So you got exactly the kind of discussion you wanted? Great.
-
About what, exactly? I haven't read the whole thread but the original post only consists of you bitching about how you don't like being mugged and telling people to shoot you instead so you could respawn. What sort of discussion shall come out of that?
-
So... what are you trying to achieve with this topic?

DayZ is far more optimized than you think tbh...

For some reason it does. -
2 DayZ SA copies, 2 Steam Acc., one computer

Elaborate on "brother's account always shows up". Did you go to Steam → Change User... and log in to your own Steam account? -
I had some great PVP success with FNX, so that's my choice.

What clothing set/weapons would you add if you could?

Would be kinda cool if your body could become an NPC zombie in case you haven't been killed by a hit/shot to the head.
-
You can set DayZ.cfg and the <name>.DayZProfile files to read-only.
-
Yes please. I'd even say that such feature would be super important in DayZ.

At the moment the only difference is that in HC you're locked to a 1st person view.

It's kinda true that Arma 3 is badly optimized, but doesn't DayZ run on an older and less requiring version of RV engine? If it runs better than Arma 3 it doesn't mean that it's optimized, as real client-side optimizations haven't been done yet, really. -
First time in DayZ may be hard when you're trying to meet up with somebody, but you'll learn eventually and it won't take more than 30 minutes.
-
Hmm, manners in a post-apocalyptic world where people shoot you or your legs for no reason.

I'd set it to something like -cpuCount=2 -exThreads=3 -maxMem=3072 -maxVram=32 -nosplash -noPause -malloc=system -winxp And use the batch file if you don't want to alt-tab everytime to set DayZ.exe to high priority.
-
-high only works with Valve games. Since you're using the -winxp setting and can't tab-out to open the Task Manager in order to set DayZ.exe to high priority without DayZ crashing, consider making a batch file (.bat) with the code below (right click -> Edit after making the batch file) and using it to start DayZ. @echo offstart steam://rungameid/221100set PROCESS="DayZ.exe"@echo Waiting for %PROCESS% to start...:SEARCHwmic process where name=%PROCESS% 2> nul | findstr /i %PROCESS% > nulif errorlevel 1 ( timeout /t 1 /nobreak > nul goto SEARCH) else ( wmic process where name=%PROCESS% CALL setpriority "high priority" > nul)You shouldn't put all your memory in -maxMem setting but rather the maximum of how much you're willing to give to DayZ (3072, for instance), as the OS uses up quite a bit of your RAM as well. -exThreads doesn't accept 4 as a value -- should be 3 or 1 in your case, but you'd better Google it. I remember having some problems (crashing-related, I think) with -skipIntro, but that may be just me. Consider trying -malloc=system out to see if it helps anyhow.
-
Since you're already suggesting something which somewhat ruins the gameplay, why not this: No reason to not have this unless for gameplay purposes.

I've been using shift for sprinting since the day I started playing DayZ and the changes introduced in 0.47 are still annoying as shit due to being forced to waste precious time by having to press additional buttons to achieve the same that was available before, plus the limitation of crouch to sprint which makes no sense whatsoever.

Zombies should be able to hit and break the doors. -
Again, it makes no sense to force the player to walk when they go into crouch position while still leaving the ability to jog. We have walk/jog key for that. So if you set it to jog, you should jog while standing AND while crouching. If you set it to walk, you should walk while standing AND while crouching. Going into sprint mode while in crouch position should automatically make you stand up and sprint because otherwise it just forces unnecessary additional button presses and doesn't make sense when compared to reality. Nothing to do with being or not being trained, anyone can jog while crouching or break into standing sprint from crouch position. Same would go to weapons. The walk/run setting should apply to both standing and crouching positions to avoid unnecessary button presses to achieve something that's available to players anyway. Regarding slow movement with a melee weapon raised, I found an easy workaround: keep the weapon lowered until you're ready to swing → raise the weapon, swing, lower the weapon → repeat.
-
It's annoying but a decent counter-measure to server hoppers. The problem is that after waiting 99 seconds it says "Ready" but the screen stays black until you reconnect, and then you have to wait additional time...

DayZ is not about PVP, it's just that PVP is the most entertaining thing to do in the current stage of the game according to many, myself included.

Movement controls detrimental to gameplay in 0.47 patch

How about you stop roleplaying a survivor who can't do anything?
