Do you think Bi will add that little bit extra when dayz is done?
Sebidee replied to Sooden's topic in General Discussion
Ah, that makes sense. Maybe they could save your killcam and you can watch it on the login screen later? (say after 10 minutes). -

What I would like to see as a little something extra is a killcam. You can rewind and see exactly how you died, from your killer's view point or from other angles. Seeing as death is such a big deal I'd really like to savour it or else curse myself for being so stupid. -
I would LOVE companion animals (especially horses) and they have been confirmed for about this time next year :)

Hi guys, now that they are implementing vehicles and are talking about introducing penalties for running (since sprinting for 2 hours without getting a heart attack it stupid) do you think it would be a good idea to add in bicycles?. Where to find them: In all towns and farmhouses. About 2 or so in a town the size of Kamysovo, maybe 8 in Berezino. All bikes are chained to railings or trees with bike locks. You need a hacksaw, pickaxe, fireaxe, woodcutter axe, hammer and chisel or boltcutters to unlock them. Benefits of bicycle: Once it gains momentum it can travel about 1.5 times the speed of sprinting now (I think sprint speed will be reduced anyway). There are no physical penalties, you won't get tired or hurt your feet while riding. They are very easy to find. You don't need petrol or any tools to repair it. Downsides of bicycle: It can only travel at full speed on roads. It will travel a little slower on dirt roads and much slower on grass.Since you can only travel on roads you will unable to keep a low profile and will probably be ambushed. The bike provides no cover from guns.Crashing the bike will cause you to fall off and possibly be injured. You can't use a gun while on it.

Does anyone know how to fix this bug? (invisible ground & player)
Sebidee posted a topic in Troubleshooting
I'm getting this really weird bug right now. The ground is invisible and so is my character. Please see the pictures below. I have tried switching servers, restarting the game and even verifying the game cache. Still no improvement. I'm stuck. -
Does anyone know how to fix this bug? (invisible ground & player)

I think I know the cause of it since the same thing happened both times. My internet cut out so I alt tabbed to check it. When I tried to re-enter the game it froze and I had to turn off my computer. Then I get that bug for about 2 hours after. -

Well i just tried again after a couple of hours and it was fine. I doubt if it's memory or temperature. My computer never overheats and can more than handle Day z. It's back again now though which is really annoying since this is the only free night I have to play the game. I know it's in alpha and all (and I'm not going to rage because only idiots forget the alpha part) but how come all these youtubers have perfect games while I get MASSIVE game breaking bugs every 20 minutes. -

Funnily enough it just fixed itself. Weird or what? -

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Sebidee replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
After hearing about the big update I decided to play for a few hours with friends. I hadn't played for a while but my friends were already kitted out and gave me everything I needed. Despite a few bugs, like not being able to shoot or swing occasionally I was impressed with some of the stuff added. Eventually we were killed by some players but I've got used to that by now. However, when I tried playing on my own as a fresh spawn I found the zombies to be too annoying to play, for several reasons. First of all zombies are way too fast. They are actually faster than I am. I found that when running in a straight line the zombies will gain about 2 or so meters on you every second. So you can't just run away from them. When you spawn in you are almost immediately spotted by a zombie and then have to have a long chase which sounds exciting but gets old very quick. Zombie spot distance is too damn far! I would be creeping along, trying to sneak up on zombies or avoid them, then see 5 pixels half a mile away and zoom in and watch it to see if the smudge on the horizon is a zombie. Then that smudge turns around, spots me crouching in the bushes and sprints towards me. If it is too far away for me to see it then it shouldn't be able to see me! Zombies appear to follow you like bloodhounds. Somehow they can follow you even when you break line of sight and even when you cut through buildings. If you can't run from them then you should at least be able to hide or trick them. Zombies hit from too far away. This is probably a bug rather than a design decision but zombies seem to be able to hit me from a few yards away. Zombies still pop through walls. Definitely a bug and it's certainly not as bad as it was before but combined with the other problem it is very annoying. All of these reasons combined caused me to rage quit today. I spawned in and was immediately spotted by 4 zombies, I ran in the other direction and looked around to see that they were behind me. I was hit from a distance and started bleeding. I slowed them a little by jumping over fences and running around houses but I only had enough time to bandage before they were on me again. I decided to simply sprint through woods and after a minute chase with them constantly running into trees I got away. I managed to get to the coast, I saw some houses and thought that this would be a good place to get some start up supplies. I knew that there would be a zombie somewhere so I decided to crouch and creep toward the buildings. I stopped to see if a smudge about 100m away between the houses was a zombie and found out it was when it literally turned round and chased me. I spent a good 5 minutes leading the zombie around the houses. I finally caught a break and lost the zombie long enough to get inside a house. I then started to search the house only to have the zombie follow me through the village, back door, two rooms, up the stairs, down a corridor and then catch me and cause me to bleed. I somehow managed to close the door and lock the zombie inside. I then went outside to bandage only to see the same zombie come through the wall and hit me again. I was bleeding with my two t-shirt rags used - therefore, dead and rage quit. So it's obvious that that's not right. The funny thing is that when I was playing with my friends and armed with a gun the zombies were really good! They were a challenge and it was great to be chased by dozens of them and having to gun them down when they were too close. The zombies right now are perfect for when you are geared but when you are a fresh spawn they are too difficult and annoying. A quick fix would be to spawn with a random melee weapon but I think it would be better to change the way zombies work. Right now they are aggressive and seek out the player, instead they should be mostly sedentary obstacles that the player must overcome. Suggestions: First of all, the zombies should be MUCH slower. They should move at a slow jog so that if you want you can simply sprint away from them. They should have poor sight and shouldn't be able to spot you further than 25m away unless you are running, this will help you sneak past them. They should still have a good sense of hearing so that shooting is a tactical choice. Bugs gone, obviously. At the moment zombies seem to spawn randomly, instead they should spawn in large numbers at important buildings. Right now the buildings with the best loot are the police stations, hospitals, schools, fire stations and military camps. So the zombies should act like a barrier between those building and the player. Going to these buildings would be a tactical choice, brave players with take the zombies out and gain the valuable items (or die) while the more cautious players can content themselves with outlying buildings with relatively few zombies. This is also pretty realistic as people would have went to those buildings anyway in a crisis. Simply put, the player should decide whether to go to the zombies rather than having them attacking all the time. Of course there should be some zombies here and there but they should be isolated and shouldn't be a problem. I think this would be great for the game and would give it a bit more depth and choice. -
got stuck in an electro 3 story apartment building this is how i got out.

Friend fell into inescapable black hole, OP jumped in after him for the giggles. Good on ya man, -
I think there should be a difference between what we call server hopping and what we call server changing. Server hopping means switching rapidly through different servers, normally to loot the same location. Changing servers for loot should be ok if you have only recently logged in and it is obvious that the server has already been well played and there is simply no loot anywhere.

I HATE comments like this and they are rife on the forum. Why do you think you're better? I could easily say I'm better because I don't need as much gear as you but I wouldn't, you know, because I'm not mean like that. I don't go "YOLO" and run into military buildings, I'm actually more of a survivalist and try to avoid confrontation. You should try to be less presumptuous. I just find that at present in the game survival, as in things other than feeding, is just not important yet and needs to be fully implemented.

I once fell about 25 feet and I was fine. A bit stiff but nothing broken and very much alive. Then again I once fell 5 feet out of a van going 10 Mph and fractured my skull but I was only 7.

Crawl to the nearest town and get eaten by zombies. If you have a gun fire it in the air a few times.
-
I consider myself pretty much fully geared when I have an axe, a gun and a backpack half full of food and ammo, it also helps if I have found a well and am healthy. Anything extra is just fluff and gearing up fully is just a waste of time brought on by OCD.

Anyone else the same as me? I really don't like playing in the regular, 3rd person servers. I think the thing is that I have to play in a single perspective the whole time to get used to it, that's why I like hardcore because it's the same the whole way through. In a regular server you have to pop into first person when ever you get into trouble and that just disorientates the hell out of me so I may as well forget about firefights because I just get blown away. Even though I prefer first person I don't like using it in a third person server because I know that other players will have a wider field of vision and will be able to peek over and around walls. In this game you can't afford to be at any disadvantage. The only problem is that the entire community seems to play on the regular servers. Hardcore is a no-go for anyone on my friends list. So do you think hardcore servers will become more popular or will Day Z stay a third person game?

I would choose Berezino because it is less of a bandit town, it is also where I always go when I spawn. Ideally I would like to spawn randomly to stop the repetitiveness of the coast spawn, although that may cause trouble with trying to meet up with friends.

1 fact 90% of you didn't know before.

Does it matter if it's not in the game yet? -
Well, there is a pinned thread called 'zombie feedback' the thread I started on them was moved there.
-
The reason is that all the friends I play with and 90% of the community play in 3pp. I don't want to be left out. On the subject of cheat peeking. I hate doing it and I don't want to do it but in a regular server I feel like I HAVE to do it. If I don't then the enemy will and I'll be screwed.

I've been having this problem since I began playing. I can't seem to figure out which direction shooting is coming from. I can tell well enough whether it is being shot at me or not but otherwise it just sounds all the same. One second I will be sure it's coming from one direction, then I'll be certain it's coming from another way. Is there some kind of trick to this or not because other people, my friends and youtubers, seem to be able to pinpoint it. What's the secret? Ps, before you say it. In that example I gave you there was only one person and he was not moving around. My friend was able to seem him while he was shooting and told me after he took him out.

tpv?

How is 1pp more realistic than 3pp? Ok, well for starters can you see the back of your own head at all times in real life? Can you see 360 degrees around you in real life? Can you peek over a ten foot wall, or around it while face planting it? 1pp is FAR more realistic. You are lower down, you can see what your hands are doing when you eat/drink/bandage/look at a compass/reload. And when a zombie jumps at you you can see it's cold dead eyes right IN YOUR FACE!

Agreed. 1st person is just so much more immersive. To be honest I simply cannot play the game on my own in third person. It feels too much like ... a game. Great suggestion, I'll try that. I have actually found that there are far fewer KOSers and bandits in hardcore mode. Hopefully the trend of serious players moving there will continue. You mean blur out the area that your character can't see? I'm sure third person advocates would hate that but I would definitely be more comfortable. I would really prefer it if Day Z was a first person only game at this stage. The experience is far, far, far better. The only difficulty is trying to convert the community to it. PLAY HARDCORE GUYS, PLEASE!!!
