Do you think Zombies should be headshots only?

Yes, make it so that you don't have to go for the head but you SHOULD, and that it is more often than not would be the best course of action. It should be the option of firing one shot to the head or unloading half of your clip into their body.

I want the woods to be dangerous..

What!! The book was awesome! and he had an entire chapter about the military with tons of info on how they couldn't beat the zombies with modern weapons.

It wouldn't necessarily take that long. Some cats are already pretty large, if ALL cats instead of them were killed by dogs or zombies then the new generation would all be larger cats. I still think killer kitties, even at a normal size would be a nice jump scare for walking in the woods. I would really like to see the dog packs too. They would be proper scary. Imagine you are walking along and suddenly hear barking behind you. You couldn't out run them for long so you would have to find a ladder or a tree (if they could add that). Then you would be trapped and would either have to fight or wait for help. Also fighting 5 or 6 dogs that would be recognizable as current breeds, that jump at you and try to rip out your throat would be terrifying.

When you die... do you - ?

I just restart and loot as normal, though I normally take a break. I do find I care much less about my life though when I'm a fresh spawn and am more willing to approach people, though I never zerg them as I don't think that's what a freshie would do in real life.

    Are OHKO from fists realistic?

As a rugby player, and someone who has been hit in the head A LOT. I can tell you that it's very unlikely to be knocked out with one or two punches. Try taking a knee to the head at a sprinting pace and you'll more than likely get back up.

Do you think Zombies should be headshots only?

Yes but an adrenaline-high mind and inability to feel pain would make them COMPLETELY different to humans. If you shot them in the lungs, or belly or in their limbs it would have no immediate effect and probably wouldn't kill them for an hour or so.

Has anyone read the World War Z book? There were loads of weird things that were as dangerous as zombies. 1. Quislings: Insane humans who imitate zombies, they could be like zombies but less clumsy and better at fighting 2. Ferals: Humans, often children who have lost their parents, that have devolved into animals and will try to kill you. They could be like zombies but use melee weapons and are more intelligent. 3. LMOEs: "Last man on Earth" solitary humans living on their own in the wilderness. They are normally insane with loneliness. However, you can assume that the LMOEs are the players. 4. Feral packs: Packs of feral domestic dogs (not wolves) who hunt and kill survivors. Possibly could be the most dangerous things in game other than players. 5. F-Lions or 'Flies': These are domestic cats that have grown in to about double the size of a normal cat due to natural selection. They are called 'flies' because they appear to be able to fly. They either drop from trees or make massive pouncing attacks from cover. These probably wouldn't be able to kill you but can you imagine how scary it would be to be walking through the woods and have a bloodthirsty kitty just come out of no where? 6. Of course there are other wild animals as well. In eastern Russia you could expect wolves, bears and even tigers.

What, just because they burned in sunlight? I don't think you can really call them vampires but they aren't zombies either. They are a middle ground.

your first interaction with another player

My very first interaction was on my first spawn, I had been alive for about 40 minutes and was really proud of myself because I had just become confident with killing zombies. I walked into Elektro - in hindsight I was quite stupid because I was just jogging down the main street - when I saw what I thought was another zombie, except this one had a gun. I stopped, my wrench on my bad and said noting. Then I was shot in the chest, then shot again and killed. My first encounter with another player was some asshole that KOSed a freshie.

    Burning loot.

The one who chooses the battlefield is more often the not the one who wins. If you attract bandits with the smoke and set up an ambush then it would be really easy to kill them. Also the dreaded "I have no idea where I am" when trying to find friends would be fixed. All you would have to do is start a fire.

That's because they are talking about the movie with Will Smith. We've got to separate what sources were talking our zombie stuff from. For example the World War Z book (fantastic book) had completely different zombie rules to the WWZ movie with Brad Pitt (awful movie).

Ok, maybe classic undead zombies that only need a headshot would be bad but you've also got to consider this: In the game currently you can shoot a zed in the chest and it will fall right over and die. Now even if they are infected and not undead this is wrong. The zeds are enraged, bloodthirsty and insane - they should not be able to feel pain. Now, when a real person is shot what is it that actually knocks them down? Do they die before they hit they ground? NO, what stops a person who has been shot is shock and pain. Unless they have been hit in the brain, heart, or a major artery they can actually survive for hours although they will not be able to move because of the agony. Zeds don't feel this agony so they should be able to come at you even if their body is riddled with bullets, they would then randomly fall over a couple of hours later from blood loss and brain death. The Haugue Convention in 1899 banned hollow point bullets for military forces. The British Empire was opposed to this because they found that hollow point bullets that expanded on entry into a body were the only way to fight certain tribesmen in Africa. These warriors would be frenzied, probably flying high on all kinds of drugs, and would take half a dozen solid rounds to take them down (I saw this on some random history documentary, can't remember what it was called). How are Day Z zombies be any different? My vote is still for headshots only because I love zombies but I wouldn't mind a compromise as long as they changed the way the zombies take damage.

    Horribly uneven loot

I'm playing on a server right now and it is becoming incredibly frustrating. The loot is really, really uneven. I spawned and headed to Electro to get some basic gear before heading north. My usual list is, a backpack, some food, drinks, a decent melee weapon and some sort of top with extra storage slots, I thought this would only take a couple of minutes. At first I thought it would be really quick since I found a fireaxe, lots of food, drinks and even a pistol in the first few houses I tried! Unfortunately, a backpack and a coat still eludes me. I have been looking now for about 40 minutes, going through all the houss and passing by dozens of cans of food and dozens of medical supplies because I can't carry them. There are crowbars, axes and machetes everywhere... And pants .... there are at least 50 pairs of pants of all kinds in electro. And non of the stuff at the end of my checklist. I could understand if it was just electro but I have also checked every house from Solnicky and didn't even see a trace of a child's schoolbag. It's very frustrating and the fact that I'm a stubborn person doesn't help at all. There is loads of loot but It seems like certain kinds just never appear. Has anyone else experienced this?

Oh so it's kind of like I am legend? Most people just died from the disease, some were infected and we are immune? Maybe that's why it doesn't matter if they bite us ... interesting. Still though, as cool as that sounds I would prefer if they were classic zombies.

Do you think Zombies should be headshots only?

Ok. Well how about making them classical undead zombies?
  17. Wait, so what are the rules? So if we are going on Day z, then: 1. Zombies are fast and dangerous 2. The Virus is not airbourne. 3. Zombies do not need to be headshotted to be killed. So already it's quite different to say, the walking dead,, which I'm guessing everyone is most familiar with. Since the zombies don't need a headshot they would be more susceptible conventional weapons, but since they are faster they would cause much more casualties among civilians. Now there are a couple more rules that we need to get straight. I guess it's most fair to let the OP decide. 4. Do zombies die of starvation like in 28 Days? or are they functionally immortal like The Walking Dead? Since Day Z seems to be quite a bit after the outbreak then I would go for functionally immortal, 5. Can zombies KILL people by biting them? as in to say if you are bitten do you always come back? In The Walking Dead and the World War Z BOOK people always turn to zombies even if they are killed by them, then again those zombies have to be headshotted which is not the case in Day Z. In 28 Days if a zombie bit someone's neck and they bled out then they would just die, these probably mean that less people would actually turn, especially if you consider the next question... 6. How long does it take people to turn? Now this is a very important question and it has to do with the spread. If the turn is slow, like in The Walking Dead or The WWZ book then there is more chance of a bitten person travelling long distances by air and road thus spreading the virus world wide. However, if the turn is instantaneous, like 28 days, then there would be less of a chance of people being killed by zombies rather than being turned. It would also mean that zombies could infect larger amounts of people in a concentrated area VERY QUICKLY. The only downside to this is that it would be much less likely that the virus would go worldwide, in 28 days the virus could not leave Britain because of the sea and zombies would not have been able to use air or sea travel because they would be easily spotted. Apart from physical obstacles you also have to consider that if the change was instantaneous then the virus could ONLY travel as fast as a human could run/walk. If it broke out in China then how long would it take to get to western europe? months maybe? GODDAMN! THIS IS COMPLICATED!
  18. One problem, you are forgetting about modern transport links. Infected survivors (assuming it could take a while for them to turn) could easily travel all over the world in hours, you also have to consider that the easiest, that is to say the best, transport naturally goes straight to the highest population centres. If the black death had that kind of spread then the death toll would have been much higher.
  19. Given the actual effect of the zombies, then the starvation after the collapse of society, then the disease that would rip through high concentrations of survivors THEN the instability and lawlessness of a kill to survive world (which is the stage Day Z is at) I would say easily 95% of the human population could die. Especially considering that the countries with the highest populations would also have the worst means of combating the apocalypse. So, 5% of 7 billion is.... 350 million, Most likely in more developed countries or where there is a low population density like North America, Siberia/Russia and Australia. South East Asia, India, Japan and much of South America would be wiped out.
  20. Well... you have to carry bandages around, or at least rags. When you dropped your t-shirt to put on the jacket you should have torn it into rags and kept them.

    Horribly uneven loot

No it's not that I can't find loot, it's just that the loot that has spawned is unbalanced. There is soooo much stuff here. I'm pretty sure the entire server is just unlooted.
  22. I was on my way to Electro and was about halfway there. Then the connection went and I lost the server. I joined a new server (not a hardcore one) and I was all the way back on the northern coast, I had to start the journey again! Has anyone noticed this?
  23. When I am a fresh spawn I have a lot of difficulty with zombies. I find it very difficult to look for stuff and find the bare essentials I need to survuve. It's not until I find an axe that I can confidently take on zombies, other weapons take way too long and are all but useless against swarms. So, how do you do it?
  24. Sebidee

Why am I spawning in different places?

Yes I did, I edited my last post with what I think happened.

Why am I spawning in different places?

Actually no, I was a fresh spawn. I probably died, although I don't remember there being any zombies around (and anyone who kills a fresh spawn with the log out animation is the worst!) edit: It just happened to me again. I lost the connection, got dropped and then rejoined about 1000 metres from where I was dropped. Now I've figured it out. I respawned in the place where I started losing the connection, it turns out you can travel pretty far in 60 seconds.
