Hang around Novo for a while on a full server, and you're bound to meet some people. The tall building north in the city usually has people close by. For some reason I have met more friendly people in Novo than anywhere else, which is a nice change. Otherwise I still end up in gunfights every time I decide to yolo it and go to Berenzino.

There are quite a few funny moments, but I'll just pick the one I remember best. I was in Zelenogorsk and found a guy looting. He didn't have much more than an axe and a backpack, so I decided to do some "reverse banditry". After holding him up, handcuffing him and putting a burlap sack over his head so he couldn't see, I placed a vest, food, M4 with mags, ttsko jacket and a LRS on his body. I then told him I would't kill him and how to break out, and then ran into the woods to watch his reaction with my LRS as he broke the handcuffs and removed the sack. As expected he finally broke out and seemed quite puzzled. Don't think he had every had an M4 before and was new to the game, because he quickly started shooting and testing it. His shots quickly attracted zombies and he was jumped by 6 (!!!) of them. Don't know how, but even with the M4 he was knocked out and killed before my eyes. So much for enjoying his new gear! So I was back to carrying two weapons again.

I'm sorry, but no. He is not one of the people who ruin the game. Not that the game is ruined if you ask me. I agree there are way to many guys who KOS. KOS should definitely be a part of the game, but not happen with 90% og people you meet. But when I say too many people KOS, I don't mean for them to turn hero. In stead, play more like this guy. Kidnap people, rob them, dance around them and every encounter is different from the next. That's what makes this game different. Like someone stated above, where else, in any other game, would you experience the things described in this thread?

If you bind two different keys for holding your breath, and press them both while aimed with any weapon, there is next to no sway. At least it's a solution until 'hold breath' actually keeps your scope still for a little while.

Ok, so I decided to start playing more on hardcore servers, but to my surprise I spawned under the floor in a building and can't get out. On regular I often come across servers which reset your character, but can't find any for hardcore. Any other way of starting with a new character? Thanks for any help ;)

Think I´ll join you against the Swedes ;) Nice story btw! Love it when you take a chance with someone and it actually pays off! Been a long time since I met the last friendly in the game now, so let´s hope the next one I meet is more like you ;)

DayZ Standalone (where is the airbase?)
Kaupang replied to flashfire452's topic in New Player Discussion
http://dayzdb.com/map The best way to find where to go is using the map I just linked. Check signs and train stations for names which you can find on the map. As for the airfield, there are three airfields in DayZ. One in the North East between Krasnostav and Svetlojarsk, one just north of Vybor in the North West, and Balota Airfield on the south coast. -
One way to get the hang of finding the range is marking how tall a player or zombie is at 200m, 300m, 400m +++. Mark the heights on some paper with the corresponding range next to it. All you have to do when looking through the scope is hold the paper up and see what´s closest. Just play with a friend and use the map online to position yourselves at the right distance from each other, then make the marks on the paper ;) Soon enough, you won´t need the paper for reference.
