Welcome and glad to have your inputs and participation. I'll lead off with 'It's Alpha' - which is our formal way of welcoming others!

player characters are too fat for an apocalipse
makomachine replied to papazombie's topic in General Discussion
Could be we all have glandular problems due to fighting the infection! I'm all for more customize able characters in the final build - and an aging mechanic as well. Gives just another reason to stay alive to brag how old you are... Anything that makes people think survival first is a good idea IMO. -
What kind of Server event would you like to see and particpate in?
makomachine replied to Thaurus's topic in General Discussion
I'm still up for clothing optional football.... In all seriousness, thanks for extending this to the community. These events are a cool way to play in the sandbox. I personally like a city lockdown. -
Uaarraaaaaaaiuuuu.... My personal favorite for two reason. First, it isn't confused with a rabbit or other ghost sound. Second, it's Uaarraaaaaaaiuuuu, I mean, how cool is that?

Awesome enough to have its own pinned thread!

KoS gets balanced with greater environmental threats. No need to generate an artificial fix for people's boredom - Zeds, hunting, and all the other survival elements yet to be implemented will take care of that...

Found mine in Cherno on a second floor in town. Was killed shortly after by a mosin sniper, so only ran with it for 3 minutes or so! ;)

Game is unplayable since the last update ?
makomachine replied to poooz's topic in General Discussion
If you are shooting zombies, you are doing it wrong. It only gets more difficult from here I'm afraid... -
Improvised backpack and camoflauge should take a little time. Gun cleaning, ammo reloading, cooking, woodland medicines, sewing repairs - probably a bunch you could throw in here. Still need to make the activities 'interesting' so it doesn't become a grind - but like your thought process here.
-
Like your thought process. Maybe make it where crafting of various items can only be done in camp and over time. Definitely agree there needs to be a reason to camp before it becomes a meaningful game element.

I went exploring for the heck of it today and pushed as far north as I could - just to see what was past the water tower, north of NW airfield, and how the developers 'ended' the map on that side. Almost a bit surreal - afraid to roam the barren wasteland for fear the server will crash and my equipped character will be tossed into the abyss! Anyone spent any time figuring out how far this wasteland is explorable and how its 'ended'? What other places have you roamed that are on the fringes of the map?
-
Might just have to take one for the team and explore this via video capture. Will likely be rather boring considering. Maybe I'll walk some zeds up that way, a long trek, and have them explore it with me. What happens when they 'cross the line'? Yes, think I'll do this for giggles...on my next respawn. :)

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.

When the power shuts off, the zeds are roaming, and the next new serial killer roams the land, where do you hear about this in your mind to develop said view of this individual? Everyone that keeps suggesting this doesn't realize the glory of what an apocalyptic game should be - it's all gray baby. People get hungry and desperate enough, they'll kill over a can of beans. The glory of blurred morality is what this game is about - DO NOT TURN THIS INTO TEAM A VS TEAM B! We have a gazillion (that's a rough number) of these already... -
They say KoS is a gateway to other things. Don't fall into the trap! You'll be trying to figure out how to use a killstreak!
-
Right! There aren't enough games trying to be CoD already! THIS IS BRILLIANT! Killstreaks and everything!
-
That's what I feared, and then said screw it and ran a good ways in, then lost my nerve and high tailed it out of there! :)

Um... I think I broke the latest update.
makomachine replied to pacific_coast's topic in General Discussion
Game breaking - looks like Dsync and rubber banding were fixed, the handcuff animation works, bleeding animation works, Zeds leaping motion was 'enhanced' - but that awful in game music is a DEAL BREAKER! :) Crazy stuff there... -
First time I broke my legs was in a barn - off of the very bottom of the stairs. I proceeded to crawl up the stairs and fling myself off of the top area countless times to no ill effect. Had to crawl to the coast and off of a dock to kill myself. (Early on - didn't know about splints and morphine)

I believe this is exactly centered around DayZ SA - we are talking to its application in this game. Watch the video...

I'm agreeing - but in the video it was a fine line of peaking around an object from something popping into view, and something not. You think you mare looking around/over and object when in reality you haven't quite yet. It's a better trade off regardless. Agreed here as well - I'm strictly talking FoV only. I have central vision loss, so I'm hyper sensitive to this issue anyway as I use peripheral vision more than most. I play a lot of FPS and agree - not a unique problem, and doesn't impact the game. In many 3PP games, the 'exploit' is also less of a factor - as maps and the gameplay are artificially limited to minimize this in many cases (aka flat ground, etc.). I do think there is a compromise in the middle with a tweak to the FoV and the already allowing adjustment to head bob for those that get most ion sickness. I'm personally hoping we get VR support mainstream and polished soon to allow for much better real world immersion in games like these.
-
I like the thought process and would be fine with it in compromise. I do think it opens up scenarios where you "think" you are clear of cover and not seeing anyone, when you actually aren't. That could be frustrating too. Regardless, it's all a compromise. My wife has wicked motion sickness and can't play any FPS games as it makes her sick in short order. 3PP allows her to play more as that's minimized to some extent. I find the forward FOV more realistic in 3PP from a peripheral vision standpoint as well, as FPS isn't able to account for eye movement and our natural ability to see things nearly beside us. That said, I play FP as well, as I do like the more real world cover it provides and to me it's the better compromise. I do get the complaints of others around 3PP and the exploits this provides however. Interesting 'challenge' for development!

Do you make it a habit to "almost always" go for headshots
makomachine replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
No - I'd like to be that good, but I'm not. I follow what every LEO and most military training teaches - center mass... Loot be damned in a firefight for me. -
