looks like i am the only one not excited about this imo, a pistol is pointless unless used as a backup weapon for mosin snipers they should work on more primary weapons first! like akm, fn fal, g3, m249, m16, g36, uzi, bizon

post-patch: worse performance in cities, better performance in the countryside ?

anyone else have this weird "issue"? i have incredibly worse performance in cities (tested cherno and chapevsk) but better performance in the countryside after the patch. playing stable btw -
female zombies: + faster and more agile + deals much more damage after running up and jump-attacking (potential to make player uncouncious) - not very well damage-resistant, dies quickly after taking damage - louder, can be heard easily (high-pitched screeching) male zombies: + stronger attack than female + fairly damage-resistant + silent, not very audible - notices humans only if very close - slow soldier zombies: + strongest attack (potential to kill player with one hit) + very damage resistant, can take lots of punishment + can sense humans from very far away - pretty noisy - slow (but not slower than generic males) more zombie variants (as long as they aren't too over-the-top) always welcome...

agreed! we definitely need more clothes, both civilian and military there should be different camo patterns and various colors as well. this one should be a good start: -
dayz gotta be my only game where one HAS to use a mic to communicate. because typing everything is so time-consuming, by that time someone might have handcuffed/shot me already

to make it even more interesting, people would need to find an (extremely rare) Geiger counter device in order to be able to enter the nuclear area anyway. the problem is if they dont get back from the area in time they'd die anyway. people without a Geiger die in a matter of seconds note: i am aware a Geiger does not protect from radiation. but this could make things more interesting. just like in (one of the dayz) mod(s) where there was a device available against those electro-magnetic storms and you survived when you had one with you

gotta agree. i've played dayz for 2 weeks and already lost interest (never played the mod or any other zombie shooter). right now, it's just "gear up and go to deathmatch", kinda boring but sorry that's how it is. watching vids about the mod actually makes me sad, there are more guns, vehicles, gear, base building, etc. just much more stuff to do. meanwhile a patch for standalone takes +2 weeks to add cooking....whopdeedoo! if this wasn't reality, people could consider this to be a joke really honestly, if standalone hasn't at least all the stuff the mod offers in half a year, i don't have much hope anymore. don't be surprised when you see the headline "hall sold dayz to bigger studio xyz, leaves bohemia as of now" soon. with the slow and faulty progress on things, i'd say standalone has started to grow into something a little indie studio around dean can't properly handle anymore that's only my view on things. of course i'll be attacked by forumers in a second with "omg it's alpha!" "you shouldn't have bought it then" and "gtfo spoilt brag omg" -

using a pistol is only really valuable when you find yourself in closequarters and have a primary weapon that's unsuitable for that kind of short engagement range -- like longrange weapons with low firerate (mosin, sks) or with limited ammo capacity (b95) i think that's the point of a sidearm/pistol. they should neither be "primaries" nor should they beat them concerning combat performance. a sidearm is just really something to complement your primary rifle with. once you have the m4a1, you're right, there's no point using a pistol really. and that's perfectly fine in my eyes

not sure about this. it will probably just frustrate a lot of (new) players. and that's something dayz can't afford at its early stage of development remember, you start off hungry and thirsty, and need to find something to eat/drink fast. right now, people can orientate themselves by the coast and train tracks. walking along those allows them to reach the towns fairly quickly to get cloths and food also keep in mind someone spawning up north will be able to gear up with helmet, tac-vest and m4a1 in no time. not really balanced imo. because heading north to get the best gear is dayz's lategame right now - as you already said "easy access to all late game goddies", and that would be ruined by allowing people to spawn in the north randomly

i'd love to defend myself from wolves and bears. but to be honest, i wouldn't like to shoot these cute fluffy bears, even if they try to eat me :(

wait a sec, hold it... is the OP mad that the devs put one item (ak74) on hold while they develop two other weapons (akm, dragunov) instead am i missing something here? i dont understand this

we still need more spraycan colors though. black and green aren't enough! i suggest yellow, orange, red, gray, pink, purple, blue, cyan, silver (specular map), gold (specular map), brown, beige of course, these variants should be VERY hard to find (especially gold/silver). like having a red or gray helmet/weapon would definitely mean that player went through a lot to have them

not his fault. he thought dayz is a supercasual zombie shooter. but he thought wrong. this isn't left4dead, man. invest some time to find food and gear in houses/cities. don't just run off to the forest. that's where you die when you don't have supplies with you. hope this helps -
having multiple chars makes you automatically less vigilant. you'll play less serious and less careful because you can have just another geared char as backup. this is an insurance you don't have in reallife, as you only have one life. dayz shouldn't deviate from that. as much as i like separate chars for solo and group play (because i like playing with friends as much as i like playing solo), i highly oppose this idea

Global objectives that would give a purpose in surviving

solid idea. we definitely need something regarding the "endgame" to create some longterm motivation. for many people it's just gearing up and going for a deathmatch right now. global objectives would encourage coorperation (or competition) among players to work towards a common goal, instead of simply finding loot and go hunting for bambis/bandits as it is currently
