Hello, About a year ago I setup Pwnz0rs server so me and a few friends could play. This went very well. Me and friends would like to play updated 1.8.6.1 dayz on our own private server. I have downloaded all the server files but am at a loss on any comprehensive instructions for setting things up. Am I missing them? If anyone could point me in the right direction here I would be very thankful.

Thank you B@ker for the response. I have to be missing something. That is the thread I downloaded the server files from. I dont see any instructions or tutorial for installing/setting up/configuring of the server files and database. From memory last server I setup there were files that needed to be edited, and database creating and import All I see in that thread is: Quick Install Info: Full Download Full Client Files.Navigate to your arma 2 operation arrowhead directoryExtract the @Client-1.8.6.1-Full into your arma 2 operation arrowhead directory. To start DayZ use a command line string like the below This seems to be just for the client not the server. I am hopeful that you have mis linked me and there is actually a tutorial somewhere. Regardless thank you for the response.

Breaking Point mod is the closest to it. Great mod, worth a play.

@OP - Honestly, what I would suggest is just waiting until the new renderer is fully implemented. This will probably take 2-6 months. It would be better to reassess at that time what your best path of upgrade would be.

DayZ Going to Become MMO At Some Point?
CyberGuru replied to topvicious's topic in General Discussion
it already is an MMO. are you trying to say f2p or p2w or some such? not going to happen. -
This is bad for PC Gaming as a whole. PC Gaming needed games like DayZ to keep it alive. Big business has succeeded. Good bye PC Gaming.

I like this idea. I would say only one campsite per person. And when you craft a second campsite the first one disappears to ease server stress and avoid clutter.

first signs of wind ! (Experimental Build)
CyberGuru replied to rotteck's topic in General Discussion
this begs the question: How many matches must a survivor light, before they are snuffed by the breeze. The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind. -
I have a tiny micro baby penis, but in the game my penis can be big.

[Resisting Downfall] All The Stuff You Want In One Server! LOW FPS!
CyberGuru replied to Parker903 (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I was wondering the same thing...... maybe on this server it means Face Punching Suicide, which is really a feature no game should be without. -
might be your evil doppelganger.

Releasing the Alpha was not a mistake at all. The mistake is buying the alpha and then complaining that its an alpha. Sounds crazy I know - yet people do it constantly. ;)

Hello Dean Hall (in the hopes you're reading this), You are doing a GREAT job. Please take your time. As you have said - you have the opportunity to create the game we all wished and dreamed it could be. These things do not happen overnight. Thank you for all of your efforts and hard work. You have provided allot of people with many worthwhile hours of a unique gaming experience. Again, thank you so much for this. You all deserve a raise for the bs you constantly have to put up with. I suppose that goes with the territory when you are building perhaps the most anticipated game of all time. Please do not rush development. Respectfully, CyberGuru75

nice editing job...... but what is this journey you speak of, i didnt get that feeling or vibe. felt more like a game trailer tbh. good stuff nonetheless :)

thats good stuff - thanks for posting it!

Definitely the RAM running single channel is causing your performance hit. Your good with windows 8 - performance reviews have shown that if anything windows 8 might yield a very small increase (1-2 FPS) in many games. The problem most people have with windows 8 is they stripped away our traditional desktop management and replaced it with something more suitable for the mobile market - a mistake even microsoft is now acknowledging. If you dont have a problem with it then your golden - its a solid gaming platform.

ouch - yeah sometimes it goes down like that. shoulda kept eyes and cross-hairs on that ladder, hindsight though ya know :)

Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251
CyberGuru replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
The #1 threat during a zombie apocalypse should definitely be the zombies with food/water/clothing/pvp all bringing up the rear. Zeds definitely should not walk through walls and go hocus pocus disappearing though. -
yeah - nice shots. you should be so proud ...

Impression of Standalone (from a DayZ Mod Veteran)
CyberGuru replied to chrismgtis (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
the devs are working their asses off to bring us all just about everything were asking for. please step back, have some patience and let them do their thing without all the negative distractions. -
there is always just sitting there waiting to starve to death. That works. Shouldn't take more than a couple of hours if your already hungry.

Are you implying that you were somehow duped into purchasing DayZ? There are literally 1000's of hours of youtube videos depicting the gameplay of the SA alpha and the mod before it. You sound really really whiny, but I suppose that is the plight of the ignorant uneducated consumer. My best advice to you, after you spawn in game - go ahead and take your pants off and save a bandit the trouble, then press F2 pick a direction and get to runnin.

I think the size of the map is fine. I agree that it does need more diversity, less copy/pasting of buildings and more points of interest which beckon for deeper exploration.
-
I found an amazing resource for you here - it will answer all your questions and then some!

Fellow bandits: Ever done anything you ever actually felt bad about?
CyberGuru replied to Weedz's topic in General Discussion
so your that guy walking around with 80 pairs of pants - you should open a consignment shop
