How to set 21:9 Aspect Ratio for ultra-wide monitor ?
hleVqq replied to gorynych's topic in Troubleshooting

Some people claim they pull off at least 40FPS in any city with worse hardware. Under what screen resolution are you playing?

Time to reduce run speed with vehicles inbound?
hleVqq replied to Bororm's topic in General Discussion
The sarcasm "Zombie apocalypses are real and happen all the time" is on the same level as "World War III is real and happens all the time". Both never happened. Both may never will. I'm not weighting probabilities. -

hleVqq replied to Bororm's topic in General Discussion
It doesn't have to be a realism simulator. It can be a realistic game, though, as long as it remains fun. I do find a decent level of realism immersive, and thus fun. While I don't particularly have a problem with current sprinting speed (people can run this fast, especially from something as creepy as zombies who also run quite fast), my problem is with the idea that "DayZ can't be all-realistic, so don't try making it realistic at all". What is too realistic? At what level of realism people no longer find a game fun? -

No, did the later part of the post excuse the nonsense you wrote in the first sentence? -

There's a bunch of unrealistic video games out there. In fact, most of them are. I will certainly enjoy a realistic one if DayZ happens to become one. Zombie apocalypse is not an excuse to make other game aspects unrealistic. You don't claim that some World War III game is unrealistic only because there wasn't a World War III, do you. -
For me, it seems to be heavily related to textures. Seems my HD Radeon 6870 HD fails to load them quick enough, producing FPS spikes. Setting Textures to Very Low or Low (Filtering on Very High,a as it doesn't seem to make any difference performance-wise) seems to help a lot.
-
I am having a similar issue, and I don't think my CPU is the cause for this. i5-2500 @ 3,4GHz HD Radeon 6870 OC 1GB 4GB RAM 5400-7200RPM HDD Now why would a CPU cause horrible FPS spikes (with apparent issues with loading textures) 25 or so minutes into the game? RAM usage never seems to go above 80% (I suspect it'd use more if I had more, but it doesn't go 100% on my 4GB still). I suspect it's the HDD or the GPU (lack of VRAM?). The FPS itself is tolerable considering how old and weak the GPU is. I can't explain why the issue starts only after playing for a while. Restarting the game fixes it, flushing VRAM does not. Playing @ 1080p on everything low, except Textures on Auto → Very High → Very High. I'll try lowering those values too when I get the chance to play. Launch parameters are properly set. The CPU cores don't go above 76°C and the GPU doesn't go above 81°C.

Lead Producer of DayZ says, "1PP is better"
hleVqq replied to rickyriot's topic in General Discussion
Pretty sure it's exploiting, or at the very least an unfair feature abusing when you happen to be the first one to get on that rooftop. You can now follow people but cannot be seen yourself. You can take a peek for 0,5 seconds, shoot an enemy, hide, repeat. Yes, definitely abusing. -
Lead Producer of DayZ says, "1PP is better"
hleVqq replied to rickyriot's topic in General Discussion
I figure it's a means to get people to try 1PP servers out. It's a good thing, but do the devs actually prefer 1PP themselves? 1PP's disadvantage is way lesser than 3PP's advantage, in other words, 1PP is closer to realism than 3PP is, even though in 1PP you're less aware of your surroundings than you would be IRL. But people like seeing their character (because pressing tab won't cut it) and seeing shit without actually making your character look at it. -
Sometimes really nothing works and you just have to wait for them to disappear.

AKM with AK101's stock handguard and buttsock FTW.

staying healthy for a lengthy period = becoming "Fit" with small buffs to your character
hleVqq replied to kermo50's topic in Suggestions
I sort of like the idea, except that you shouldn't lose the fit status the moment you're no longer healthy. You should lose it when you become hungry or thirsty, if not when dying of starvation/thirst or having hypothermia/hyperthermia. -
If you like sniping (however screwed up it is ATM), then you may want to hold it. Once you found a Mosin, you can ditch the AK101 and then have guns for both long distances and CQBs. Other than that there's hardly a reason to have the AKS-47U take up space in your inventory. Plus like somebody mentioned, there's MP5K which can have M4 optics attached to it.

What exactly makes Standalone so taxing on your system?
hleVqq replied to anderswhk's topic in General Discussion
Many people have problems with GPU (and CPU) usage in DayZ. You're lucky to not be one of them (and I honestly don't know how). https://www.google.lt/search?q=dayz+sa+gpu+usage&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&channel=sb&gws_rd=cr&ei=51hbVLKlN8zvaqS-gZgI -
That's not passenger :/
-
But that's the thing. The game cannot detect a person's mentality. A KOSer shouldn't be considered a hero only because they didn't get the chance to KOS, or because they happened to KOS a bandit/KOSer.
-
A system trying to detect such things would be very unreliable.

What should I keep and what should I drop/trade?
hleVqq replied to LucidHills's topic in General Discussion
Search for AKM, AK101 magazine or MP5-K magazine, then drop everything else in that list except for the flashbang and perhaps 1911. If you really need space right now, get rid of SKS. -
There is no way for the game to identify whether you killed a bandit/KOSer because he's a bandit/KOSer or because you just felt like killing someone.

DayZ SA only utilizes 100% GPU in fields/forests. -
Read my initial post. I said that suiciding for your own convenience does not make you a worse player. Quoting my later response to you that only concerns a specific situation - situation where it's actually convenient to suicide - and using it as evidence will get you nowhere. So again, if it's convenient, it's fine to suicide and even a smart thing to do so long as the game doesn't limit you from doing that. As far as my own understanding of convenience goes, playing with friends is better if you don't have much to lose in order to achieve that. I said I like playing with friends, not that I will suicide to meet them no matter what.
-
Since losing gear is a big inconvenience, some time that you'd spend with friends has to be sacrificed for it. It's quite the opposite when you're naked and have to run for 20 minutes to meet up with friends - yeah, I'd rather spawn close to them and gear up together. The point remains standing: you're not a worse player (better, even, for realizing what's more convenient) if you're not geared and suicide in attempt to spawn in a more convenient location.
