    DayZ: Why aren't you playing?

Lol.. I was drunk and writing from the in game guys personality. I was getting the bad lag but this last patch cleared it up for me, last night was pretty smooth as far as desync or rubberbanding.. practically none.
  2. Thought I'd add my most recent FB post to the forums.. Starving, lost and alone, I stumbled upon what looked like a hanger. It just started raining so I ducked inside what looked like a control tower. I shut the door behind me, hoping not to draw attention, when I heard a voice. Carefully, I chamber the last three .762 rounds I have into my beat up Mosin. Damn.. that was loud.. I just know he heard me. "What was that.. was that you?" I hear from the floor above me. Shit.. who is he talking to?!? If these guys find me I know I'm dead. Ducking low, I make my way to the stairwell heading to the next floor. I hear him again, "You didn't hear that? Shit.. where are you." Is this guy on comms, maybe it's a walkie? I didn't hear static, but his buddy could be in another location. I don't think he's here, but fuck it. I have to make a decision, and fast. I creep around the corner just in time to see a head pop up from the cover of the walk way. No time to talk, take the shot! .762 to the head is a one way trip to whatever god you believe in. Adrenalin is pumping in full force now, and I sprint up the stairs. Looking down at his body I see now I made the right decision, I hope. He was armed to the teeth. 400+ 5.56 rounds, an FNX75 with 2 clips and a magnum with enough rounds to fill every pocket I have left. Wow.. what a cache. I'm so busy looting the spoils of my kill I forget who he was talking to... *crack* *crack* *crack* and I go prone on the floor. I guess in my haste I forgot there was someone watching this cat. The sound is unmistakable (well, in text it might be). Someones got a Mosin zeroed in on me and I was lucky enough not to take the shot. I crawl down the stairs to the lower floor, and decide to just chance it and sprint. I hear another volley of fire and begin to serpentine. Shots keep ringing out, but I'm in the clear. A wave of relief hits me as I make the tree line. Catching my breath, I start to take inventory and assess my situation. I grabbed his pack, tact vest and a few other goodies. Searching through though, I'm no better off. I'm down to two rounds in my Mosin, and I've got an AWC Amphian S Ruger with a single clip. Wait a minute.. that asshole was shooting at me! Rage replaces fear and now I'm a bit pissed. Ok, so I took out your buddy, but odds were he'd have killed me on sight, so it was self defense. This asshat. however, had no fear of me. This deserves, no.. demands, retribution! I circle around a bit in the tree line, shoulder my Mosin and head back to the control tower. I check the tower.. no sign of anyone. in fact, the place seems untouched. There's a camo camping bag on the ground, a few mags of 5.56 rounds, and some other military grade gear not worth mentioning. OK, maybe he bugged out. I take a stroll up the tarmac towards the hangers, and begin scouting for gear. A pair of aviators, a damaged canteen and an M4 QCB butt-stock are some of my findings. Past the hangars I spot a small building, looks a bit like a brig. Worth a check. I head inside and start searching around. I make it to the top floor and spot something on the ground. Is that a blood test kit? Whats that doing here. I kneel down to pick it up, just in time. *tat* *tat tat tat* *tat* Automatic gunfire spills into the building, shattering the window. I can literally hear the rounds whiz past me. Guess he didn't bug out after all. As soon as the volley ends, I get up and sprint downstairs, stopping at the doorway. I pause just long enough to fire a single round, not aiming at anything, before deciding to, once again, hail mary it out the door, sprinting to my right. *tat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat* More automatic gunfire blazes just past me as I dive around the corner. I shoulder my Mosin, knowing I've only one round left, and decide it's him or me, and if I get the shot, I'll live. He must have thought I was circling around the building, as when I came back around the corner, he was slowly working his way towards the opposite corner of the building. His loss; I lined my shot, knowing I had but one chance, and took it... This is DayZ Why aren't you playing?

    Unplayable?

Stable just doesn't work now. I can sometimes get into a server, but that's it. Nothing works and all items just get stuck at "receiving" As for experimental, from what I can see, there are none atm. ***edit*** Oh, and the 200+ second wait to login after being stuck on a server that doesn't respond is a joke. Log in, can't move, wait 5 minutes, decide to try another server, wait for spawn for 3 minutes, wait 5 more minutes to see game isn't working, etc etc
  4. I was running along the coast once and met two girls.. voicechat and all!. They said I was cute and wanted me as their slave. Ok, I say.. I'm game. Didn't notice the other one circling around me till she hit me with a crowbar. When I woke up I had no pants on and there was a banana next to me. She said "guess where that was?" Her friend says, "no.. guess where it's going" they handcuffed me, shoved the banana into me a second time, then shot me. I think they enjoy the game just as much as anyone else >_<

    Server hoppers... more warning?

Characters bound to server would be awesome. I don't see any issue with this other than either requiring more storage space for the host or for the company. Most of the fun comes from those times when you don't have any gear (well.. for me). Would also solve the argument over friendly/pve and roleplay servers that I keep reading about, plus all the reasons you listed :)
  7. So I'm on a server with some guy I met in game.. we've been playing for the last like 5 hours or so.. server pop is getting really low.. it's down to 3 of us. We're looting the sw military base, and all of a sudden we hear loading behind us.. before we can turn around some guy unloads with an m4 on both of us. We were in the back of some barraks, and he ended up being behind us. Yeah.. ok.. so I know this happens, but damn, can there be anymore warning? We were both in TS and noticed the sound but died before we could even turn around. Do you guys notice people popping in the server? I get we die a lot in this game.. but I feel kinda cheated when me and a buddy scope a place out.. back in thinking we've got the only entrance choked off, then dying to a surprise log in. I'd love it if you logged back in at a random spot within say 150yds of where you logged out. I know it's prolly rare to be at the hotspot someone logs in, but it's happened on more than one occasion, and seems like it would be easy to just pick a spot, and server hop looking for easy kills on people who've already cleared the room your in. /endrant

    Spawn with friends

I like the idea of spawning with a friend. in fact, came here to post that very suggestion. If both you and your friend fresh-spawn together, it would make it so much easier to join up, with no advantage other than not spending 30 minutes jumping off the same factory to get a spawn closer to your friend. Inviting a friend to play with me should not entail 30 minutes of jogging just to start looking for gear together.
  9. I don't think they are bad per se, but I do hate them. The problem is there is no incentive not to. Private hives, a morality system, or perhaps a scoring system could help. I almost gave up on the game after my first 30 hours.. In like 15 encounters, not one person used voice chat. I'd say high, or friendly or wave and always just got shot. I never even found a gun. One night on hardcore, some fresh comes into a farmhouse I'm looting. He asked for food saying he was starving. Me too. We both enter and find two boxes of cereal. After eating in silence, we strike up a conversation and before you knew it we were surviving together. It gives me hope.. even though the next 20 hours or so were all silent kos..

Friendlies are plentiful in DayZ- At least, for me

Wish I had your luck. In the last 40 hours of playing, I only met one person who didn't shoot me without a word. I found a bunch of bodies right after spawning and this guy runs up and asks if he can have his way with them. I got shoot by a sniper a few moments later. At least there's hope that I'll run into someone who doesn't just shoot me on sight eventually.

your first interaction with another player

I've never actually seen another player, but I keep encountering them. I hear pop pop pop, then spawn. Happened several times now. Still looking though >_<

    Whats up with the mouse?

HAH.. how did I not catch this!

    Whats up with the mouse?

ok.. I get the "how people should" move idea.. but I don't think reverse acceleration is the result of that. If I decide to whip my head hard left, I don't move slower than if I slowly move left. Regular acceleration maybe,, but not reverse. Dropping all sensitivty on the horizontal access works for me.. a little getting used to.. but works. Loving the game btw.

    Whats up with the mouse?

I can kind of understand the idea (if it is intended) being that.. the more you over-react, the less you react.. maybe something about "freaking out" about a situation (zombie) vs being calm.. but damn is it counter-intuitive.. I'll search for that tool. Thanks for the quick replies guys. I'm sure I'll get used to it if I have to, hell.. just the few videos I've seen have me drooling over this game! For now, I've dropped the sensitivity on both axis down to min, it sucks having no sensitivity, but I'm not noticing the acceleration now.. which is a net gain imho.
