Finnaly someone on these forums that knows what he is doing lol, is that ram clock speed OC to 2133 or bought like that?
-
You dont need to show me articles' date=' I have built machines for friends that wanted to play arma 2 (before dayz was around) and 1 off them was on a budget and I made one with an APU for him when the llano series came out. He is running the game at medium on 1680x1050 with 40 fps steady. When dayz came it dropped to ~35 fps. This is a mobile version though so thats why I am saying low-medium at 30 fps. Yep this is probably the best way to find out how well it will run without buying ARMA2:CO. Just keep in mind DayZ tends to run a bit slower than ARMA2 does (at least on my PC). [/quote']
-
Yes that will run the game, these people dont lnow what. They are talking about. He has an APU wich is a proccesor with a very powerfull intergrated gpu wich can easily play arma 2 on low-medium with 30 fps
-
Yep you got screwed over hardcore there. The pre-built business is a big scam, with company's like apple and alienware (dell) being the worst. Because loads off people seem to think that computer performance are based on RAM, hdd sizes and clock speeds. These company's exploit this a lot (thats why company's like alienware say things like: 32 GB SUPER FAST GAMING RAM) and make huge profits off these people. Op, you got scammed by dell obviously, your laptop has maybe 400 dollars max worth off parts in there, dell probally paid 300 dollars to make it, and made 700 dollars profit. The thing is that you dont have a grafic card ( GPU) and thats why it performs so bad. Let this be a warning to all of you, just build your own desktop, you will save 200-2000€ depending on how expensive the parts are compared to "gaming" pre-builts. And most importantly, stay away from Dell and Apple

FR9, someone issued kill command

its hacks and a lot of other people have had the same thing -
Ugh, I am not sure if it will run at all but dont expect a playable frame rate even at very low settings. Reason: you have no gpu and an outdated laptop proccesor wich was low end when it came out.
-
Ok cool, tell me when you worked out a budget and Ill make sure to get you the best parts for the money, incase you are intrested, here is a video from newegg on how to actually build a pc: btw frank, you are so wrong, the i3 DOES NOT bottleneck new gpu's and will perform really well.
-
I am glad to see that you have changed your mind, just to react to some of the comments here: He wants a budget machine, and the i3 2120 is a very good low priced processor that wont bottleneck the new grafic cards. The i3 2120 outperforms all the AMD proccesors, and if you dont believe then go check famous sites like overclockers.net. Well Voiska that i3 build was not completly optimized yet, as it was just to give an idea of what it would cost and stuff. There are some things like motherboard-RAM compatibility and case choice. So dont buy anything yet. Post your finalized budget and Ill take a couple hours to post a complete finalized build and some guides on how to build the computer. It is not as hard as it may seem and as long as you follow the instructions and handle the components with care you will have no problem. A very important rule to remember when setting budgets: Wait for the moment when you have the most money available. So like when you sell that guitar, you might have the possibility to go up to 500 pounds budget (Just an example) And with those 100 pounds extra I might be able to squeze a cheap model of the i5 (wich has 4 cores and has even better performance. If you like speed you could also keep the i3 and add a ssd with that budget ( a ssd is a storage disk that has no moving parts and is very fast, if you put windows on a ssd you can completly boot up in a matter of seconds) So in short; post your budget, and Ill work out a good build. (Ill let it get checked by another forum wich has a lot of experts on it so Ill make sure its the cheapest and best possible)
-
Voiska, sorry for the rude comment, But just take a second to read this. By building yourself you save a lot of money and get better performance, I made a build for you to check out on partpicker so you can compare: http://pcpartpicker.com/uk/p/aeVV These parts are 40 pounds over your budget but this will perform WAY better. With the prebuilt you posted I think you will get about 10-20fps on medium, with the build I posted you will be able to play high/max at 30-40 fps. That prebuilt also comes without windows, so you would actually pay 390 pounds. Here is a 340 pound build with windows: http://pcpartpicker.com/uk/p/aeX0 Ill explain why its better then the ebay prebuilt: Proccesor performs better and has a very good on chip gpu that will nearly match a 6670. The psu is reliable (cheap prebuilts usually come with cheap psu's that can fry all your components) The HDD is at 7200 rpm wich is very important. It is cheaper (50 pounds) Things that might confuse you: The diffrence between 4gb and 8gb ram in gaming is very minimal, nearly all games use less then 4gb ram. Clock speed (ghz) does not equal performance when comparing parts, and amount of cores does not equal performance either. An i3 2120 wich has 2 cores at 3.1 ghz will completely outperform the amd fx-8150 wich has 8 cores, no matter how high you OC it. I would not recommend ordering the cheap build I posted because very soon a new generation off those so called APU's (processor) will come out wich will outperform the old gen at the same price. The more expensive build is a good choice if you manage to get some extra money, just add windows 64 bit to the list and do some extra research on what case you want and if the ram is supported by the mobo (very important)

Basically done with this game for now. Sadly, it's just a slow paced deathmatch.
Soeg replied to boogiemanfl's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Funny how you clearly dont know anything about the game' date=' the bullet-resistant vest that the character wears DOES work, its not just there for the looks. Fact is that "bullet-proof" vests are not magic barriers. [/quote'] I thought it was purely cosmetic too. When I have died to another player it's always been basically instantaneous. Usually one, but occasionally 2 shots. I didn't think all of those times were always headshots, since many of them had lighting/weather handicaps or very little aiming time possible. That's my luck though. /ginormousfacepalm Those vests are not magical barriers, they can not stop a 7.62 or even a 5.56 at point blank, they will stop pistol rounds to the chests relatively well though. -

I made an acount just to do this tutorial, because the amount of help threads is very high. A frequent problem seems to be not being able to run CO, and I see a lot of help threads where the problem is caused by not running CO correctly. In my tutorial I will include everything from setting up CO too installing and running the mod. I know there is already a stickied tutorial thread but it does not include the things that most help threads are about. I will explain for both retail and steam, and mixes of that, (like OA retail, arma 2 steam) BOTH GAMES FROM STEAM: The advantage here is that your games will be at the latest version automaticly. The easiest way is this: Go to your arma 2 folder under steamapps, copy the addons folder inside (if you are not sure if you have the right one, check inside and it should show files like A-10.pbo etc) and paste it inside your arma OA folder MAKE SURE THAT YOU PASTE IT IN AN EMPTY SPOT INSIDE THE OA FOLDER. Now start up your arma 2OA. If steam asks you if you want to run CO, select run OA only. When you are at the main menu, go to expansions, it should now have an Arma 2 option if you pasted the addons folder correctly. Enable Arma 2 and restart your game. Check if Arma 2 is enabled under expansions now. If it is, good job! You now have a permament CO, if steam asks if you want to run CO or just arma 2 OA, always click just OA. RETAIL: Update both games to the latest version using the official site. (for arma 2 you need to download 1.09 first and install it, because version 1.11 does not support version 1.00) When succesfully updated follow the steam guide above (its the same thing, just copy the addons folder and paste it into OA, then start the game up and enable it) MIXED COPY'S (example, arma 2 steam and retail OA) The same as steam guide and retail, just dont update the one you have from steam as it will just auto-update. INSTALLING THE ADDONS FOR DAYZ: If you followed the previous steps you are now ready to instal the addons. Make a folder called @dayz and make an addons folder inside. (the folders should be made in the OA folder) download all the dayz files and extract them into the addons folder inside the @dayz using winrar. You can now either create a seperate shortcut for dayz or you can do it my way. For the seperate shortcut go to the installation thread. ALTERNATIVE: Start up OA go to expansions, make sure arma 2 is enabled and then enable dayz. If you plan on only playing this or if you are lazy then this will be the best option. Feel free to ask questions and tell me if I forgot something or when something is unclear. I putt a lot off effort in this. Hope it helps STILL NOT WORKING? Battleye might not have installed propperly if you have steam. Right click on OA trough the steam menu and press reinstall battleye

Bulletproof vests/flak jackets and helmets.
Soeg replied to Asuka Langley Soryu's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yep this is why it can take take so many makarov mags to kill someone if you hit them in the chest, and because zombies use civilian skins thy are more vunurable, a civ skin can only take like 1-3 mak rounds to the chest at 15 meters, while a armored skin can take 1-3 mags depending on how you hit them, lungs etc being way more vunurable -
Bulletproof vests/flak jackets and helmets.
Soeg replied to Asuka Langley Soryu's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Well just to ruin your COD/bf3 dreams, arma allready simulates bullet-proof vests, what else do you think your pmc is wearing? So this suggestion is yet again an example of how people dont think before they post. -
Banned from Eu8 for russian language
Soeg replied to OldFox (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Yes, this is just ridicouless, if someone feels more comfortable speaking his own langue, then let them be. I just get mad when I see comments saying things like: Everyone should speak english, because I never took the time to learn/respect other langue's. Everyone that I cant understand needs to be banned because (insert stereotype). People dont get banned for speaking english in german, french, dutch, etc, servers, but that does not mean that english is the only langue allowed there. And an other thing, the "russians are dirty dming asshats" stereotype. Imagine that you are a russian. You dont understand what all those people are talking about. Then suddenly you see a surviver, you see some strange letters saying friendly on side chat. You have no way to communicate and you shoot the guy, because what other choice do you have, there is no way to know his intentions because you dont speak his langue. This was just an example, and I dont mean to say that russians dont speak english, I have encounterd a lot of friendly russians that speak english, most of them know enough to communicate with others. But in a life treatning situation the langue barier can be to big sometimes, and attempts to communicate can be misunderstood. So imagine you are this russian again, you discover that there is an other russian on the server, offcourse you talk to him, because in your own langue you feel comfortable. Then suddenly you get banned, wouldnt you be frustrated? Do the other players expect you to not talk at all, dont they want you to have fun with people that understand you? Why get mad at people speaking another langue, they are just people like you, wanting to communicate with friends in the langue they feel comfortable with. You dont walk up to foreigners irl to get mad at them and demand they speak your langue right? Long story short, dont be a racist, respect other people. -

My suggestion for bandit "problem"/ griefers
Soeg replied to nameloC's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This is arma, dont you fucking noobs come in here and CODinize the game. This game is a milsim and the fact is that getting shot once can be deadly if placed well. And please stop these "I saw people working togheter on youtubz and now that I bought the game everybody is powning meeee, lets make this a no-pvp game yeah!" threads -
Ah I have expierenced that with my old rig before OA was released bat, I always solved it by turning my texture detail up, and then down to my old setting.
-
What are you talking about? Look in the technical forum. Most of them have Intel & Nvidia' date=' as do I. Not that that matters, the issue is the visibility distance that was increased with the patch. [/quote'] Complete bs, nearly everyone in that thread has either an amd proccesor and/or amd gpu. The ones that dont have either sli or a dual gpu like the 590 gtx or 690 gtx. So I guess that dual gpu's are just as bad for arma as sli and crossfire is. Rocket probally made a mistake while fixing the fog. Also: arma 2 isnt using gpu's to the max for some reason, its only using around 20-40% instead of 70-99%, some guy posted msi afterburner pics showing it, and others said that they have the same problem.
-
Rocket for what I have seen: Nearly all off the players that have problems are using amd proccesors and/or amd gpu's.

Arma 2 Combined Operations Won't Launch
Soeg replied to donkeykong's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Sir, do you own arma 2? You cant run CO if you dont have them both lol. Make sure to launch arma 2 once before you try to launch as CO
