    Kick Dead Bodies!

I tend to agree, I served overseas in Iraq and had to carry people several times and it is no joke trying to carry someone while you're fully loaded under a high adrenaline rush. During it doesn't seem as bad but once done you are wrecked. Not to mention that if they are wearing gear as well. If you can drag someone it would be with arms around the neck pulling them or via fireman carry. looks bad I know..... This is hard enough to do without a ton of gear but is the fastest and most effective in short distances besides picking someone up, now if they have things like a sucking chest wound where air is entering the chest cavity collapsing the lungs during every breath then you would not pick them up. I could see being able to drag someone by the collar/shirt/vest but not for long, especially given the terrain.

    Keeping Empty Items Glitch

This would be great if when you set it to catch rain that you could set it on the ground upright and it catch rain as well as do this with the water bottles. I find it annoying that when I put the item on the ground I cant stand it up to do the work for me without sitting in the rain getting wet. Or if you can, I havent found out how just yet. Maybe it should change into orange peals? I think this would be super awesome if the same would happen with bananas and then we could make traps on stairs. O'Doyle Rules!

    Keeping Empty Items Glitch

Thanks for the heads up, the topics are related as your problem is the basis of mine as the items are not invisible unless they are empty. Hopefully this can be fixed as I used to have just your problem where you could grab them and throw them out or drop your gear to clear them out but now, it's gone beyond that into a malicious cycle every time a consumable is used. Just beware of the invisible banana, when you need that last slot at the wrong moment it will creep up on you and you wont be able to get rid of it.

    Crash to destkop, game minimizes

Your memory in game might not be set properly for your card?? Make sure that on your in game settings are adjusted to auto this has provided the best performance for me. I am glad that there was an increase in performance but sad that this did not fix the issue, make sure to check the affinity of the Dayz as well and if possible disable all programs that run in the background that are not required. I have a gut feeling that the program is running into a check-sum error and conflicting with internal process causing the crash. I have had one instance after I reconfigured everything where it minimized and then I could pull it back up. I also don't believe its a memory issue, It could just be that Dayz tries to load everything simultaneously.

Read full post before trying these steps: You must have windows, you must have administrator access to your computer; If you don't know if you have administrator access and don't know how to get it, you're in over your skill level, therefore I recommend you DO NOT CONTINUE. These are the Steps: Ctrl+Alt+Del to open a root menu to basic functions, such as log off etc. Then select Task Manager, Once Task Manager is open, open the processes tab while Dayz is running, you must do this while on the home screen that shows your name and character and the menu options for play, character, change server etc. Back on the processes tab select at the lower left portion of the task manager window, "Show processes from all users," Now select the Dayz process by right clicking your mouse on the name, it will give you a drop down menu where you clicked, that should have an option for "set priority" click this and choose the following option that best fits your need, it should be set to normal automatically. After you change the priority beware that your computer may behave improperly therefore I am not reliable for anyone taking these steps to change priority of the processes for their software or hardware. EDIT: sorry for the late reply, real life before game life

I was having this issue until I changed the priority of the Dayz to real-time. I don't know if this will work for anyone else but it's worth a shot. Furthermore I have found that if I turn my brightness and gamma down it would happen less often. Hope this helps someone.
  8. I wanted to report that I have been encountering an issue regarding the use of consumables. After my character has used any kind of food or drink unless it is a water bottle or canteen it disappears as usual. However, if there is an empty item slot in my inventory the slot closest to the top that is empty will become unusable. Regardless of trying to swap items or move the empty slot in many different ways it remains unusable. Now, to alleviate this problem I have discovered three options. Option One: change my item of clothing for something else. Option Two: only use consumables with a full inventory. Option Three: Log out and rejoin a server and the item I used that was supposed to have left my inventory will appear with zero percent remaining and I can now eject it from the unusable slot. EDIT: Be warned that dropping the clothing item on the ground with an invisible consumable inside can cause the clothing item to disappear or become non interactive once it has left your character. This is not recommended unless you have successfully emptied out the clothing item into different clothing and from here you can attempt to drop and pick the original clothing back up. This is not guaranteed to work. This happens with roughly 80% of consumables "for me." This is a low issue on the totem pole but I like to leave at least 2 slots open to remove my magazines before I log out in case someone is nearby when I rejoin a server. Only because my character emits the super loud reloading screeching noise upon logging in. Note: This is not a complaint and only an issue I wanted to bring to attention in case others are suffering the same thing. Don't be discouraged, there are ways to fix this on your own, it just takes time to get in the habit of only eating or drinking things that are in your hands with no room for it to hide in your inventory. EDIT: I have found that whenever I pick something up directly into my inventory or into my hands whenever I have an empty hot-bar slot, the item fills the hot-bar slot, after the item is consumed completely it will make the inventory slot it was in unusable 100% of the time for me. This rate only occurs when the item fills the hot-bar-slot, it does not make the hot-bar slot unusable though and it takes the same effort to recover the item slot as the other invisible consumables. EDIT: Just experienced a similar glitch with a Battery inside a pristine weapon flashlight, licked the battery to check the charge, the battery went into my hands and stayed inside the flashlight. After the action of licking the battery was complete it went into my backpack in one of the open inventory slots but remained inside the flashlight as well. Once inside my inventory I could not get it out. It would duplicate itself over and over wherever I dragged it to. Inside other item slots, over other items and erase the other item leaving a battery and wherever I dropped it. Furthermore these duplicate batteries were considered as one according to the game, each time I grabbed one all of them would become highlighted as though I grabbed everyone of them at once. The fix: Drop the clothing item on the ground. manually drag it out of the slot, it will not appear to have left just yet. Pick the clothing back up and it will be gone. However, this might take multiple attempts. If you have succeeded at removing the battery from your inventory, do not pick it back up. all the copies are bugged as well and will continue to duplicate like a virus. Hopefully for the sake of others nobody else picks these up and has to endure the same trouble. To prevent this I suggest doing this in the street where it is less likely someone will find the battery. For the record, a battery is considered a consumable.....don't ask me why. According to the game registry it just is.

Invisible cans, food, drinks etc. after use

Whenever you find an item on the ground you can't pick up, if you look at it and you have sufficient room in your inventory while pressing f, it will appear in your inventory. I have found it's easiest to do this in first person. Now this wont work if you are trying to pick up a second gun that wont fit into your pack like a mosin or m4. Still seems to be happening on my end at least. I had this happen to me last night several times in a row, here's the proof after I re-logged. Note that the entire upper half of the jacket was unusable until i re-logged and the items became visible again.

Invisible cans, food, drinks etc. after use

You my friend are a brave soul, I forgot to mention that doing what you've describe has increased the chance for my clothing to disappear when I drop it on the ground with a invisible item inside. I have also had the clothing item be permanently stuck on the ground and become non-interactive after the drop. However it has worked a few times but like I've said before, I suffer from this problem constantly.
  11. Holy crap, You're a brave soul to venture up those ladders of death. I've now sworn off those buildings until the ladder animation can successfully put me on stable ground once I've reached the top. Instead I feel like I need some hovers boots and a hook shot to ensure survival, I think I have died on those ladders at least six or seven times. Would have thought to leave them alone after the second death but nope, I'm dumb.
  12. I don't know about you but I could see identifying your position openly on a forum and the exact server you're on as an invite for someone with malicious intent to sneak up on you without your knowledge, This is why the original post does not request your server openly. I would suggest that you wait to be contacted in order to covertly arrange assistance. You might want to change servers and wait for help. Also, telling your possible savior how the operation is going to go down seems a little off putting (IMHO).
  13. Yes, I was...healed...However now we both know to stay away from castles regardless how appealing they may seem lol. Furthermore, I do recommend that everyone looking for help should become aware of land-markers, and mainly to become acquainted with the map. I cannot vouch for the accuracy of any third party map or anything like that but if you have the ability to use a map that you can share with others that supports the ability to place markers on your locations, this would be a good way of identifying your location. You could try using the DayzWiki map, it supports this feature. However I am not responsible for faulty communication or misrepresentation of your location while using such devices. I would also recommend that wherever you may be that you find a suitable place to hide and then log out, In my case I logged back in to a swarm of zombies surrounding my area with no alternative than to give away my position with gunfire. I would also recommend that your support should be in place before you log back in for help. This would prevent you getting killed or glitching out before you can receive help. As a caveat to placing items in your pants, anything in them upon broken legs is ruined, even a protector case which seems insane, so nothing useful should be put into your pants if your subject to frequent falls. Once again, thanks for the help Phoenix, it couldn't have gone better or worse lol.
  14. A: DrunkCrusader B: Broken legs C: Middle of Devils Castle D: Orange taloon backpack, green/grey hoodie, green motorcycle helmet, ruined TTsKo pants, stunner shades, hiking boots, black gloves, splitting axe, mosin and m4a1. Willing to donate either mosin or m4 and a med-kit with a blood-test kit inside for treatment. EDIT: no longer in need of treatment, however I am in need to pay forward the kind deed done for me. If anyone is in need, feel free to ring.

    Serverhopping mother-effers

Not all the time, its been a recent issue among bandits complaining that this breaks immersion and game-play if the person can disconnect from the server by shutting down the game before the server has time to catch up. This also can allow the person to rejoin a server and still have all their equipment. This has happened to me a few times after confrontations with people, as I walk up to their corpse they melt into the floor as if someone hid the body right in front of my eyes.

Sure can, if they alt-f4 fast enough the body will disappear and you wont be able to loot them. I'm sure this falls under conservation of energy.

Didn't you buy the game after you read the, "WARNING: THIS GAME IS EARLY ACCESS ALPHA. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME AND ARE PREPARED TO HANDLE WITH SERIOUS ISSUES AND POSSIBLE INTERRUPTIONS OF GAME FUNCTIONING." seems like you might have misunderstood. Everyone who purchased the alpha was given ample warning that you wanted to deal with possible issues and you got one. Yes I understand there are problems, that's why we are here to report bugs and help with development, Not taunt others and demand refunds over unsatisfactory game development. To reiterate the previous statements,"We strongly advise you not to buy and play the game at this stage unless you clearly understand what Early Access means and are interested in participating in the ongoing development cycle.” Nuff said.

    Serverhopping mother-effers

I apologize for the length in advance. Boy, I had to join to comment on this, I find this to be funny. I have experienced a similar scenario, I was running through the Balota airfield re-gearing up after the same server killed me on a set of stairs and just so happened to reset immediately afterwards. Upon my approach to any loot heavy area I check the players often. As I am sneaking up to the upper north prison I spot this flashlight spark on inside the prison as a new player has just joined the server, now mind you the server has just reset and nobody else was there. So I decided I'm going to axe this dude in the dark. Just as I am getting close enough to whack him, he runs into a room and...POOF! He vanishes. This upsets me, I know he is targeting nighttime servers with low populations, I'm chasing him down and I'm going to get him. Nighttime server after nighttime server I check and check, and finally I find him on a server with 3 other individuals. I became complacent of my surroundings in my need to kill this server hopper. I come up behind him outside the radio tower and just as I'm about to set my axe blade down in his cerebellum, CRACK, CRACK, CRACK! From two directions gun fire hits this guy as he crests the edge into the light in front of the tower. He goes down and poof again, he combat logs after being killed. Now the Irony kicks in, bandits begin to chase me into the prison, S>O>B. Now I'm the hunted and I didn't even get my kill. So I run upstairs as these three newbie bandits begin to try and sweet talk me out of the prison. I could easily log out like the server hopping combat logger. Nope, I am going to stand my ground. I can tell these guys are not going to play nice because they shot first, but they think I'm likely to be ignorant of their motives. They try and taunt me exclaiming that "I am a pussy", so I replied, "I'm not surrounding one person inside a building with my buddies." This seems to piss them off, the dumbest one chimes in, "It's four against one, come out and we will let you have this guy's loot that we just killed." Now, this would have been almost convincible if I hadn't watched the guy combat log and there weren't just 4 of us on the server at that moment. Furthermore, I would have to be borderline mentally challenged to be convinced of this plot. Finally after bickering from the three stooges, I decided to end it and I crept downstairs and they noticed, by watching me through the walls and one of them rounds the corner I shoot my only double rifle rounds into his face to no avail. Geronimo!!! Outside into the hail of gunfire blasting my pistol into the wind and I make it past them. You are dead, shot in the back and gunned down like a dog by three cowardly little kids whom reversed the role and stole my lunch money. God I love this game.
