You would have to make the dummy invincible while you log on and the wait time should not make this any longer for the player logging on ... The others will see you and have time to position themselves behind you to pop a bullet in your head as soon as you move. This idea is still not ideal...

Ok, so you made two threads on your ideas. This one deserves to live since it isn't as extreme as the last. Gagging stays in the spirit, since you will be able to put a bag over their head in future versions. Shooting people in the leg or otherwise breaking their leg is already considered by the game and shouldn't be hard to add. It will complete the vanilla feel of the game. It should put a stop to the excessive rotten kiwi death rate. At least players have a small chance of getting out of it, ... The RRF medics will have even more work ^^'

Let's not get carried away on yet another topic: (since OP said the discussion is over, i'll let a moderator know so he can close it down if he sees it fit) Here are two different type of non-lethal weapon threads: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/180662-riot-rubber-bullets/?hl=%2Bnon+%2Blethal#entry1861469 (non-lethal shots) http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/180673-non-lethal-weapons/?hl=%2Bnon+%2Blethal (other non-lethal weapons)

Yes, so I did understand. This is what the thread I gave you is talking about and the clear answer as you can read in every single post is: "NO" Here is what I explained on the matter: I really recommend you read all the post of the thread I linked, they explain every reason why it's not a good idea and won't happen
-
That's just a bandit (with no moral code)... -_-' there are many other play styles: - psychopath as I have seen earlier (same thing as this post but with the torturing frenzy and original ways to kill players...) - field medic (takes considerable risk to go save bambis and others in need) - militarized squad (allegiance to a specific group and no one else, they perform missions like clearing whole towns, ...) - spy (double-agent, or on the field informant), over-watch, sniper (a support play style) - list goes on, just use your imagination...
-
Nope, sorry, not even that ^^' doesn't this go against your idea? I don't get it? (I probably misunderstood) link: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/181806-add-bandit-hero-skins/ see how the community reacts to this idea? It doesn't correspond to the game at all and is very unrealistic

Cannibalism my friend, isn't done by mere pleasure in desperate situations. This is for nourishment, not for the pleasure of sticking someone's skin over your face to have a "cute" mask. Cannibalism might be added as feeding animation will be added to zombies and players will see them and want to do the same. I'm not awfully fond of this idea though, there's plenty of food to spare especially with the wildlife that will be implemented so it'll just be used for sick people once again. Cannibalism is already going too far. Also, do you wish to be able to do all these things to become a giant target for zombies? Wearing bloody flesh and body parts is like ringing a dinner bell for zombies. Edit: You outran me Byrgesen ^^'

Must you be reminded that this game hasn't been developed to be a more esthetic version of the mod? It is way beyond obvious that this game goes for realism and what you want is just the same old boring war game where you snipe from atop a hill with a big target drawn on the guy. Kos is not to be encouraged in this game, it's not the goal. If you want to do that, the mod is good enough for it, otherwise, any other shooter'll do. I think you just wasted your money, because this is as far away from the spirit as you can get.
-
Yeah, having bloody, patched up clothes, war paints, scars, a wider variety of clothes for bandits is a great idea but doesn't much to do with this post. These ideas would allow you to make clothes out of human parts but that's just too much work just for a small amount of messed up people like you... (sorry, but the devs won't think the amount of work they would have to put in this game to change the whole direction of it towards this, just to get censored right after is going to be very appealing to them...)
-
If only he was joking... This is already a perfect terrorist simulator, is there need to make it more obvious. Beside, we can't really say the game is gore, the zombies look nice but you don't have a close up of their face when they jump at your throat. And for blood you look like a foutain whan your hit, it's pretty funny actually ^^

Hey, i've been thinking about it on the heartbeat thread The idea would be to have a sprint time (and also speed, but to a lesser extent to avoid breaking the game (especially with the faster zombies now) that would depend on the weight you are carring (since weight isn't (yet?) considered, simply, the amount of stuff you have. Your speed would start off full sprint but quickly decrease into a jog that would last much longer but that would eventually drop as well into a stance where your player is dragging his feet (even though it would be a tiny bit faster than walking Finally, adrenalin would be a big factor. hearing shots, fighting, getting wounded, seeing player die. Even hearing sounds while hiding or going through a town, would give you adrenalin that would allow you to full sprint again, even while exhausted. Once the sprint is over, you would go straight to dragging your feet without jogging. Jogging, being what you need to be able to run for long extents of time, you would need to rest.

yes, and I refer you to the forum rules for your signature:

yup, I saw videos of people climbing down ladders around which where grouped zombies, he walked on their heads and left without a hit. It was ridiculous. You are such an easy target while on a ladder. You should be able to slide down the ladder (hey, we might actually have a use for gloves now ^^), shot, but only with a handgun, attack with a small weapon. And most of all: But they grasp at you and try to grab you as go up, and not just wait idiotically and idly in front of the ladder. They might not be able to reach you but they are gonna call all their friends over until the building is swarming with zombies.
-
agreed. It should be the replacement for the sewing kit were it can't apply. Sewing kit should be used on all types of clothing though. Backpacks could also use duct tape
-
Great idea, that makes survival in nature possible. Must be careful thought to make it a weaker alternative than getting their processed counterparts. It also has to be long and somewhat difficult (requiring cooking pot, fire, knife, ingredients, ...) to make or else it'll break realism and make this rpg-ish (potion brewing that is better than what you can find and faster than finding them in towns)
-
I agree with this idea inside the game. Having a very discrete heart monitor in the corner of the screen. Running is what you do most in this game at the time and people run half the map without ever stopping. It's exaggerated. This would give you a fatigue indicator as well as warning before you go into heart-attack. Adding effort fatigue (not overall fatigue) based on heart rate would make things more difficult and with the zombies faster than before, would force you to shot them down at some point is you can't manage to outrun them quickly. A discrete heart thump could also be nice while unconscious, but you shouldn't get any info on anything else happening around you (no noise, no chat, no voice). So since you shouldn't be able to speak to your buddies while unconscious, checking for pulse action doesn't become useless. And since you don't have any other means of knowing what's going on around you, you would only see jumps in your heart beat, letting you know some one is trying to defibrillate you. Otherwise, it will indeed help you know if it's useless to wait or if you're nearly back.
-
Again, I agree, falling off stairs and breaking your legs is already exaggerated but having your pants and all it's content ruined is really frustrating. They will have to make it so that the first way to ruin your cloths is when you go prone. Also, vaulting would damage already damaged clothes.
-
Yup, I do really like the idea of precise damage in only one part of the bag but I would be way softer about it. Here's how I see it: The box hit by the bullet would be determined as best as the game can and then that box would see it's content ruined, whatever it is. If it takes several boxes, weapons for exemple, rice, cereals, it would still be ruined, but in the case of a container like a medical pouch, a random content would be ruined, the pouch would go down one step in it's damage meter as well as all other objects in it. One Bullet shot would destroy what ever it touches but have very limited impact on the rest. At last, the hole would take the bag one step down in it's wear and tear state, which would increase the probability it will break and spill content on the floor after attacks, jumping, ... if not patched up.

Hey, do you work with the "rescue force" on reddit: "http://www.reddit.com/r/RedditRescueForce" Do you have your own team? I'm thinking of joining, just haven't had much time to play lately

Yes it has been said over and over again. Did you use the search function, because the last "infected" thread is at the bottom of the page. Are you also aware that both your comments aren't constructive and are against forum rules? (I mean seriously, are you just doing this for post count?) This isn't aggressive like the other variants of this post that I read all day, so reporting is really excessive but please refrain from posting since it doesn't add anything. Seeing this on every single post is getting old... If topics always come up, it's because they are of general interest. EDIT: This does raise the question, why isn't there a info bubble before posting a new thread telling you to check with several keywords that it doesn't already exist and then to tell you to add as many keywords as possible so people have a decent chance of finding you when they are looking for posted topics

What don't you get? Seems more logical to me than having people with different origins, sexes and blood types be immune to an extremely mutagenous disease. As long as it's not airborne, many people can escape from it. You would probably get infected from saliva, blood, body fluids. It would have mild effects at first, so it would spread around like the common cold (but of course being way more contagious) before the first infected start having the real symptoms. It would soon spread out of control as no one knows who has been infected yet. The survivors are the ones that where lucky enough to be away in the wild or were cautious enough to split from their families and friends. They isolated themselves at the peak of the crisis before the infected became zombies at which point the virus aged and was no longer as before (a possible explanation if you want to avoid catching the virus each time you touch a doorknob) The game seems to take place very shortly after the crisis if you consider the fresh fruits, high loot, ... so i don't see how it's so difficult to imagine survivors apart from if they had an unexplained and unrealistic immunity that dumbs down the purpose, feeling, and whole idea of the game

Exactly, that's what I have been trying to get across on a few other threads. It won't be a zombie game until you make the zombie a real threat rather than a minor nuisance. Hearing their moan should make your heart jump through your chest. And this shouldn't be reached by giving them surhuman abilities, that is obviously absurd and makes the player feel cheated. Hordes are being added but alone, it remains ridiculous with current pathfinding. Even once they they understand they can jump at your face rather than pursuing your tracks left in the mud, you'll still consider it isn't that big a problem, since you can run through the group and get hit a few times but you'll be fine once you bandage yourself. The possibility of infection will make the choice between melee and firearms really tough (do you want to risk getting infected or drawing tons of zombies to you), best choice would often be to flee. Being discret would change the outcome of a loot mission. I am pretty sure infection is considered by the devs. Detergent would be used to clean your weapons before opening your can of beans with it. That you would need to apply pure alchool to your wounds when bandaging wounds from zombies. A coktail of anti-biotics would clear you of the disease at it's early stages, before it gets worse.
-
Mmm, tactical bacon :P You've outdone yourselves, I never felt more understood ^^ :beans:

What I would find logical, is that the firearms you would find would mostly be on the infected. When the infection struck, everyone would obviously take their weapons and prepare to run. The munitions and guns would then be safe-guarded by dangerous zombies that often gather in hordes in towns and will infect you if they manage to hit you. Infected would once more be in main to the game. The fire-arms looted on their corpses would be damaged by the dirt and weather conditions. I don't think it's keeping a gun slung over your shoulder and staying out in storms all night near the coast with salty air is the best condition for a gun. Also, attacking the zombie with a melee weapon could also damage the gun. Since ammo is also kept in a soggy and most likely dirty pockets, chances of jam would be great.
-
I really don't have any knowledge on munition and even regarding fire-arms but is it possible to have ammo with same diameter (like the ones you are speaking of I suppose) that couldn't fit in the same magazine but could fit if charged a bullet at a time from the top into the chamber? It would be cool is some munition wouldn't work conventionally with another fire-arm but could have a work around to adapt it (although there would be consequences such as wearing out the gun, having it jam, ...)
