how does one make a camp fire?

It's not possible yet on stable servers AFAIK. And here, http://bit.ly/1qoUczJ You're welcome.
  4. Hey Mono I experienced exactly the same as you. It made my game unplayable by far. Then, playing another game I noticed lagging in the menu and thought to myself my PC should be able to handle this perfectly. I then adjusted the resolution to my monitors native resolution (1920x1080) and the other game instantly improved menu-wise. I tried doing the same to Day Z drasticly improving both graphical display and framerate. Give it a shot if you're in a lower resolution. Playing on a laptop. Asus NJ750 or something, GT 750 M 16 GB DDR3 Core i7 4700HQ @2.4GHz No SSD Win 8.1 Using two 24" as extern monitors and shutting off the laptop display.... Anyways, hope this can help! Cheers

I can see and move but everything is black

Sounds a lot like nighttime, as levi have already said. Try finding a server which has a current time of somewhere between 0800-1600 to play in a daytime setting. Good luck!

    The Sporter is NOT useless

Great story mate =) And glad you got some decent interaction out of it instead of just "a boring kill".

    New status text Messages? O_o

It's just server-specific messages. I've found some to be funny and pretty confusing the first few times =)

Why dose DayZ wreck my internet for 1-2 mins?

Hey mate! I've got the excact same issue at times - tried doing all sorts of different things, but no luck so far.
  9. I really wouldn't mind having it in the game - as in it wouldn't bother me. But this really doesn't belong on an M4 in my opinion =)
  10. I'm running it on Windows 8 on a portable system. No problems =)

    Baited and ambushed by bandits!

Nice vid, mate =) Really liked it.
  12. I'm not really sure where this is going... Is this something that has been discussed before? (The topic name, I mean)

    My First Human Contact

Arrr, great story. I love hearing about these encounters that take various turns along the way. Good story mate, even though you ended up dead =)
  16. A short summary of my first friendly encounter... I'm new to Day Z, and well-versed in FPS. Now, trying Day Z for the first time felt really gratifying in trying to survive rather than just shooting people and blowing stuff up. So here is my short story told from my perspective. I logged in, and spawned where I left. I had spent a lot of time trying to find gear, mainly functional weapons, and had finally struck luck at an airfield far north, at aproxx. coordinate 044,044: A pristine SKS, and seconds after I was attacked with gunfireing psycho as well as a manical fireaxe-wielding maniac in tighty-whities, fleeing for my life bleeding and greying - but carrying my SKS... I was able to make it by bandaging in a nearby forest, while they ran around shouting and searching for me. Anyways, I proceeded further south aiming to hit a few towns on my way to the southern military base south-southwest of Zelenogorsk. I had a bit of trouble finding food on my journey, though water was in plenty supply. I managed to stack up on even more supplies, actually arriving at the military base with a full 35-unit rugsack full of more or less sensible items. The base offered a shotgun, which I then delicately modified with my hacksaw and voila; a new Close-Combat weapon, and plenty of ammo. Furthermore I picked up a broken scope for my SKS, which I later discarded, and a FNX allthough I didn't find any ammo. I then fell down and broke my leg, and spent 2 hours crawling trying to find either morphine or a stick to create a !%!#%#! splint to mend my leg. I succeeded - finally! After leaving the base, I tried heading south-east crossing a field where I could drink a bit more, and then proceeded Komarovo, staying outside of town just north of the road. My mission: Taking out ill-meaning bandits and forming up a group (if possible) while helping out other players with whatever they needed - and of course finding a Mosin for my earliest mentioned missionpoint. I ran further east, my heart in my throat, with 39 other players with very different goals from my own - or so I thought. I crossed the east-west bounding road, going south of both that and the railway, ending up in a swampy area between Komarova and Balota. Following the tracks, just south of them (very carefully), I spotted military camo-nets and Hesco, and closed in further, just east of Balota. Suddenly, I heard two things: A zombie screaming, which normally wouldn't phase me - but shooting and killing a zombie here would draw attention - and a few seconds after someone yelling at me - "Watch out, zombie!". Without further ado, I shot and killed the zombie in a single shot, and orientated myself towards the shout. Had I met another friendly soul or someone looking to lure me in and axe the back of my head while scouting our way. I didn't get the chance to find out, since a regular howling began when 4-5 zombies closed in on me, and I began shooting, bearing in mind that my SKS had 10 shots in its clip when I started this, and they quickly became a lot less. The aftermath was somewhere around 6 dead zombies, and a eerily silence. Then, again, came the voice: "Hello..." I was having my first real encounter. At first look, this looked like a fresh bambi - no real gear, only a shirt and a knife besides the regular outfit. We quickly agreed to help each other out, and I thought "Hell, why not just take the chance?" and gave him my saw-off as well as 30 buckshots I was carrying. We proceeded to look for gear in the military camp, shit out of luck, and then proceeded north towards the airfield hoping to, for my sake, find a Mosin and a Long Range Scope. When arriving at one of the flight-controller buildings, gunfire from a semi-automatic (or maybe slow enough to be a Mosin?!) fell upon us, and we sought shelter (again) inside the same building we just left. We agreed to wait and see if our attacker would come to us, or what we would have to do. I thought I was hit, as I greyed out at one of the shots, but no bleeding was present - lucky me? Finally, after 10 minutes of peeping out the windows, we heard and saw someone outside, claiming to be a friendly that had been drawn in by the fire, who had then killed off the sniper. We let him in, inspecting him: A green'ish figure with a bag over his head, a fireaxe on his bag and a scoped Mosin - interestingly enough the weapon that could have fired upon os minutes ago! Well, the three of us agreed to head further on, and press our luck on the sniper having friends nearby or not, just running wildly north of the airfield.. In safety, we devised the plan to head east north-east towards the "skyscrapers" of Chapaevsk to look for more loot, or maybe even a fourth member? That's when my phone ran out of power, my connection then disappeared, and I disconnected. A short encounter of meeting new friends was over... About me Name: gqren Age: 28 Sex: Male Country: Denmark I've had the pleasure of 3 years of service in the military and try to incorporate that in my playing (it's really going very badly so far!). I'm looking for other friendlies who are well-spoken in English and maybe up for using teamspeak, mumble or whatever to make our raids even more interesting, going to larger cities as a group doing work as I have already described. Anyways, thanks for reading and good luck on Chernarus =) Edit: Stupidity!

Newest update on my journey is entering Chernogorsk and breaking my leg in the city for the 3rd (!) time, now crawling around looking for sticks or morphine again. Sigh...

Then come battle me to death like proper arch-enemies do!
  22. Hi I hope I'm not making a redundant post, but I can't seem to find an answer to my problem here or on google even though I've come across several posts. I've even tried googling this more than twice, so you know it''s serious now! When playing, after a certain amount of time, I am disconnected. A red message pops up on my screen stating that "No message received for XX seconds". Some time after 1-1½ minute I'm thrown of the server, and start back at the point where it started stating the connection problems. It seems as if there's still some connectivity to the server while doing this, though I'm not sure. Regarding my spec and internet, as well as other games, I've never had any trouble, and I seem to be more or less constantly online without packetloss when pinging e.g. google. I hope someone has had a similiar issue and knows a fix =)
  23. Hey, Thanks a bunch, really! I'm very happy to hear that it's not just me. I just hope this won't happen in the middle of a firefight, then =) Edit: Spelling
