You are in the minority mate. No one (or very small amount) wants your suggestion. Now you have three options 1) Throw a tantrum like a child because no one wants your idea developed into the game 2) Cop it on the chin and say fair enough back to the drawing board 3) Wait till BI hand over the mod tools, hire a server and create the paradise you want. Which is it to be? As for my opinion. If any sort of profession/classed based addition is to make it to the game it would have to be non visible, restart when you die and have a very minimal scope. It needs to create a situation where people who don't want that sort of addition would hardly even notice it is there.

Welcome to the "you have no idea what you are talking about group". 850 hrs in BF3 with over 300 competitive hours and cheating was prolific. There are thousands of vids online, the forums were spammed with complaining about them. Just google it :huh:

Duping and server hoping while being a dick move is tolerable. They are only using equipment that any other player can get and I know some people are really bad at the game or have very limited time, so for me it's a non issue at this point in the build. For me half the fun is scavenging, so they are only doing themselves an injustice. I'd rather them concentrate on real issues like hacks and adding more content.

BF3 was over a hundred dollars and hacks were everywhere. I know very little about scripts but from my observations cheating is in every online game and will be for a very long time. The dev's do their best to limit it but nothing is unhackable at least for the foreseeable future. You can either let it ruin your experience or get over it, it is you choice.

Hopefully there will never be an identification system. In saying that BI are going to allow mods so eventually some servers will have them. Why does everyone want to kill the immersion?

It all depends on the other vehicles. I am not a fan of any weapon mounted vehicles like in the mod because it turns it from a survival game into Arma. Vehicles should be transport only. It was amazing parachuting down into the middle of a firefight and taking on everyone in the mod but to sight there and light up anyone you see from the safety of your warm heli was just plan overkill. It will be interesting to see what the dev's finally implement for sure.

I really don't understand how people can be complaining about the food situation, it is far too ABUNDANT and as soon as you have the healthy status you really don't require a lot after that. As a fresh spawn you can run from the coast to NWAF without eating, so it is not like you need to eat the instant you spawn. I don't know how many times this has to be said but GET OFF THE COAST!

I am not sure I like the whole fire and forget type devices. It requires absolutely no skill to pop down a mine in a high traffic area. Booby traps in forests would be cool as long as it isn't insta-death type scenarios. Being caught upside by a leg rope trap and only a knife could set you free. Otherwise you would have to wait till someone finds you or you die of starvation would be interesting but running along and BOOM, is just no fun IMO. Another one could be something that breaks your legs and again you can get yourself out of it or get rescued but it's not just a silly insta-death.

Everything that comes from the community is "suggestions" and the quickest way to get your suggestion ignored or discredited is to act like a child when delivering it. Constructive criticism should be and is encourage but don't act like everyone of your demands should be met within the time frame you demand. The dev's owe you a working game and it is already that. No game I have ever played is perfect and I have been gaming for 30+ years.

So, I was playing DayCare last night with my team and we had cornered 2 guys on a tree covered mound near NEAF after they murdered my mate. I had fully flanked them and knew round about where they were. As I approached over the crest the urge to press the "up periscope" button was immense not because I wanted it but because I knew I was at a huge disadvantage if they were in 3PP (which who isn't lol). I rounded the top and shot one in the back and killed him as his friend came running around a tree. If I was in 3PP I would have shot and killed him first, he was closer and more of a threat. We exchanged and we both died... I know I would still be alive today had I used 3PP but the experience, the immersion, the thrill was far far far more rewarding even though I died than using "go go periscope". Oh and do yourself a favour, go and buy track IR, simply the most awesome thing to hit DayZ since the removal of pants.

250+ hours so far... Never seen a hacker. I am not saying there aren't any but when someone makes a comment like then your whole argument loses merit and looks childish, weak and whiny. Now to answer your thread title, what has standalone become? Standalone hasn't become anything, it is what is and what hasn't changed apart from content since day one. As already stated DayZ is a tool, it's players make it what is. Be made at the community if you want to be mad and maybe, just maybe DayZ isn't for you.
