This is quite the innovation. I think you should patent it and make a billion dollars with it.

Rocket on Ghosting vs Barricading/bases
DayZ_Friendly replied to Bororm's topic in General Discussion
I think it should be somewhat realistic. Being able to fist a concrete wall down is retard. Same with bringing a concrete wall down with a baseball bat...also retard. All of this is a result of too much minecraft. Wooden crap should be takedownable with axes, machetes, and chainsaws. Concrete should take pickaxes, sledgehammers, and explosives. This is probably what they are going to do anyway. -
So...you shot at some dude and missed. Then you couldn't find him again. That's what happened. I don't understand how you immediately assume hacker. I mean the guy could've just run off...

Barricades will be nothing when C4 satchel charges or grenades become available. This also brings up another potential problem. If they ever implement destructible buildings, what happens when you log into a building that was there before, but ain't there no more? I can see base building and barricading to be fairly straight-forward on private hives...but public hives???? I can see the ultimate solution to all of this is to divide the world into two groups. The "outside", which is not enclosed by any structure, and "inside", a particular area that is enclosed and has specific entry points (single or multiple.) Players will not be able to log into an "inside" structure whether it is barricaded or not. This simplifies a lot. Ownership of "inside" structures will basically come down to locking entrances. This allows for both barricading existing structures as well as building new "inside" structures. The only change in code would be that if a player is trying to log into any "inside" structure, he is automatically moved to just outside the structure. -

Also, what constitutes building a "perimeter." Do you actually have to enclose walls with cement and stuff and actually make sure the "perimeter" is closed off (in 3 dimensions no less.) If there is a "hole", then does that mean someone can log into the perimeter because it isn't closed? How are you going to know if you have properly enclosed a perimeter? -

Also, what happens if someone designates a perimeter, locks it out and logs off. Then another douche builds a bigger perimeter around the perimeter first douche built. Will now first douche not be able to log into his own perimeter? -

So, wait. The server is now going to have to know who built the barricades or who the perimeter belongs to? Because that would be the only way for the server to know who can and can't log into a barricaded perimeter. Also, what happens if you want several people to have access to your base? Will any of these "friendlies" be allowed to log into the perimeter? Or will a "perimeter" be defined and anyone trying to log into a "perimeter" will be spawned outside of it, including the builder of the "perimeter"? Once a player has broken into a "perimeter", does it become his now. Does the previous owner no longer have the ability to log into the perimeter? -
I have and they are very loud. Every time I've shot a gun I was wearing hearing protection. Even just hearing shot from like 20 feet away would make you go deaf.
-
What do you guys think of having gun fire affect the player? Say, it should be near deafening to shoot a gun. There's the audio, but that's not enough. It should blur the screen maybe a little when you fire or have a ringing sound linger after you fire a gun. And say maybe the more the player is exposed to gun fire without hearing protection they slowly go deaf? Is this too much immersion?

DayZ - Just a Game? Or also a pretty cool Social Experiment?

I think it's interesting that we can play as different races and genders. I mean why are people calling the black character a n*gger? The black lady "baby girl." Oh and the constant making fun of the other non-white characters. The racism/sexist aspect of DayZ has been the most interesting. -
Character Wipe/Reset is Annoying and must be top priority to fix.
DayZ_Friendly replied to TheLoneSurvivior's topic in General Discussion
Dude, you are probably logging in at some really bad places. I've already killed several people logging into the ATC towers while I was up there. Killed them with headshot before they could even move. This, I've been told, can look like a character reset depending on how quickly you are killed. -
So...it's a zombie apocalypse and we all have fancy electronic devices with working satellites for GPS....um ok. And I suppose the zermbies are working these satellites?

You should change "Fond Memories" to "Undying Love" -
I had: Intel I7-4770k Nvidia GTX 770 16 GB of RAM SSD drive Was getting ~35FPS max with max graphics at 1920x1080. Got another GTX 770 and with SLI get 60fps with everything turnt up at 1920x1080. Don't know much about your video card though, but I think that's your issue.
