  1. Well I understand how to use my ears thank you and I would not be posting a thread if I had broken headphones. The ones I have are pretty good but it's not a magic gaming one, and spending €150 on a set? I think I would rather be shot. I was thinking that it might be a problem with the game, you know how many sound glitches there are. But it appears not, maybe it's just something I will learn over time.

Barricading on a hive server architecture.

Now that is very interesting. I'm sure there would be some kind of feature where you couldn't spawn into someone else's base though.

    Hunger Games

I'm up for it, message me if you are setting something up. I've seen the movie but what would be the rules in the game? Just fight to the death? Get out of here AsOiX

Pistols too inaccurate as well as m4?!

We need some way to nerf a machine gun and pistols. Making them accurate would invalidate pretty much all the other weapons.
  5. It seems to be working fine for me anyway. I was almost completely drained of blood yesterday but with energized and hydrated in my tab screen I regenerated it in about 30 minutes.

    Getting wet

I find this feature more annoying than anything. All it causes is my text in the bottom left corner to be spammed by wet messages and the blue thing to be permanently in my tab screen. I haven't found a way to get dry yet. On a side not does anyone think it rains WAAAAAAY to much in Chernarus? It seems to rain more than it is dry and with proper heavy rain too. When the rain can actually make you sick staying inside for ten minutes at a time is going to be a real bummer.

    You want anti-KoS? Add safes.

Or you could make it so that only the owner of the safe can open it. So if you find the owner you will have to catch him, hold him up, handcuff him, get him to lead you to the safe and then get him to open it on the condition that you let him go afterwards, that would be cool. Of course they don't have to let you go but they probably would. If you are walking in the woods and find a safe then you could choose to watch it if you had the time. Wait until the owner comes back and then jump him. It would be interesting to say the least!
  8. I think it's good even with gunfights. I like to take The Walking Dead as an example, in that show the gun fights are always short and quick and afterwards they have to deal with the zombis that they attract. Firing a gun is a big decision and you have to take the consequences. The following are TWD examples up to the current series: I like the way these simulated what a gun fight would be like in a zombie apocalypse with the survivors always having zeds on the back of their mind's.

    Concerned about the Sawn Off

By the way, why can't you put a sawn-off in a chest holster? Surely it counts as a sidearm
  10. My experience with new zombies has been brilliant so far, it has really improved the game. I had not played much in the past week since I found the game a little boring but the few hours I played last night were intense! At first I was playing on my own in Elektro. There weren't many people on the server so I wasn't afraid of bandits, but I wouldn't have been thinking of them anyway since the zombies were a real threat. One hit = bleeding which means you have to be much more quick on your feet when fighting them. Beforehand I would let a zombie come right up to me and would stay still to kill it, often getting hit once or twice in the process - that is not an option now! What is even more important is sneaking up behind them and killing them without alerting them. Previously you would kill zombies to clear a town and then loot at your leisure, running from building to building. Now you only clear a path from building to building. Because zombies respawn you cannot double back meaning that you have to be strategic and plan your way through a city. The numbers of zombies are also vastly improved. I turned a corner in Elektro to see six, six! zombies on the street. When I stopped in shock I was hit by a zombie that had been following me and began to bleed. I had to sprint past the zombies and zig zag between them to find a safe place to bandage. I found a ladder up the side of the building and climbed it. After bandaging myself on the roof I was faced with the conundrum of how to get down as the zombies had gathered at the base of the ladder I had climbed. It took me five minutes to scour the top of the roof for another ladder (I was playing hardcore). When I got down I decided to 'ring the dinner bell' and fired my pistol. I then had a battle with my fireaxe and killed about 15 zombies before fleeing. Later I was playing with my friend. We were having a lot of difficulty fighting the zombies and were bleeding a lot. At one point I fell down the stairs in the fire station and my friend left to find a split. I sat in the corner with my axe raised terrified that a zombie would come in and kill me while I couldn't dodge. Again I was afraid of zombies coming into building, not players. When my friend came back he was trailing 4 zombies and I listened to the battle helplessly hoping one wouldn't come in. Later after I was fixed up I went off on my own briefly and my friend warned me, saying "Don't get eaten" when beforehand the warning was always "Don't get shot." We ended the session with another battle, although this time we had not rung the dinner bell. We were cornered in a field outside of Elektro by zombies that came in waves on threes and fours. We were taking turns fighting with axes and bandaging and by the end of the battle must have killed at least 30 between us. All in all, Day Z has really become a zombie game. I love it!

    leg injury

That's not the problem the OP brought up, it's that all his items were completely ruined in one hit. I've got this problem as well.

    I was killed by zombies

They ATE your friend?! that's terrifying!!! you have to tell us more! did they like, just on top of him and start chewing or something? or did they just swarm him?

    RAIN!

I have a feeling that this boredom problem will go when they bring in other features such as cooking or crafting or whatever else that requires you to stay stationary for a while. When it rains you just go inside and do that. I do think it rains a little bit too much though. Maybe if they just made then little showers rather than 20 minute downpours it would make them more manageable.
  14. There is a dam ... somewhere. I'm sure that's deep enough to swim in.

    It has happened...

Really? uh that's a bit of a disappointment. Well then Day Zero has to stand for the apocalypse then. Zombie apocalypse. Anyway, my point is that this game is not a military simulator, it's parent is. If that is what you want in a game then you would be foolish to buy Day Z, as would the developers to pander to people who are complaining about the zombies right now.
  16. and also there in lies the difference between military and civilian weapons. Military is all about high rate of fire for suppression as well as durability for less than favourable conditions and likely poor maintenance opportunities. Also, they need to be able to be mass produced. Civilian weapons are different. The main uses would be protection or hunting. High rates of fire are useless for hunting, after a few shots accuracy is out the window, what you need is an accurate, high caliber weapon for taking things out at long distance which may be quite a lot bigger than a man. For protection you might need the opposite, something small and compact which can be carried.
  17. That's actually my favourite episode of family guy :) it's all true! EDIT; I've already replayed the clip 3 times

    It has happened...

Oh sweet merciful god. I cannot believe that first quote. "You can't be in a firefight because you need someone to kill zombies and that gives away your position" Lets dissect this shall we? This person is angry because he can't have military style firefights against players because there are too many zombies. Oh why, oh why, oh jesus' tits why? MILITARY STYLE FIREFIGHTS ARE NOT THE POINT OF DAYZ. It's about zombies, that's what the Z stands for in the title!! There are other games which let you shoot people. Go play those. People mistaking Day z for a completely different game than what it is are the people who are destroying it.
  19. This is where the American influence comes in to play. According to many forumites an M16 is as essential a household object as a toaster, and falls firmly into the area of 'civilian' weapons.

    Patch notes?

Is there somewhere where all of the new additions are written down? It's probably somewhere really obvious and is staring me in the face, it would be really appreciated if someone could drop a link. If there aren't any patch notes then could you please note them here? I want to know what to look out for.

    The Curse of Green Mountain

I went to green mountain yesterday. I found an SKS, a UK tactical vest and a clip for my FNX. What curse?

    Balaclava's

Balaclava, from the Battle of Balaclava, that's a much cooler name than ski-mask.

Most scenic spot in Chernarus plus?

I like the castles, whenever I see one on the horizon I always go to investigate.
  24. I had a very weird experience the other day with some 'Heroes'. I had just been killed and respawned on the coast. Next thing I see these two players approach me with guns, I thought I was dead but it turned out they were friendly ... too friendly. Here's the conversation [also I found out near the end of it that my microphone wasn't working]: Hero: Hey man do you need any food? Me: No I'm fine. Hero: I'll put down an open can for you. I'd give you more but I'm running out. Me: If you're running out then keep it, I don't need it. Hero: Remember that when you find a can you will not be able to open it unless you have a can opener or a sharp weapon. Me: What? I know. Jeez Hero: You can head to the town - that way - where you can find a pump to get hydrated. Just drink until it says you are full, then you should head inland. Be careful of bandits ... [advice keeps going] Me: Why are you telling me this? I have 50 hours! Hero: [to his friend] I think he might be a little shy. Me: SHY?! can't you here me? ... shit my mic is broken. Hero: Are you ok man? need anymore help? [now at this stage I hated this guy, I knew how to play the game and what he was telling me was Day Z 101. I really didn't like his condescending tone. I wanted to type that he should piss off and try doing something else that wasn't mind numbingly stupid. But who has time for a speech? Me [typed]: No. Thanks. Goodbye. I ran off but decided to double back and follow them from cover to see what he did. I was also tempted to find an axe and whack the guy when he wasn't looking. What I observed was the guy stopping 3 other fresh spawns and doing the same thing. Now, here is why this kind of behaviour just makes no sense to me. These people are NOT new players, they are just people who had died. Giving them a can of food and a lecture on how to eat and drink is not really helping. Just because they do not have a weapon or millitary clothes does not equal a new players. The worst part is that the hero's actions were actually counter intuitive. He said that he was trying to make Day Z a better place by being friendly and helping new players. This was his attempt to stop bandits. The only problem is that he was actually doing his best to HELP bandits. You see there are two types of players in Day Z. There are PvPers and RP Survivors. The RP Survivors, by definition, survive. They keep to the countryside and try to avoid contact with other players. PvPers on the other hand do not survive, they actively seek out players and confrontation and therefore die quite a lot more than average. So the players on the coast are not new players, they are reincarnated bandits. By giving them some food you are not saving their bitter souls, you are getting them back to banditry all the faster. TL;DR Why do heroes think fresh spawns are new players? They are actually respawned bandits and there is no point helping them.
  25. Hey man look, the whole point of the thread was that he was so heroic it hurt.
