First monday after the holidays, bam... dayz news all over the place. Great start of the new year I'd say. Also the 500-1000 closed test is IMO the best way to do this. Even if that means most people will have to wait. The other debacle of some similar game which shall not be named, is still fresh in my memory. I can still remember the forums begging to pre-order so they can play, instead of proper closed testing first. Rewarding community involvement is also a plus. Too bad I was playing the mod, instead of being here more hehe :D -
I would argue that being a pug that hurps is not that good either.

Guys, don't you see? Remember why rocket made DayZ the way it is? To be a social experiment. He wanted to simulate the reaction of humans to a zombie apocalypse. This is just another social experiment. It kind of reminds me of that scene in 28 days later, where the zombie is in chains at the military chateau. They wanted to know how long it took for him to starve. Of course in the end someone set him loose and he zombified/ate a lot of people. I'm still trying to figure out the correlation between that last part and this thread :|

Steam will be used for distribution so if it's gonna happen this month, they will probably either begin or end the steam winter sales with DAYZ. It's not the full game yet and will have a discount so this would be the perfect time to propel the game into the world.

I'd still like this to happen. I've read somewhere on here that someone suggested a plane with floats added so it could land on water. Maybe with the standalone this can be a possibility. Ow and something like tow plane with two people or so to turn it around in a hangar or forest sounds great (suggestion by zakatak a few lines back). Maybe put it in first post?

You are not permitted to shutdown your server when your killed. You are not permitted to shutdown your server when you lose a vehicle. You are not permitted to kick or ban for smacktalk. You are not permitted to ban for suspected cheats or exploits of a non-server-disruptive nature, including but not limited to ghosting, unverified cheating, duping and similar, UNLESS you have solid evidence, IE logs.12. You are permitted to kick or ban for hate speech, including racism and homophobia. All kick or ban actions must be reported in the forums under section http://dayzmod.com/f...heat-reporting/13. You are permitted to kick or ban for ongoing severe hacking that is affecting players in a server-disruptive way. All kick or ban actions must be reported in the forums under section http://dayzmod.com/f...heat-reporting/Now the last rule is the vague line in this whole story. Hacked weapons are not server disruptive (global kills are) and if you can't confirm if they are spawned in, you'd have to refer to rule 11. Also please note the very first line of text in the linked thread (server hosting rules), you can get blacklisted by breaking these rules

I believe it's in the TOS or something that dayz server admins are only allowed to ban people over stuff like racism etc. Reason being is because you can't have a 100% proof out of logs. Hackers almost always spoof their player ID to that of another person in the server or just a random one. On top of that people actually find these weapons on dead players. Banning players for having certain items/weapons in their inventory could perhaps even lead to a blacklisting. Battleye is there for a reason and even if it doesn't work right away, most multihacks get detected after a few weeks.

Woot fresh start. Get to the CHOPPAH! On a more serious note, always good to hear that servers are upgrading. IIRC 13 and 20 already ran smooth, so I'll be back to check on the improvements. Does this hardware upgrade mean more slots as well? Keep up the good work. -
As much as I'd like to see this added, Rocket already stated that content addition will be a lower priority (read: probably nothing). Instead he is gonna focus on getting DayZ as bug-free as he can and save the content for the standalone.
