    Technicals!

Agreed. I think there are enough limitations mentioned that technicals would not become a dime a dozen, but if you were to see one, engage one, etc - it would be something to remember.

    Winchester or Lee Enfield? [POLL]

Winchester, only if the ammo was just as easy to find as the Lee, or close to it.
  3. A lot of people here have never heard of Arma or Operation Flashpoint before DayZ rose to fame. Myself, I heard about it once or twice if memory serves. I believe that is where a lot of frustration lies, because people are unaware of the heavy scripting and modding that Arma enables. They hear about a great zombie game, buy it, and fall in love. Then, as they play it more, the hackers come in and shit on everything. It's immensely frustrating, because the potential for a great game seems right at our fingertips. I hope the standalone version knocks our socks off, and gets here soon – otherwise as Columbus said: “You are like a giant cock-blocking robot, like, developed in a secret fucking government lab.” I don't think statements like “It's Alpha, deal with it” help either, considering the audience. That's not going to help with people who have never tried a mod before, especially one from such an obscure game (no offense BI). DayZ is unique, something that has grown out of virtually nothing, based on word of mouth. It's great, we all love it or we would not be here. Don't cheapen it by going nerdcore. Embrace it for what it is, and hope for the best in regards to the standalone. Thank you, Rocket. Despite all the frustrations we may have, we love what you have created for all of us.
  4. Hello, In for my daily hacker report. US 1251 Mass teleport and groupdeath, 0030 Central time. V/R, Flawed

    DayZ so F***ing Hacked I can't play.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2.4

    You tease!
  7. Kitta is right. Hacking is the state of the game right now. I only plan for short bursts alive, so I stick to Cherno and Elektro. Until they get serious about hacking, there is nothing we can do. I honestly think they can't do anything about the hacking as Arma II is so heavily script dependent.
  8. Title says it all. US 412 Hacker teleporting all to one location and then killing them
  9. Damn. We (my daughter and I) spent many hours online today, ran all the way up to NW Airfield, looted great gear, and come back down south to hook up with friends. So shitty to waste all that time, just for this to happen. Not the first time either, but there is no way I am going to spend that amount of time on the game again. Told the kid that we just stick to Cherno and Elektro from now on and that's it. If we die, we die. I we get hacked, we get hacked I know it's an alpha and all, but just getting tired of the constant hacking.

    Technicals!

Yeah this could really open up some dynamic battles in the larger areas. Would really add to the scope of the game.

    Hordes?

Mass Hordes everywhere! Game is too easy in its current state. *Runs into building, spams M1911, combines ammo, rinse and repeat*

    Skills make TeamWork

I reported my own thread - didn't like the direction it was going. Best of luck to you Ukie, you are going to need it on these forums.
  13. Excellent suggestions, OP. Please have my babies, err beans.
  14. Going to get straight to the point here. For each 100 zombies you kill, you get to choose a perk. If you murder another player, it resets your count (or blocks survivor perks altogether.) (Don't freak out – murder perks at bottom) The reasoning behind the reset is to avoid confrontation if possible, in order to try and work out differences via chat/voice. If working towards a perk or endgame, your character's life should mean more, and you would try to talk your way out of a situation, or team up. This should help mitigate antisocial effects that are present in the current state of DayZ, which is pretty close to a deathmatch between players. However, if people want to be bandits, they still can. (More on that later.) Sample survivor perks (Some perks cost more, based on tier – tier 1 is 100 kills, tier 2 is 150/200 kills) Undead Slayer (Tier 1) +20% damage to zombies Rugged (Tier 1) +400 Blood (Can be upgraded to a cap) Bowyer (Tier 1) Able to craft bows (With hatchet and survival knife) Gunsmith (Tier 2) Able to craft guns (Need toolbox and scrap metal) Footpad (Tier 2) -1 to Audibility/Visibility to Zombies while running/crouched Can adds tons, these are just examples. Bandits should get perks as well. However, as the bandit gets more powerful, they may reconsider risky behavior that may put them at unnecessary risk. Per 20-50? player kills, bandits can choose perks such as: Heathen (Tier 1) +400 Blood (Can be upgraded to a cap) Assassin (Tier 1) +20% damage to humans etc - tons can be added Bandit kills should give the best perks as they are rare in this state of the game, but more importantly to encourage a form of justice and law enforcement amongst players. Maybe something like per 2-5 bandit kills = perk, which can be refined as feedback/stats are gathered. Of course, all numbers can be adjusted. I'm just looking for a mechanic to encourage cooperation between players, and spice things up for those Bandits that truly want to stand out.
  15. Bandits already slaughter everyone they see. I get killed more often from Bandits than I do by zombies, and these are on characters that last several days, with many zombies killed. I don't know what else to suggest, because if you don't give bandits something while giving something to survivors, the bandit side of the community will cry foul. As it stands now, I try to communicate with others in the game, but nine times out of ten, I end up shooting them dead, or I respawn due to them killing me. To me, that just screams deathmatch.
  16. As I said in the original post - by getting a perk, the bandit may value his life more than he did before (longevity vs simple deathmatch respawn) He may reconsider shooting the pair of survivors he sees, because in case he misses one, hey may get shot on the return and lose that character that he values more than before. The ideas I had for perks were just quick examples, of course they can be changed. Some of the ones that have been suggested in this thread are far better than mine.
  17. I don't want classes or levels, I just want a mechanic that will try to encourage cooperation. If your character lasts long enough, should he not learn something in return? No offense, but I don't think I miss the point of this game. On the contrary, I'm trying to improve upon it - unless you mean the point of the game is to be like Quake or Unreal Tournament?

    Technicals!

I think enough mitigating factors have been mentioned in this thread to make it balanced.

    a10 vs huey

It's almost as if the hackers have turned to creating scripted events for others to see. Many people have called for scripted events like these (convoys, npc camps, etc), would be neat to see them in final.

    My last death

No its all good man, just saying competition is good for all involved.
  21. I've seen Dev Team members publicly state on streams that if you come across hacked gear (i.e. from another body) than you are fine. It's running the scripts that will get you in trouble. Can probably find a post from a dev member here confiming this.

    My last death

I hear ya man, things are starting to get stale. It's been a bit since we've seen a big patch, and the hackers are getting really old. At least with War Z on the horizon now, the competition will force these guys into overdrive.

    Technicals!

Agreed. The added weight of the gun should impact the vehicle's speed and maneuverability. If they would allow such firepower to be brought into the game, it has to have drawbacks. Also, since the guns are going to be big, so to will be their bang. Should attract enough zombie attention that would force the operators to kill the zombies or to keep on trucking. That way they would not be the all powerful survivor killer. However, the immersion and added value to the game that these would add would be awesome!
  24. Flawed

    Technicals!

Yep, thinking ammo would have to be fed like any other weapon. Possibly allowing most vehicles that have a bed to allow mounting larger weapons.
