3 Mosin shots will kill a guy right?
DayZ_Friendly replied to blowkewl's topic in New Player Discussion
OP, we're you shooting with the iron sights, scope, or hip fire? You know that the dot in 3rd person and 1st person doesn't really show you where your gun is aiming, right? -
Killing bandit, and giving his gear to fresh spawn!

Cool, just don't post a video saying you were a hero where nowhere in the video did you do anything "heroic." You also need to re-think your idea that the only reason geared players are in Berezino is to kill other people. Under that logic, you have free reign to just kill anyone with a weapon on a coastal city. And I have a feeling that's what you are doing anyway. -
It's amazing how when you strip a game away of all the bullshit experience points and skill point accounting...that you get people that can't handle it. Like they need to have achievements set before them by someone else for them to feel the drive to play the game. Interesting.

Killing bandit, and giving his gear to fresh spawn!

Yeah, it seems like OP's only rules for being a hero is killing any armed player. Not hero behavior my friend. -

Dude, most of the time people's mics are so crappy I can't understand most of the people. Teamspeak is so much clearer than in-game. You need to consider this. -

Yeah, this is false heroism. You actually have to witness a player DOING something bad before you can kill him for the sake of being called a "hero." All you basically did was give some guy's gear (which he earned through looting) to a douchebag that just happened to run up to you. Boo you sir. -

BTW, who's the guy that's like, "Don't move or you're fucking dead!!!" Dude, relax. It's not an episode of cops. -

Shame on you. I saw nothing in that video that warranted killing that dude in the red backpack. Shame. You should go home and cut your inner thigh. BTW, you sound like a dick. "What are you doing in Berezino?" Who are you, the DayZ police? -
DayZ Standalone - Bandit Appearance?
DayZ_Friendly replied to hoogs's topic in New Player Discussion
Shoot anyone that yells, "Friendly." Shoot 'em dead. -
When the game first came out, it was your steam name that showed up in-game. Then they changed it so that you can type in any name. I think the developers have made it clear they want names to be changed. So, knowing names doesn't even matter.
-
I don't see how knowing anyone's name is going to lead to stopping hackers. Anyone can type in any name they want, so how are you going to ban?
-
There should be a 10 seconds replay that shows you how you got killed...like CoD.
-
I think we should have a special "whiners" server where people like the OP can go and direct-chat to other whiners about the rampant KOS.
-
These are the muthafuckas that keep asking if anyone has a canteen because they are all of a sudden thirsty and we can't leave the combat zone because people wanna kill us. Then I have to give this muthafucka a canteen and he don't give it back. He probably just throws it away again to free up two slots for some ammo for a gun he doesn't have. Then the next time we hold up a place, I gotta give him another canteen. Don't be that bro, bro.
-
Put alchohol tincture in canteen. Give canteen to player. Useless? Or you could just give a thirsty person some clean water. I don't know maybe help others. I know...useless. Also, you don't have to stop combat to go run to a water fountain to take a drink. But that's still kinda useless.

The reason they put in a timer for server A->server B->server A is to stop the ghosting that was going on. So you could see a player on server A, go to server B and go to where you can kill player on server A, then spawn in on server A and kill dude. This was rampant, so they put in the timer. Also 30 mins is overkill, 5 mins is perfect.
-
The private hives are for people that want to have a character that persists only on that server. They want to play on a passworded server away from everyone else. I also don't agree that server-hopping is a problem. What exactly is your problem with it? Especially now that a timer for logging back in is required?
-
#1 the game will become a subscription deal where you have to pay $15/month to keep playing. I don't think this will happen. Servers don't pay for themselves.
-
The problem is if you get "locked" to a server then loose connection to that server (because it goes down permanently), you wouldn't be able to connect to another server because you would never get an "unlock." Servers go down all the time without coming back up immediately. Imagine being locked to a server for 4 hours and not being able to connect to that server or any other server. This would be game breaking. You are only thinking in ideal worlds where servers never go down. This isn't the case. You would also require that server keep track of who is currently "locked" to it and send "unlocks" before if restarts. So, what happens if the server goes down and can't send these "unlocks?" Also, how would you handle the case of someone logging in, gets the "lock", and then logs off before the server restarts. They never get the unlock. Or that server would have to somehow "unlock" that player when the server restarts even though that player isn't logged in. I don't see how this could work. You would basically require everyone to log into one server, the server runs perfectly until it restarts, and the player never logs off and he gets his "unlock" to be able to connect to another server. This again would be game breaking considering the error states you have to take care off in a multiplayer game. Think about it.
-
How exactly would you implement this? So you're locked into a server for a full day-night cycle? What happens if you loose connection to the server? Can you then be able to connect to another server? If you required people to be locked into a server, then you would have to have a way for the program to know the status of the "current" server. If there's no connection to the server, then this information would not be available. There is no way to implement this server lock without absolutely breaking the game.

Maybe OP is role-playing being a refrigerator?
-
I would like this. Hatchet would take half the space in backpack.
-
How do we get this officially on a developer suggestion list?
-
You can probably just eat that there dude. There's probably no one near that shitty building you're in. BTW, I think the consensus here is that you eat all that food until you are healthy. Then drink a bunch of water until you are hydrated. Get a canteen fill that with water. Carry around 1 or 2 powdered milks and go look for a god damn compass so you can go somewhere else on the map.
-
You're also not fully geared until you have "Energized", "Healthy", and "Hyrdrated" status. Thens you retty for a fight. It's dumb to carry so much soda when you can have one canteen instead. You're wasting inventory space.
