    Clarification on "Base Building"

It was super cool in the mod, I expect to be even better in SA. The only things that can ruin it is balance ie the amount of time it takes to build a wall to the amount of time it takes to destroy it and admins!

    Clarification on "Base Building"

So just cause it is not your play style, it shouldn't be in the game? Entitled much?
  3. The 60 second timer was never intended to discourage server hoppers, it was to stop ghosting. I have no problem with servers hoppers as long as they don't combat log. I want to kill fully kitted guys so the quicker they get kitted, the quicker I get to kill them. It used to 6 minutes so stop whinging lol The 60 second timer is irrelevant as they will be soon releasing server tools so that admins can choose their own timer if any at all.

    A Few Noob Questions

Hey man welcome! Death is a part and parcel of the game. Never get attached to your gear! Inventory management can be a cruel mistress. Some people like to have the big huge mountain backpackers filled with all sorts of crap, others like myself try not to wear a backpack at all. The answers to these questions really comes down to what sort of play style and what you as a player find is important. For me it's an evolution, at the start I will be picking up the first bag I can find and pretty much every single piece of ammo till I have found a gun and hopefully the right ammo. From there I start ditching any ammo I won't need and only keep ammo for the current gun and my "end game" gun. All food at the start I'll eat straight away unless I can't open it but once I am fully kitted all I carry is a bag of rice, a can of peaches or powder milk, and 2-3 canteens of water, that's it. You will always need bandages but I prefer rags at the moment as you can use one to make a splint instead of using a whole bandage (4 uses). Everything else is really fluff, you don't need any camping gear, you don't need cooking gear unless that is your thing. If you wan't more help post up a screen shot of what you are carrying when you are full. Yes it is an alpha thing, beta is when they balance and bug fix. Get an axe ASAP, the fireaxe is OHK and the smaller axe (which I prefer as it doesn't stick out as much) is a 2HK but sometimes it does 1HK. All other melee weapons are only until you find an axe. Yes it does but not 100% sure if it works all the time, still a bit buggy Absolutely, I can't even remember the last time I was a fresho! The trick to getting established is simple but yet very few new players take note and do it. Get off the coast immediately, run inland Check out a town from a far before running and looting Find a weapon ASAP, should be first priority, Second is to get healthy status (eating and drinking) and third is everything else Take the path less traveled. Go to the smaller out of the way towns. Never interact with anyone unless you have the upper hand Know the high PvP areas and stay away until you can effectively defend yourself Find some people to play with, the game is so much more enjoyableThere are a lot more but this is a good start. Yeah still a bit buggy, just have to deal with it. If you can't pick something up go into your inventory use the mouse to pick up the item and then throw it to the left of the vicinity box. It will reappear in the vicinity box and then you should be able to pick it up. Do yourself a favour and play only on 1PP servers. The experience is far more thrilling! This is an issue with persistent servers and hopefully will be addressed shortly. Don't play on persistent servers until it is fixed They are everywhere in house, cafes, sheds. HTH!
  7. Is it just me or should he not be bloody eating something, taking some morphine, starting a fire, wringing his clothes out, and bandaging himself?
  8. My pleasure! My ability to immerse myself in a game comes directly from how realistic said game is. It's the reason I play DayZ, For me as soon as you have an unrealistic UI like player markers my immersion drops dramatically. I play with a track IR and play in first person mode even when playing on 3PP. I think I have one video of 3PP, I hated playing like that, my heart didn't pump, I wasn't anywhere near as fearful and TBH it was rather boring. Yes it would help people not shooting their friends but is that what you really want? Again it's an immersion killer, I absolutely love the fact I could kill or be killed by my friends by accident, it makes me cautious, calculated and on the edge of my seat whenever I see another player. Friendly fire happens all the time in real world scenarios, why should it not here? It really separates the men from the boys, it gives your team something to work for, something to develop as a team. When my guys first started working together we were hopelessly unorganised and friendly fire would happen often. I have seriously lost count of how many times I have been killed by friends. But most importantly I don't want "HELP", I want it to be difficult. As said previously, if we could use in game player customisation then we wouldn't need artificial intervention. Extreme breach of reality? Hmm, I don't know about that. Most unfriendly players wear masks anyway, so you wouldn't know who they were even if there was customisable faces, you would be right back to square one. Look at the mod there are (were) plenty of communities who do exactly what you want and faction wars have and always will be a MAJOR part of DayZ. They happen now! Re: Your example - My team has a piece of clothing that as soon as we see contacts, we all put on to identify each other. It works flawlessly and since we begun doing it, we have not had one friendly fire incident. At the end of the day, I agree there is a problem however I don't agree on the solution. Sorry dude! If it was a server option that would be ok and once mod tools are released I bet there will be servers like this but as I have stated this goes directly against immersion and I highly doubt any 1PP servers would use this as it is a helping hand and goes against the mindset of a "realism" player. I would not play on these servers and if all servers became like this I would not play DayZ again. One of my strategies is to completely flank the enemy and kill them from behind because they think I am one of them. I have used this on numerous occasions and this would be instantly obsolete. It wouldn't ruin my immersion, it would ruin my entire gaming experience. Deception can be more powerful than weapons. As above, absolutely would ruin my experience! Also you can recognise your friends now, pick a piece of clothing that very few people wear and this will only get better as they introduce more and more clothing options. In my squad no one is allowed to wear mountain backpacks, payday mask's, gas mask's, and other items I will not go into. The narrow you make this selection the far easier it is to instantly know who is on your team and who is not. A question for you, forget immersion as I don't believe that is the issue, what is happening specifically to you for you to want this? Please state real examples of the issues that have occurred.
  9. First off OP, well done for putting effort into this. Most people just have a generic bitch without going into detail about why and how they would fix it. Now for your points... Spatial awareness (complex): 3PP-mode shouldn't even be necessary in a shooter anymore. We have been peeking in games that are much more competitive for over a decade now. We should be able to press a button to hide behind a rock/tree or beside a wall. We should be able to press another button to actually peek around corners or over the top of obstacles. While I completely and utterly agree, it won't change. The dev's have said emphatically that they will not be removing 3PP so there is really no point discussing it. I hate this more than you do. Spatial awareness (simple): 3PP-mode is the easiest way to implement spatial awareness which is why I believe it is still in the game.As above. Catering to the weakest link. Player identification (complex): In a game like DayZ recognizing other players is very important. It should be possible to discern friendlies from non-friendlies. I should be able to recognize a friend that is standing 1 meter in front of me. More customization options aren't enough. There needs to be some clear method of identification. It is the year 2015. I should, at the very least, be able to model my face, customize my body and change my gait.Completely agree, instead of wasting time making a "Dean" doll, it should have been spent working on the character modification. Player identification (simple): Add shake hands with players to see their names and become friends. Wave (F1) at nearby players to see message "You wave at <friend's name> and <other nearby friend's name>."Meh! Ok but unnecessary. If they implemented I wouldn't complain but I would probably never use it. Group identification (complex): Clothing should be customizable. I should be able to put large patches on backpacks or clothing. I should be able to tie bandannas to different parts of my avatar and my weapons.Agreed and apparently they are working on this to some degree. We will have to wait and see how in depth it is and how well implemented Group identification (simple): Hex markers for your faction.Sorry dude but no. I am really not sure how you can have a title saying "ruins immersion" and then want to add "Id tags" to fix it. That is a huge immersion killer for me, I hate it in Arma 3, it reminds me of COD. It's like trying to bandage a wound with a hammer. Player and group identification (simple, alternate): Crappy name tags after waving. As above Weapon firing mode (complex): Actually change the weapon firing mode using the real selector on weapons. Add a button to look directly at the firing selector.Weapon firing mode (simple): Show the firing mode as a status message when switching.Magazine capacity check (complex): Hold reload button to activate animation that pulls out mag and looks at the side of it. Add semi-realistic status indicator to all mags.Mag. cap. check (simple): Hold reload button to add text message that shows how many bullets are left in your mag.Compass (simple): Equip compass like in Arma 3. Hold K to look at compass. Done. This shouldn't even be talked about. Opening and closing the compass is useless. Why was developer time wasted implementing this?Health (complex): Speed should be directly relative to health status. Also, as you lose health, you should slow down. You should also start gasping for air. Screen should fade as more health is lost.Agreed and would welcome all of the above Blood (complex): Blood splatter proportional to amount of blood loss. This should show on clothing (so your teammates can see how fucked up you are) as well as in an overlay (so you can tell for yourself). Screen should fade as more blood is lost. That how it works now albeit poorly. Dehydration (complex): Increased heartrate. Simulate dizziness through post-processing effects. Aural indicators should be coughing or smacking your lips.Maybe? Injury (complex): Show it. If you have a broken leg you should be able to look down and see the bone sticking out of your leg. You shouldn't be able to walk.Totally agree Disease/sickness (complex): You should puke and sweat should run down your screen in an overlay. You do puke! Sweat? Meh! I don't want this to feel like COD with the blood splashes in your eyes when you get shot. Hypothermia (complex): Frost proportional to your freezing status should appear on the top of your screen overlay. Appropriate shivering aural indicators should also be added.Hyperthermia (complex): Vomiting, sweating overlay and dizziness. Sweating overlay should also be used as with sickness.Health, blood, dehydration, disease, hypothermia, hyperthermia (simple): Icons that appear when holding a specific button. Pink indicates healthy. Sickly green indicates unhealthy. Blue indicates hypothermia. Glowing red indicates hyperthermia. Pulse to indicate rate of status increase or decline.Maybe? Implementation is key.

where to find guns every time in 0.52

No offence, but no shit. It's not about "need", it's about "want". I have killed many people with a fire extinguisher, so should we remove all guns because of that... NO

Finding guns isn't the problem. Finding military spec weapons with the appropriate attachments and magazines is the problem. :P

Opinions on teamspeak and DayZ SA?

Personally I think it definitely kills immersion BUT this is a game and sometimes you have to draw a line in the sand. TBH, I think 3PP is more destructive to the game than people using TS. I have never thought to myself, "damn if only they weren't using TS, I would have survived". I can't say the same for 3PP. But TS is like 3PP, it ain't going anywhere.

    Keys bound ViewAngle Adjusting

I don't believe that is possible. The only way is to press escape, go to options and adjust manually.

Do we really need more zombies?

Rule #1 of DayZ never get attached to your gear! I have no concerns dying, it has happened a great deal over the thousands of hours I have played the game. My most enjoyable moments are after a kill and finding how much stuff the victim has, and how many weeks or months it must have taken to collect all that shit!

    shaking like crazy, cant stop

You are either sick (flu) or you have something broken. You need to light a fire preferably inside and sit by it for a while depending on how bad the shakes are. One of my characters has to sit for 45+ minutes, make sure you wringe all you wet clothes out to speed up the process.

Where did you buy your copy of the game from?

    DayZ Dedicated Server

Yeah it is definitely a nice crafting game. When DayZ is fully released then there will be PvE servers (there usually always are) but even so I just don't think you will get much enjoyment out it unless the modding community comes up with something to do other than PvP. What about altas life (arma 3 mod). Never played it myself but it looks interesting for that co-op challenge still in a sandbox environment. Also you could look into H1Z1 (out in alpha 15 Jan) which is similar to DayZ/7D2D but it is totally unknown at what level base building and PvP will be like.

    DayZ Dedicated Server

    1) You cannot. 2) I don't think this game is for you, have you played 7D2D?

    DayZ Vehicles (first implementation)

Oh god! We should probably spawn with M4's as well huh? Maybe stop server hoping and play the game like it is intended. WARNING: (For new players) Make sure the vehicle is completely stopped before getting into it. Also it is highly recommended you don't try to get into passenger side when the vehicle is on slopes.
  21. OP, while I somewhat understand your frustration, I do have a concern with your method of fixing it. I have to have my FOV set quite far out, over half way in fact and I have to because I get chronic motion sickness, if it is set any lower. Now a person who can handle a much narrow FOV is going to have a huge advantage over me especially if he can have at the narrowest setting. You say that someone who has set to this lowest level has the disadvantage of peripheral vision but this easily compensated with a track IR or well setup mice (eg Numpad 1 and 3 set to mouse buttons). So in summary, come up with a better way to fix the problem and I will agree until then I can't. Also I think 3PP peaking (or the fact that there is even a 3PP is more of an issue than this). You leave yourself very vulnerable when changing your FOV. Final thought: How does this even really effect you? I mean in my 6-700 hours of game play I have never thought once, "OH FFS, I wouldn't have died if it wasn't for his FOV changing". Out of all the things to gripe about in DayZ, I do find it interesting you picked on this one. Your other two points while valid have been discussed to death so I will refrain from repeating myself and others again. GL and see you at the VMC!

    shaking like crazy, cant stop

Also try to restrict yourself drinking from streams. Only do it if you absolutely must, drink form wells so you don't get your clothes wet.

    M4 Spawns/Rarity

We are all wrong at some stage dude! Don't worry about it, especially when the game is constantly changing, it's hard to keep up. Just found 12 heli's sites over the weekend between myself and two other buddies and not one single M4. Found every single attachment for it including a 60 clip but alas no M4 :(

    Average Lone Wolf Wouldnt Survive

I think people find it is easier to whine than do the hard yards and analysis what they are doing wrong and amend their behaviour. The amount of people that complain about KoS'ers but then continually run into towns without looking etc is astounding. A person posted a comment a while back about how he got killed KoS'ed three times in a row and in his story every time he was killed while on top of a building in Cherno. "I don't know, here's a thought, maybe don't climb on top of buildings in cherno?" Now OT: The game should be hard! It should be a struggle to stay alive, especially if you are a lone wolf. What it most certainly shouldn't do is make it impossible for lone wolfs and the "buff" of teaming up should be moderate. At the end of the day, the goal is survival so that shouldn't be easy to achieve.
