Hackers In Experimental Build
makomachine replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Out of curiosity, are you in the EU? Reason I ask is that there seems to be a proponderance of hacking complaints in Europe. I've got over 250 hours in game - all hives - and have ran into exactly one hacker, early in my playing the game. (Wall hacker). I'm located in the US Central and sometimes Western area. -
Yeah, ammo is likely to make it a nonstarter. Likely a wish list item, rather than a prediction! It's a bad hombre!
-
AK-74U appropriate and desired - good call.
-
MP5 is a good one. FN P90 maybe?

One person's 'priority' is another person's 'who gives a shit'. Far down the list of things to fix in game in this persons mind. I'm not going to say its alpha - but I am going to say this is why the community should get less info not more. The moment a timeline is established for something, there will be deafening whines of 'why that before this'. Frankly, I'll take it as they get it done, on their timetables, and am happy to be a tester pre-release.

Maybe it's not the game for you then. I have no problems surviving, maybe even thriving, in the current state of the game. While the difficulty of what you describe is also predicated on mechanics that have clearly been stated are temporary - I imagine and hope that it only will get more difficult from here. If you can't manage Zeds in this game now with a melee weapon and your feet, you need to practice and rethink your strategies. Not trolling - just saying...

Never run away based on who is in server. I'm cognizant of it, but don't leave based on what I'm up against. Seems kinda weak sauce to me - but to each his/her own...

Zombies running through fences/walls/buildings
makomachine replied to -HOTG-Odin's topic in General Discussion
They have a new dedicated team working on it - zombies are going to get a lot of attention, just not sure that's next update though. -
Guppy labeled right - he called it a pet peeve, that's not making a mountain out of a mole hill - it's classified appropriately. Bothered me when I first started as I was already having a hard time interpreting forum short hand and road signs. Doesn't bother me as much now, but it's good practice for those learning the game and venturing into this community. My pet peeve? People wearing masks - reminds me of evil clowns - I hate clowns - click, click, booooooommmmm........

I'd imagine a lot more questions if they were to do that at this stage of development. Later - when we are looking at all core game elements in place and working bug fixes? Absolutely. Now would just drive more whining from people who have no idea how game development works. Why they did this before that? Why aren't they working on this? I can hear the whines already...

Why should you expect it to be spoon fed to you. Today's society of social media zombies (tweeting 'having coffee at Starbucks') has completely lost touch with reality. Take it to another DayZ forum that's more informative. We'll wait on your return.... Or you could just...you know...read the proper section, posts, developer blogs, media presentations, and road maps like the rest of us.... Not happy that a developer didn't share that he's working on shading the trigger on the akm today? Not happy that someone in a forum didn't spoon feed you a status today? Get.Over.It. There. I feel better now. :)

I 'see' what you did there... Beans for the eye...

Should we all start off with a pistol in Dayz Standalone?
makomachine replied to Jossell's topic in General Discussion
Flashlight as a melee weapon? Yes. Firearm? No way. Game breaker IMO. -
DayZ should always be about survival...
makomachine replied to Mukaparska's topic in General Discussion
Cameras would not be on my list as anything requiring power in the future should be last resort. (assuming game setting isn't years into apocalypse - then all is fair game). I do think barricading, improvised alarm systems, and IED's would spice up the 'let's occupy Balota' fun.... -
It's a game - you can't have a problem with our problem. :)Role play how you like - enjoy the sandbox and all it's freedom to be who you want. But we are getting in character here, do not disturb the actors in rehearsal. :)
-
Agreed. I also think it will create a much more consistent environment as people will naturally migrate to a sever 'where their stash' resides. Server hopping minimizes and you have a 'chance' of a community actually forming - alliances, enemies, etc...
-
Forgot to mention - key is separate Steam accounts.

Multiple copies of the game works on the same PC. It's how Sacriel (twitch streamer) has so many load outs for his streams. Never done it but know it's done.

For those that believe society would fall apart into mass killing in the apocalypse, read this thread. Humanity, even on the internet, has a way of finding a common enemy when the chips are down. Boo yah! Target acquired, missiles locked...

It puts the lotion on or it gets the hose again

Equating wars tied to politics, religion, and ethnic hate to what would happen in a disaster is comparing apples to cucumbers. Thailand gets hit by a Sunami, the world comes together. A Zed apocalypse would bring people together more than drive hatred and killing of others. Sure, there will be some killing, looting, and violence. Those are largely a portion of the population committing crimes today - hardly the majority. It will increase - no doubt - but there will be A LOT of people looking for help and helping others in a zed apocalypse. We'd all have a common enemy - that hooker with the overbite making the funny sounds and chewing on your neighbor. If you believe likewise, YOU'VE watched too much tv.....

Server restarts: Awkward log outs/ spawn locations?
makomachine posted a topic in General Discussion
I'm in a bit of a pickle on my HC character as I had a server restart as I was getting a drink in Electro at the well. Had to run to dinner anyway and was about to make my way out of town for a more proper sign out - so not sure what the future will hold for me when I log back in later today. What are your most awkward login positions and how do you handle them? I'm debating a low pop server login and move - but not a server hopper and feel like that might be crossing 'my line'. Thoughts? -
Welcome to DayZ. Rule #1 trust nobody; Rule #2 See #1

It's freaking cheap game testing entertainment. Some of my best moments in PC gaming to date, over 240 hours in, and less than $40? Are you kidding me??? <said in shrill voice while pinching self> Highly recommended if you are open to its warts!

Will We Ever Get To A Point Where... [SERVER RESTART]
makomachine replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
I sure hope so. As you say, for loot situations it's a necessary evil - but it needs to be highly stable in the future. Real immersion breaker and can cause issues when booted in a compromising position.
