smaller suggestions and feedback based on the Alpha so far - let's make a continuous list
Bombhead replied to joe_mcentire's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Add a drop leg holster for Self loading Pistols, 90% of military and SWAT teams use these. Have belt scabards available for knives, but different types for different weapons. I like the backpack restrictions, but some stuff could be tied to the outside, Poncho's, tarpaulin's for sheltering under or even the raincoat when not worn. Weight carried and speed travelled should cause thirst and hunger at different rates, and the stamina of characters should make them stop running after an hour or 2, dependant on fitness or health. -
Good idea, disposable lighters could be available as well, with a finite number of lightings.

The You Tube video's are what got me into the game in the first place, the mentality of not just shooting on sight is a good one. I just wish more people would use it, I'm sick of being sniped straight after spawning while drinking at a well. Just what threat am I to the sniper as an obvious respawn? Perhaps if more people played the game as a survival sim rather than a shoot em up it would be a better place to be, after all aren't we all trying to survive the apocalypse? OK some of you guys are good at these games, and as an old git I'm not, but why not give people a chance, there are plenty of FPS games where you can just KOS.

military gears and weapons / possible solution to server hopping
Bombhead replied to daisho's topic in General Discussion
Just make that character and their equipment stay on the server and when you hop to a new server you respawn with nothing. Each server will have a record of what you had the last time you were on it and thats what you start off with. I am not a programmer, so I have no idea how easy or hard this would be, but it seems a fix to me? -
Weapon wear should mean more jams and misfeeds as the internals are getting dirty, especially the M4/FN45, which need more looking after than a shotgun/double rifle/Revolver. So the status of weapons becoming more worn should be different for each type of weapon. At the moment you pick up a pristine (Clean and working) M4 put 5/6 magazines through it, roll around the floor a bit, you should be looking to clean it to keep it pristine. If not then its going to start to malfunction. M4 users try to keep their weapons as oiled as possible to stop these malfunctions, using a cleaning kit should be high on users post battle drills. Differing weapons and weapon systems all have their advantages and disadvantages, but they should all be looked after, most experianced users will be on top of their weapon cleaning, after all its the one thing you need to work every time. Looked after an M4 should on average manage 1 to 2000 rounds between faliures, a looked after UK L85A2 will on average manage 30k rounds between faliures. Its all down to the gas system of the weapon, The L85 has a 21" barrel, so will be accurate and have enough stopping power to injure at 300m, the M4 with its shorter 16" barrel, will be accurate to 200m and have the same injuring effect. The L85 is a lot heavier than the M4, so its swings and roundbouts, Hopefully this difference between similar weapons firing the same ammunition will be included in the finished game.

Hi all, Bombhead here. Caught the youtube videos and just had to have a go. Never played Arma so Standalone is all new to me. I'm usually wandering around looking lost until someone shoots on sight, something that is happening way too much of the time, but thats the game I suppose. Hope to see you ingame, but hopefully not in your crosshairs.....
