i'm wondering if it was just a matter of dsync/lag. The fact he missed the first shot at the well, then missed you with the shotgun makes me suspicious that he was A: a really bad shot or new or B:shooting at someone who was somewhere else via the aforementioned dsync/lag. Guess I'll have to pick up a shotgun and try this out. Last time I had one equipped was prior to the latest patch and it did its job the one and only time I used it. If they did nerf the accuracy, and not just damage, then that is definitely a problem. That range in your pic is 'ideal' for that weapon.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
makomachine replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
I've got about 3 hours in on the new patch and really like the changes. Besides the no dsync, the zeds are now an actual factor in my thought process while playing. Do I climb that ladder? Do I have another way out if I go in there? Do I stop and use the fireaxe, or do I keep running? Is it worth it to loot that building? Not perfect by a long shot, but a definite step in the right direction. Let's get the physics/pathfinding worked out, along with a better spawn mechanic, then add even more. Got to be in that order though. -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)

To each his own - I'm fine with people playing it for whatever reason they like - it's a giant sandbox and adds color and interest to the game. I just don't want people pushing for the removal of Zeds, when clearly they are referenced in the core of the game (per the developer) and are part of the 'survival environment'. -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)

You are trying to change it into something it wasn't sold as... From steam, for your reference... About the Game WARNING: THIS GAME IS EARLY ACCESS ALPHA. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME AND ARE PREPARED TO HANDLE WITH SERIOUS ISSUES AND POSSIBLE INTERRUPTIONS OF GAME FUNCTIONING. Welcome to the world of DayZ, hit by a new and presently unknown infection which has wiped out most of the world's population. You are one of the few that have survived and now you must search this new wasteland in order to fight for your life against what is left of the indigenous population now infected with the disease. Go solo, team up with friends or take on the world, as you choose your path in this brutal and chilling landscape using whatever means you stumble upon to survive. I don't think you can argue your point - without arguing with the VERY BASIC premise of what this game has sold MILLIONS of copies under without, well, just arguing.... -

I'm glad you'd be playing - I'm saying It wasn't what was sold and not the reason I play. Want DayZ less the Zeds? Pick up any version of Arma and knock yourself out - just leave the standalone zombie survival game to its intended purpose. -

I don't want to play Day - I paid for DayZ. The Z is absolutely key - more and better please, thanks.... -
Can we use a single thread to gather input on players experience as they play the new version this weekend. I'm thinking time logged, Dsync experienced, log in issues, and any other feedback in performance all in one place. Just trying to get the info in one place for both users and developers. I'll log mine this evening.

Yes, it never fails... Sweet, found a red dot and pristine M4. A LRS and mosin are your next find.... I've found peace with LRS and mosin, along with the FNX IF I can find the magazines.... Usually the ammo then plays with you when you are settled.. :)
-
Time to pick a weapon and go it seems - two primaries are a pain in the ass for everything - eating, climbing ladders, melee attacks, slow run, etc, etc... Gave up on that in short order as it just wasn't worth it.

Forgot to add '# of players on server' to my list and on a mobile device, unable to edit my post. That would be helpful input I think as I know inputs been a factor.

Community Warning - Dont Pick up a King James Bible : Volume 18 Book of Job
makomachine replied to Dreypa's topic in General Discussion
Spent 2 1/2 hours - working my way from Cherno, up the NW side of the map, just west of NW airfield and haven't found book of Job yet. I had no idea there were that many different books in game - as I'd never payed close attention. Still on my quest until it's done - no matter how long it takes. Have more to suffer with now - got my LRS, mosin, FNX + 2 mags w suppressor, 3 bags of rice, a pristine red dot, and hunters backpack along the way. (Some was already had but - a lot was in quest of the book). I've opened all piano houses where I've found books prior, and went to the churches as well, so this thing must be pretty rare. -

This is proving to be as hard as a pristine LRS. Still looking.... Funny part is I'm spending a lot of time looking for something that is going to theoretically empty my inventory! Must be done in the name of science! -

On a mission and will confirm my results. I'm going to start with pants/vest - then the backpack. Only so many books I can find in short order! -

Where exactly are you finding this book? I'll try it tonight and report back if I can locate it. -

Back on topic.... Did the OP confirm this occurs only with backpacks - or does it also happen in pants and vests? Might have to do some testing here myself. -

If this is indeed true, I'm going to strt carrying one in my pants, to insert in my backpack when I enter a skirmish - any unsuspecting looter is going to get a rude surprise next time they play! :). Very strange if it proves to be the key... -

Can't wait for this - sure hope you get some 'reasonable' silence out of it. Anyone that has ever shot a crossbow knows they aren't 'silent' but should be very stealth when it comes to zed and PvP dispatching... -
Out of the loop, would love to be caught up.

Just had an image of you as the slightly deranged Soup Nazi - too funny! -
Why you should be playing on Experimental.
makomachine replied to Forrelist's topic in General Discussion
I agree - no argument there - although we should probably be doing it just as much in stable as well, at least until we hit the final release. Good point regardless. -
<Insert gif: Steve Martin saying someone should have a point to their story....blah blah...>

Why you should be playing on Experimental.
makomachine replied to Forrelist's topic in General Discussion
+1 (if you can log in) I enjoyed experimental for all the reasons stated prior to them taking it offline. Haven't been back in the last week or so, but was definitely a good time if you are into the 'survival' challenge. Last few times I tried none of the servers popped up - but guessing that is temporary. -
I agree with this thought process in general - but in reality, meeting up with friends, no loot respawning, and highly variable server performance, make this impossible in the real world. Agree with others - loot respawning is key, solve that, and a lot of this goes away or at least becomes minimal. When enough Zeds enter the game, logging at a loot / military location will be a death sentence.

Careful to all players when logging out
makomachine replied to MrMike_1981's topic in General Discussion
Dsync or not - this is good advice in the new build regardless. Zeds will still have a shot at you as you log out if not in a safe place. Best to always be somewhere where they can't be as a general rule. -
Obligation.... Wha?
