequence? We might be forced to loot for up to an hour, or wander the cities with a doublerifle with 4 shots, and feed 6 people close to eachother. If we want to be equipped properly we need to run to the NWA, costing 20min to run there and 20min back. So how is that no consequence? Why are you continiously ignoring the "hide body" option as viable gear denial and never mention that a body disapears after 10-15min anyway. We don't need another mechanic. Let them run to their corpse, its not there anymore. Also how can you guys really say anything about decomposing. Decomposing takes alot of time and wouldn't affect your plastic/metal weapons and tools anyway. The body automaticly hides itself after 10 or 15minutes. We don't need decomposing. Yes as I said, if you read properly, I implied that the lone player is already at a disadvantage, because I said "That kind of mechanic would basicly put lone players even more into a disadvantage", meaning they are disadvantaged to begin with. @kOepi: "new spawnpoints will not change anything. what elektro was, is now berezino." - as I said. "even when you have one hundred spawnpoints over the whole map it will not solve the problem of people trying to get to their corpses. I just deliberates it to a certain degree." -It is sufficient. After killing yourselves a couple times, it might be not worth going back to your corpse, because it autodespawns after 10 or 15min anyway (10min according to patchnotes). Also, as I repeated over and over again: HIDE BODY, It works. Bitches. "you are saying "you cannot learn from death experience in real life". what on earth are you talking about? the only way to adjust that is to uninstall the game once you died." -Yes you got my point. You said that once you died you knew the tactics of the ones who killed you and their positions. This is the same knowledge like learning how to properly handle weaponry or where to find guns. Its knowledge that you, the player, has instead of your character. And you'll just have to Dean with it. Your solutions are silly and not thought out, just as your german written argument about drinking and driving, which is utterly unrelated to the entire topic, you just meant to show me there what a solution to a problem is. You suggest that a law against drunkdriving doesn't solve the problem, but only a car that denies a drunk driver access is. However, a law contributes to solving the problem. And if the technology for drunkdriver detection is not available, you have to imply other tools, such as adcampaigns raising awareness to the problem. Or are you suggesting that we should do nothing but impose the law to adress the problem? Of course you are not. Also about this "problems don't solve themselves, people solve them". The reason I pointed that out is that this statement is so obvious that it is stupid to even state it. And you know, new dispersed spawnpoints layed out by bohemia staff and using "hide body" by players is "people solving a problem" at work.

    Winning a gunfight [TIPS]

Gibz, you forgot to pray to the desync-gods. Esp if you play with an M4 in closequarters. Chances are you sprayed your target with 30 rounds. Then he turns around, firing back at you. He then dies, but so do you. Now another tip: Don't underestimate suppression. Once the AKM is introduced this can be practised better. If you get shot at, you might try to spray in the rough direction where you suspect the fire coming from. Chances are that your enemy ceases fire and seeks for cover. Works best with high frequency weapons, so the AKM will serve as a light Machinegun soon.

    Learning Avatar

Yea I kinda like the idea but have not much of a clue how it would affect the game really. It could be great, it could be a mess. I thought about this for months now and there are some topics suggesting this stuff already.
  9. Yea I see your point, but its still inconvenient xD My other points worry me more :D Also...a few hours? Depends sir. Back in Dayzero there was stats how long your char lived. It happened not often but not rarely that our characters lived 18 hours or so. And yea they did battle, at the NWA, Stary Sobor, Green Mountain....well, I guess thats still a tiny minority of players.

How to avoid people going after their own corpse

I will quote myself from another topic with basicly the same message. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/196654-let-perma-death-be-perma-death/?p=1988279 And what's that "people solve problems"? Are you serious? Where did you pick up that line to drop on me rather pointlessly. Why do you think the PvP-Hellhole Elektro is now deserted in favor of Berenzino? It's the Spawnpoints. Please consider the effect of a HIDDEN corpse on a guy who runs back to it: He comes off empty handed. Also if you get me started with realism: Its also not realistic that I can learn through my death experience. Its not realistic that I can handle the weapons better the more practise I have with them over numerous lives, but it is the way it is. Everyone who kills someone knows exactly that it is likley that his victim knows how he has been killed. Therefore the murderer must change positions. It's rather simple. /EDIT: I will quickly destroy your Zombieidea Blern. That kind of mechanic would basicly put lone players even more into a disadvantage. Groups will have no issue in firing a magazine at your zombiehoard. Well, atleast if the zombies stay like they are now. It might be challenging if the Zombies would be more numerous and hit with more accuracy and damage. Anyway, such a mechanic nullifies the reward for the one who shot the player. Making it a bad system. You gotta be able to shoot for loot. Imo the current rate at which items become ruined is way too high. Its not believable that a bullter to your trousers would ruin them, they would be patched up easily. Oh, and zombies draging guns away from the corpse is not believable either imo. Edit2: Im glad you abandoned your own long spawntimer Idea. You did not state that in your own topic yet, did you? If so, I did not notice yet.
  11. One Char per server could be a mess too. If the server is down, you have to start over unwillingly and without your own fault. Currently some servers seem to crumble from excessive duping, being unresponsive for hours. I also fear that the power of admins to tweak server specific stuff (like loot, vehicles or zombies) will make most servers unenjoyable and seperate the community. A few months ago, the members of this forum feared that the Standalone might die out to mods, just like DayZMod did to submods. And everyone who has played some battlefield games knows that its all good and well at gamerelease, where the admins cannot tweak servers, but then that communitypack gets released, and suddenly you have a thousands of Tickets, unenterable zones to prevent baserapes and all kinds of other stuff that was not intended by the devs. It took ages to find a decent server for a group of 5. I can already smell private hives disallowing pvp. But I also look forward to the benefits of private hives. Whitelisting and not as overloaded central hives that manage all loot, admins capable of banning cheaters and more.

Let perma death be perma death

And why would you need all the gear? 80% of it is ruined. All you need is the primary weapon and some ammo for it. Anyone can spare some food and bandages, there you go. And if you read my post proberly I never stated that groups SHOULD have that loothoarding advantage, but they DO have it. You misrepresented my argument. Your suggestion is not thought through properly and would cause major frustration to all the players, its a bad idea overall. Why would anyone who has a job bother to play a game that he cannot access for 2 hours when he died? Its nonsense. And why would you force groups to log into other servers just so that the other guy can join them again? What is "not allowed back on the same server" supposed to mean anyway? When I die, am I forced off the server? Now how stupid is that? When people get better at this game, they'll use the "hide body" function more often. There you have your permandeath. And if your team can recover the corpse, you're lucky man. And there is no way you will ever manage to prevent a team from recovering their comrades gear. I, atleast, cannot conceive a feasable way. What I can conceive however is some bonus for long survival. Minor bonuses like...take less time to bandage, higher chance of finding fruit in bushes, higher chance of catching fish and similar stuff. If there was a system inplace that would actually value your CHARACTER instead of your GEAR, that would change everything. After all, its the knowledge and skill what makes a survivor a valuable member, not necessarily his equipment. There could be stuff like when you take gunshots, you won't heal up to 100%, but only 90% by yourself, unless you get treatment by a doctor (who would be a player). /EDIT: upon rereading your response, I can't tell what you wanted to say anyway. You shot yourself in the foot. Basicly saying that if your team camps your corpse, they take considerable risk. Which is an argument against your suggestion of implementing a new mechanic to punish the dead guy.

How to avoid people going after their own corpse

If you want to prevent someone to loot his gear, go hide his corpse. If he happens to have friends around, why are they still alive? :P Kill them and hide their stuff. This problem will solve itself with more dispersed spawnpoints.

How to get the players guids or names

I'd love the buildinglog-denial. And yes, right now you are powerless as admin. And every hacker knows that. All the "Cheater/glitcher = kick/bann" in the servermessages is so pathetic, everyone knows its a empty threat. If you find glitcher in your Airfield buildings, i recommend to just leave them alone. Those bastards will be bored. You might also write a message in the global adminchat for everyone to read that there are glitchers there. That way people probably won't bother to mess with them and they'll get bored and leave the glitch or server.

Not sure exactly where I am, maybe Polana?

Next time when you are lost, look for a road that leads out of town. There is always a Sign there stating the name of the Place, then compare the letters you see http://dayzdb.com/map Friendly server are against the official serverrules btw. and nothing happens if you pvp, because the admins can't enforce anything. They can not know who shot anyone.
  17. Khanarac

People copying dayz are doing it wrong.

No? What is more likley to be your main concern: Stupid zombies that are noisy and can hit you only in melee....or a hidden player shooting you from afar with deadly weaponry. I don't grief, but I kill on sight. When I kill someone I do it in silence, not shouting nor trolling. And my dearest wish is always finding and killing large clans. The larger the better. That survival part is all well and looks nice but what is it good for? You have abundance of food and water in the game already, what would we need hunting for actually? It seems very gimmicky. They'd have to lower the foodloot significantly in order to force me to hunt animals instead of people. Which they might do, but then looting cities will become very frustrating. I assume if there was sickness in this game yet, you would have other things to do and behave diffrently. For instance you can't stay out in the rain for too long without protective clothing. Otherwise that would cause sickness, forcing you to fight said sickness. The Idea about a skillsystem is crossing my mind for a long time now. It might lead to two things: More frustration upon death and/or less KoS (if the bandits that rob you need a skilled engineer and you are one, that might buy you time for talking to them and making them not kill you after your work is done). Proper basebuilding would force you and your group also out on unusual or contested places. Depending on what you need for your base. I would really like the introduction of some kind of hotspot worth bothering with, which attracts pvp. Then you scared PVE people can avoid those hotspots most of the time, unless you need something from there. Oh and also, the current crew I roll with I found while fighting some guy at the Office in the NEAF. I besieged a camper there and another guy came around. We allied to kill the camper and ended up playing together now for days. So pvp actually can force you to group up when zombies can not. And they never could. If you wanna see damn hard zombies, try DayZero. People still never ally against zombies, they are always the background of things.

Let perma death be perma death

This all would'nt even be a problem if splitting ruined ammo just was not working. Then most of the time you couldnt fire any ammo, for most of the time its all ruined. Those long respawntimers are damn stupid, aswell as not being able to loot your corpse. Seems like you haven't thought about that concept for 20 seconds. Otherwise you would know that groups of players would be able to ignore that mechanic. The solution is rather simple as people stated: 1. Spread out spawnpoints. 2. Ruined ammo should not be splittable. Also the reason why people are focused in on berenzino is that there is no diffrent type of loot at the North West Airfield. That means there is no reason to go there, when you can just serverhop* and loot NorthEast. In the Mod we had unique loot at North West Airfield, making people travel there from every part of the map. Also we had crashsites with unique Loot. The crashsites we get in experimental still have the same loot as militarybuildings. Unfortunatly they ruined the possiblity to spawn at the southcoast because they made balota too valuable. *the fact that there are countless of rather empty servers that allow for quick and save NEAF looting also contributes to the emptyness of the inland.
  19. Also note that its almost impossible to get on a server. Everyone tries to get there now, and chances are low. If you have a slow downstream, it is not worth it.
  20. All the new /overhauled cities look far more realistic than the old ones. (cherno doesnt look believable at all)
  21. I thought the guaranteed Messaging system would introduce 100 slotservers. We had that in experimental and it seemed to work fine except for a couple crashes every now and then. But somehow it worked better than the stable 40/40 Slot servers. Any news on that? It would be a huge setback if they gave up on that. I can't see a reason to introduce new cities in a map that is too large for 40 players already. I suspect a huge majority of lag comes from the central hive always receiving data for each and every item constantly, or that the specs the serverproviders use for the dayz servers are insufficient. Imo the guaranteed messaging system did not change anything for the better (for me atleast). Since it was introduced, I pick up weapons I can't fire, pick up clothing with loot in it that I can't see and other not so fun stuff. Has anyone any info what went wrong there, and when / if to expect 100 slot servers? Thanks in advance.
  22. Khanarac

Any news on 100 Slot servers?

I disagree. They are introducing new cities. Which basicly is a territorygain for the map.
  23. Khanarac

    You hear someone say, "Hello?"

Since everyone is looking through the walls, esp if you are talking about a situation at the NEAF, they know where you are and that you have no firearm before entering the building. Thats why they enter carefree in the first place, you can not even bluff. That means staying in there is your doom. You gotta run!
  24. Khanarac

I guess they call that karma.

Id seriously like to "groundpound" and build up the character by looting anything I can find. But since nowhere beside NEAF and Berenzino any players can be found, I don't bother anymore to head inland. They finally need to adjust the spawnpoints and make proper lootspot decisisions (aka why go to NWAF when there is just the same loot as in NEAF?). They already said though, that lootspot balance is at the bottom of the priority list.
