    Wildlife vs Zombies

Yes we do. Btw. in WWII there was a tame bear in some polish infantry unit that was fighting for the allys. As far as I know it even smoked :D https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wojtek_%28soldier_bear%29 And yea, interactions between wildlife and zombies could be interesting. Infected animals may also be a good way to mix up the zombie variety, I don't see why there couldn't be infected dogs for example. I think their lower height, high speed and fangs would make them quite fearsome.

    Dayz is working fine?

Well, shit happens. I hope they get a hotfix out quickly though. I kind of wanna test the new stuff :P

Take my beans jack :beans: That's truly an interesting summary of forum culture, you should consider writing a full fledged essay on it

    It has happened...

I wonder why every thread ends in this excruciatingly annoying "it's broken pls fix - It's ALPHA - Alpha is no valid argument gtfo" argument.

    Zombie spawning

The spawning mechanism and the zombies in general might still be quite wonky. BUT I am absolutely convinced that the game is on the right way. It needs BRUTAL zombies, that deserve to be feared and force you to play safe and smart. As soon as the zombie spawning/glitching/vision stuff is fixed, the zombies will probably need some more buffs, be it in quantity or quality.

    Patch 42.116181

The changes seem quite nice, the zombies are finally somewhat threatening, the wool coats are pretty neat and OH MY GOD: tactical fucking BACON!. If it only was properly playable <_< edit: The addition of new police stations and health centres is also quite interesting. It might cool down the action on the airfields a bit. Whether that is good or bad, well, I guess it's a matter of opinion.

    Pistol Magazines

Yea, finding a pistol with a fitting magazine is pretty unlikely at the moment. Which is quite weird, since pistols and civilian weapons are supposed to be the backbone of the players' arsenal. I get the hunch it might actually be easier to find an m4 + mag than an fnx and it's magazine :D

    It has happened...

Well, I didn't play the mod, but I can imagine that there are quite a lot of people who prefer the pvp battle royale aspect of the game. Those might be not pleased by harder zombies that allow them less freedom in their pvp approach. However, DayZ is not a typical shooter. The player encounters surely are the most interesting at the game, but a zombie survival game needs zombies, that well...threaten your survival. Besides, player encounters that only include blasting the other guy's brains out are surely not very interesting in the long run. A harsher survival aspect might actually encourage people to more cooperation and more diverse playstyles. In other words, harder zombies and more challenging survival would benefit the game in it's role as apocalyptic survival game. Some people will love it, others will hate it. There is a point where a game has to decide what it wants to be. For me it would be sad if DayZ ended up as free-for-all shooter with a survival aspect, but others will think differently.
  9. I'd actually like to play at night, but i would not like to do so for several hours. With the current system that means I'd have to switch servers to get my "filling" of nighttime. This is a very unsatisfactory solution, especially when persistent items will come in. I do think many other players think that way. They might enjoy a bit of night, but they wouldn't want to play at night for 3+ hours. And that's why (imo) a shorter day/night cycle would come in handy.

    It has happened...

@Rage I meant acceptable for a properly playable game. In the current state of the game the zombies are, well adequate. I don't wanna call em good since they stil teleport and run through walls, but that's alpha stuff...

    It has happened...

It seems the Z's attacks also became more dangerous. They seem to cause bleeding more oftenly than before. The zombies are definitely on a good way, but It'll still take a lot of work until they are at least acceptable.
  12. When it comes to zombies, I think they should be "dumb". In other words, as long as you sneak/crawl and keep some distance you should be safe of beeing detected. They can only sense you when you are very close or moving fast. At the same time though the Zeds should be way stronger and harder to shake off. That would force players to be more careful, and you'd have to think very carefully before shooting in a town, since it would alarm the horde. The zeds vision seems pretty borked at the moment, but i guess it's a major case of WIP.

Rants, Sniping, Thoughts of 2014 [Video]

I can't agree with your wish list. I don't think high-tech equipment and loads of modern military weapons will do the game any good. Plus, obvious advertisement is obvious.
  14. DayZ_friendy, really? So many posts just to nitpick or insult people? That's not very friendly! (badumm-ts) Why can't we concentrate the discussion on the content of the game? I agree, the game should be very hard and unforgiving. There are not enough games like that out there nowadays. It might be harsh for new players, but after reading/watching basic stuff on the internet and dying a few times people should get a basic idea. Furthermore, the harder the game is, the greater the joy of staying alive. Maybe less people will go full rambo then ^^

AKM Sneak peak close to being implemented

The Ak looks awesome. Nevertheless I hope they will lower the spawn rate of each individual military rifle, now that new ones are beeing implemented, to keep them rare. The M4 already feels a little too common. On the Mosin discussion: I am no expert on firearms, but the mosin is a very long rifle, originally designed for longer range combat. A Mosin in good condition should probably be more accurate than the way shorter M4, which also uses shorter (so less stable in flight?) ammunition.
  16. @Jexter I really like your idea considering the night/day cycle. If we had like 5h day (including dawn periods) and 2h night, coupled with playable nights people might be more willing to play at night. Especially to prevent beeing shot at. Considering "gamma-cheating" there was some talk about a system from Arma 3 that can circumvent that, so nights can become just a little brighter without people beeing able to make day out of it via gamma-regulation. (When i talk about more playable nights, i refer to several complaints about them beeing too dark. I never played at night so far, since pretty much all servers are day-only atm.) I gotta add that I also doubt whether the addition of night vision goggles would be a good idea. It might be too much of an advantage and turn the night into a even larger slaughter than the day. If they decide to implement them however, they should be rare and hard to maintain.

Where are the updates? **crickets chirping**

@Window Licker You just put my feelings in words. It's bloody frustrating reading people's posts that contain nothing but idle ranting, while they seem to absolutely refuse to think about the issue or to try understanding it. Well, i guess logorrhea is contageious...
  19. Constructive criticism and suggestions during the making of the film can lead to a better product though.
  20. I don't really think you can call using TS or any other external means of communication "cheating". When you develop a multiplayer game (/mod) you should and most likely will always assume that people use those to play with their friends. People not doing that is close to unthinkable. Yea, the map makes looting easyer, especially for someone like me who does not know the map. You can't say that the game is hard enough, we just have to stop using ts/dayzdb map or other tools like the wiki. That's pretty close to saying: "Hey the game is hard enough if you just stop using your right hand" What can't be circumvented has to be accepted and compensated for in another way.
  21. While I haven't played the mod, I do agree completely with the OP. While some people may say "You can't criticise an alpha" , actually the opposite is true. In this phase constructive criticism and suggestions like this can help to steer the game in the right direction. Oh, and i definately agree on the necessity of making survival a hard, and central point of the game. I witnessed first hand how one transforms from a survivor to a "bandit" through sheer boredom, which is okay in the current state since it is an alpha, but should definately change in the future. I started my character with the goal of survival and trying to be friendly, but ended up shooting a bambi for sports , since i was fully geared and had nothing to do.

Where are the updates? **crickets chirping**

The price you pay is the price for the finished product, which is gonna be available soonest in one year, probably more. You getting acces to the alpha is just a bonus. It seems like they can put up as many disclaimers and "do not buys" as they want, people won't get what they bought and when they will get what they actually paid for. The hype seems to make it even worse though... And I do think 30$ (in my case 23 euro) Is very cheap considering the complex graphics of this game and the fact that the finished version will have WAY more content and polishing than this early framework of a game. Edit: I have to say though, that selling this game in such an early stage and giving alpha acces to people was kind of asking for this. Especially when i think of the hype around this game and the impatient, oftenly childish and melodramatic nature of the gaming community.

Where are the updates? **crickets chirping**

Oh hell... I didn't want my first post to be in a tear filled whine thread like this, but so be it... I can't believe how many people don't get what they paid for and what an alpha is. You guys paid for the FINISHED product while you also get the chance to follow the developement of the game, and even play it throughout it's developement. Now this here is a very early alpha stage, if this game was marketed the "normal" way you would probably not be able to buy it before mid 2015. But no, instead of beeing happy about getting a game for little money and beeing able to closely follow it's developement, people seem to expect it to be playable like a beta or even a release version (considering how unfinished many releases are nowadays). That's like complainig at a construction company that a building's heating isn't working yet when they just barely finished the framing.
