After all is said and done, handcannons are still bloody awesome! There is no denying it.

I hope they won't add in more "hardcore" features. My main reasoin to play HC is that 3rd person feels very awkward to me and I generally prefer to play in 1st person. I think most people play it for this reason actually. On the other hand... while I'd hate to see bullets doing double damage on hardcore servers, a more challenging survival experience (harsher environment, sickness, etc) may be interesting.

I agree on that. I prefer guns without plastic :D

Why is pvp and gunfights so bad in stand alone?
Buffaloe replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
As weird as it sounds, but Dayz could probably use a "little bit CoD". The large open world sure gives lots of opportunities for tactical combat, but especially in close quarters the game really lacks dynamic. I also think of Red Orchestra when it comes to how combat should be. It does not have to be as good since this game is not purely based around combat, but I'd welcome any step in that direction. -
Weapons need to spawn with atleast 1 magazine in them.
Buffaloe replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
Well it sounded like you were defending the way even civilian loot is concentrated on airfield and mil bases, although it makes little sense. Hence this statement was directed at you. -

Buffaloe replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
The problem is, that when your only good chance of finding magazines for even the most basic weapons is going to military bases, what's the point in those weapons anyway? Why use a sporter or fnx when the only place you will find magazines will also have much better weapons in stock? Also it would make more sense for "civilian" weaponry and the respective magazines to be found in civilian areas. -
There is a two story, civilian house that usually spawns tactical or UN-helmets. I can definitely confirm that.

Buffaloe replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
There should at least be a good chance for a weapon to spawn with a magazine. It doesen't even need to have bullets in it. Especially handgun magazines and those for "low tier" rifles like the sporter need to be more common as they are stupidly rare at the moment, rendering those guns almost useless. -
Why does the cross bow do more damage than the m4?
Buffaloe replied to taco86's topic in General Discussion
Balancing. You have to make a trade-off between realism and gameplay. A m4 has a way higher range than a crossbow. It's easier to hit things due to the higher bullet speed and lower bullet drop, and your firerate is also WAY higher. So, if you want the crossbow to be at least of some use you have to give it some advantage. edit: I also don't think it is that unrealistic for a crossbow to be more damaging than a 5.56mm bullet. -
Well, ran into my first hacker tonight. So obvious too.
Buffaloe replied to wmike20052's topic in General Discussion
I don't see any proof of hacking here... -
I think "bandit hunting" is just an excuse we use when we go to the coast looking for trouble. Once you are geared up It's almost inevitable ( at least for me :D ). I get driven to the coast by a mixture of homicidal/suicidal tendencies which fuel themselves of the enevitable boredom after there is nothing else left to do.

found a browning! ITS HAZ MY FAVOURITE TROJAN SYMBOL!
Buffaloe replied to brumey's topic in General Discussion
Yarp pretty much my experience. The problem is, the only places you have good chances to find magazines for many basic weapons (fnx, sporter...) are military areas. At this point however you will already be in possesion of better armament which makes the weapons those magazines are needed for redundant. -

Buffaloe replied to brumey's topic in General Discussion
Finding magazines is a bitch. The 1911 and FNX mags are probably the rarest. At least in my experience that is. It's kind of ironic, that the m4 mags seem to be the most common ones. -
Soooo, a semi-automatic hand cannon with a thermal scope? What about a gauss rifle? <_< I really do hope this is a joke. I could live with the gun If it and it's ammo were very very very very very rare. But a thermal scope? That's too much!

Domination, Subjegation, Manipulation. a Noobs Guide
Buffaloe replied to beansy's topic in General Discussion
Indeed, everyone can play dayz the way (s)he likes. However, noone has to agree with the mindset behind it. And OPs mindset seems to be heavily influenced if not even obsessed by control and power issues. I don't see any reason to confirm him or her in that. edit: @Pokerguy, your reasoning makes it sound that way though. And even if you don't believe in "higher intellect" you talking about commoners and people who posses "exceptional powers" over those, hints that you devide people into "common" and "superior" (?) which in my opinion is highly questionable. -

So living out twisted fantasys and control-fetishes in video games makes you a person of higher intellect (or even worth?!)? -
Streamers make Day Z SA look like so much action happens.
Buffaloe replied to KindsirCTHG's topic in General Discussion
Usually to watch other people's playstyle or to learn something new. Or as a form of light entertainment if one just can't be bothered... However I agree with you that I can hardly understand the particular popularity of Dayz streams. There really is not that much to see or learn, and watching a game that's mainly about the social and emotional investment of the player doesen't really contribute to a pleasent experience. I find streams/VODs to be way more interesting on competetive games like dota2 (talking about professional gaming though). -

Such fantasies better remain fantasies instead of turning into reality. -
Probably because of elektros reputation. Most of those seeking fights go towards elektro. Those who aren't as deathmatch-happy go north or inlands.
-
Well, I think the whole melee combat will need a major overhaul somewhere along the road. If a player is hit by a baceball bat or stabbed with a kitchen knife, there should also be way more impact than there is at the moment. At the moment, stabbing someone in the back who is armed with a gun will result in him/her casually turning around and shooting you in the face.

Domination, Subjegation, Manipulation. a Noobs Guide

This is kind of disgusting... -
"Why" is an interesting question indeed. I can't really think of a reason for such weird bugs to exist. The placeholder argument doesen't sound right. Why would they add placeholder sounds that distract the shit out of people? It'd be awesome if someone with insight could bring clarity. :D

Poll: Are you happy with update news/management?
Buffaloe replied to Ugly (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
The testers/public are well informed about what the devs are doing. It's not perfect, but the devtracker and the devblog give a good overview. Who conducts a little more research can get an even better picture. Considering many things are changing, and the developers can't alwas be sure wether things will work out or not, the information policy can definitely be called adequate. edit: When reading many of the complaint threads I got the feeling, that those who complained oftenly were to lazy to even follow the devtracker... -
Why do .22 mags spawn exclusively in military loot pools
