Version 0.43+ Known Issues List (April 4, 2014)
blazinone replied to blazinone's topic in General Discussion
Issue details for: Battle eye: update required Unfortunately it looks like there is only one workaround listed for crashes related to BattlEye updates. On my machine, I keep getting updates repeatedly but I can play through it. -
Version 0.43+ Known Issues List (April 4, 2014)

Here's the notes on that issue: Ruined Ammo to Pristine It does seem like a legitimate bug/exploit, but I hadn't noticed that myself yet. Oh, and yes I realize it's futile to try and stop the complainer posts...but what can ya do! B) It's still fun to keep an eye on the list as we move forward. -
Pretty good work! Thanks for sharing. I'd love it if we could pacify zombies and throw backpacks on them!

FYI, there does seem to be an outstanding bug with this. Just happened to come across this the other day since I was curious about doing the same thing. "2 steam accounts, 2 paid copies of Dayz, 1 in-game character" (not working) http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=10243 Keep in mind there is a difference between which character is displayed at the start-up screen (the vanity screen) and which character is actually used "in-game" (depending on which Hive you connect to - Regular or Hardcore).

I have a hard enough time hitting zombies with an axe when they are right in front of me...let alone engaging in some sort of firefight with a human at any distance. So yes, this certainly seems like one of the more critical "symptoms" of some of the client/server performance issues they are working through.

I love rare loot. Keeps me playing in an attempt to find an elusive press vest or just the right optics. So yeah, more rare but useful items would be great. But it sounds like you were thinking more like finding "caches" that randomly contain a bunch of different things? That's not a bad idea if you think of things like wall safes, gun safes, or unused bunkers which don't exist yet. One thing that might make this a bit more challenging would be to require cracking or otherwise opening the lock/safe. This of course would require one or more specific tools that would you'd need to find first.

..::I NEVER SEARCH FOR LOOT IN THESE BUILDINGS::..
blazinone replied to Upstart2010's topic in Gallery
Wanted to bump and say I like the list! I know of one or two other houses or buildings that I've seen that are empty but don't have any screens yet. One is a rare house that has all of its doors open by default which makes it stand out. It's a familiar floor plan and style but this one is a little different and always seems to be empty. And I think there are one or two buildings in larger cities that are empty as well but I'll need to spot them again and try and get screens. It would be nice to keep a running list as things change. Thanks for sharing! -
That's a great quality vid - first time or not. Well done. Now do one where you get into a tight spot and barely escape with your life. Or kill some bandits. Should be easy, right? B)

I chose black female a few times just to roleplay it. Has nothing to do with sexual appeal it's just nice to have an option besides "white male".

Need Help With Graphics Settings (PC Specs)
blazinone replied to blunce's topic in General Discussion
That 500 series of NVIDIA cards is notorious for running hot and these symptoms sound like a video card (or other component) overheating. A crash to desktop isn't uncommon and/or a scenario where your screen goes blank but the game is still running in the background when this happens. It's worth looking into your case ventilation and fan settings. Either use your BIOS or a program like EVGA Precision to manually set your video card's fan speed (to something like 75%) and make sure it's got enough air to keep cool. I personally have never had a crash to desktop in the game (crosses fingers). Just an idea... -
The other day I just happened to travel up to a mysterious looking tower and had a look around. When I got there, I could sense something spooky in the air for sure. I couldn't put my finger on it though. I tried to climb the tower and ended up breaking my leg somehow. Thankfully I managed to heal it quickly but that was enough for me so I skittered away without finishing my exploration. I think if I had know that *this* was actually the infamous Green Mountain I would have never made the trip. I'm glad I went and survived but I don't know if I'll go back.   Now, as far as Lizard Man goes...I think you may be on to something there. Talk about the ULTIMATE hunt. If there was just one lizard man 'AI' character that would appear randomly in wooded areas...what a prize to find and kill one. I like it.

Nice story indeed. Thanks for sharing. But wait, your phone died...so you lost your internet connection? Do explain...

So I had long range scope and rifle and died of thirst ...
blazinone replied to tornsage's topic in New Player Discussion
Yes, you can certainly become unconscious and even die of hunger or thirst. You get plenty of warnings like "I'm starving" and "I'm extremely thirsty" before this happens though. Here's a helpful, if not confusing, image detailing stomach size, health, blood, etc. http://images.gameskinny.com/gameskinny/a409aef030eabd724b63ef525319cf35.png -
military gears and weapons / possible solution to server hopping
blazinone replied to daisho's topic in General Discussion
I'm down for full randomization. I can do without the realism of things not being where they should be and it would give me a reason to visit some of the smaller settlements and out of the way places. -
The biggest issues with the Alpha currently.
blazinone replied to Forrelist's topic in General Discussion
It's a good list but I'm not sure how major these things are. Player spawns? They have a done a good job with those IMO. Spawning bambis on the coast is the smartest move because you automatically have a landmark to orient yourself with (the water and coast road). Putting new players in the middle of nowhere would frustrate new players immensely as they would have no idea where they were. Loot spawns are definitely an issue when considering how fast certain areas dry up. Experienced players know to just move on but others may end up being stuck in an area looking in every single house not knowing that it's probably going to be empty. My only suggestion would be to change loot spawns to be TOTALLY random. In other words there would be no need to go to a military area to find an M4. One may show up in a barn or a house for example (albeit rarely). The long term effect of this is reducing the number of "hot zones" that gear-seeking players inhabit. It would enable people to simply explore where they want and when they want and still have a chance of finding good stuff. But these are things, like others have said, that are already on the list and will certainly be addressed soon. -
DayZ And SLI Works, But Only While Overclocking?
blazinone replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
Interesting. Hadn't noticed that. When I realized SLI wasn't working for me I found this guide on Steam. Followed it exactly and now I can see both GPUs are being used, without overclocking. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=205916418
