    Did anyone lose a mosin...

Contrary to popular belief... I remember the spray patterns that I did when I see them... that, is in fact my mosin, and I'll happily take it back.
  2. Folks, again you need to take a chill pill. If you've been around gaming forums where the Devs of the game are active members of the forums, you'll know that they'll rarely attempt to communicate with their player base if they have a deadline that needs to be met. Unless something goes horribly wrong, you can expect the patch to come out today. EDIT: Brian Hicks ‏@Hicks_206 38sTaking down experimental servers in a moment for update 0.42

    Identifying Players

Now remember, the problem with this is that many people are in clans. If someone is removed from the clan because of bad conduct, or they leave because of whatever reason, they would be unable to change their names without having to buy a new installation of DayZ or mucking about in their character files. This would also make it extremely easy for people to find famous streamers and kill them over-and-over again because the streamers would be unable to change their names. I would be alright with the ability to change your in-game name at least once a month, or once every three months. I'm unsure of how they would go about doing that.

Well, the good thing is... it's all speculation until we get an official developer post.

    Identifying Players

I've read his post, and I've re-read it plenty of times. You didn't burn him, in fact, all you did was copy a link that someone else had provided to this discussion. You probably didn't even know that the thread even existed because you didn't hunt down the information yourself. This shows me that you're too lazy to attempt to back up your own argument (rather flaming because it seems that's all you know how to do.) It also shows me that you're attempting to smear a "Hah. I'm right, you're wrong." attitude on another player. When in fact, you're wrong. So... I think you need to re-read his post and understand the fact that he's actually saying "The developers will not add a feature like this into the game because this is not the kind of game that helps players play it." Just because someone else has found a thread that another player posted with an idea for creating a rudimentary identification system does not, and will never, be considered a burn. Had you (or someone else) provided developer proof or a topic in which a developer stated "We're thinking about something" then by all means smear it in other peoples faces.

Just because someone has a likable idea doesn't mean that it's going to be added into the game. So your sarcastic 'ointment' comment is completely unnecessary, as it isn't a burn at all. 'Cause the feature doesn't even exist... and probably never will.
  7. I've been on plenty gaming forums, been in plenty of gaming communities, and have been a developer myself. When a developer posts a very... very vague tweet and/or post on the forums about the game not being updated, 95% of the time they ran into an unexpected problem and are currently troubleshooting it. So rather than getting panties in a knot about not being able to play the new update and raging all over the forums, take a chill pill, relax, and go do something else. Honestly, it's better to be safe and not receive a new patch than to receive a new patch and have an unplayable game until the developers can hot-fix it. So from the sounds of it, they've learned from their last patch mishap and want to ensure that it doesn't happen again.

    smells odors sugsmells gestion

I actually don't think it would be hard to implement at all really. It would simply be a modified version of the rain system that we currently have in the experimental build. Rather than getting damp or having a wet effect added to your character, you simply have either a text or visual indicator that shows the direction that the smell is coming from, or both.

    smells odors sugsmells gestion

It's an interesting suggestion to say the least. It'd be helpful to have another sense added into the game, and surely wouldn't hurt the immersion at all. I can think of multiple possibilities of running through one of the dense forests and not paying attention to my surroundings during the day, and seeing a status message pop up saying something along the lines of "I smell something burning." Could be a little interesting mini-game where the indications get stronger the closer you get to the source, or further away you get from the source. "I smell something burning." "The (smell) is stronger in this direction." "The (smell) is weaker in this direction."

Trading Area - To reduce shoot on sight mentality

If you want a safe zone. You create and enforce it. Simple as that... (already been said plenty of times here.)

Met four human players so far!

Out of all of the player interactions I've had, most of them had been with friendly players where we've traded equipment and survival necessities before going off on our separate ways, or joining together for a brief time to head towards a specific area. Though my favorite interaction was after an intense gunfight. I had just murdered my first player after he killed two of my friends while we were scavenging the North West Airfield for supplies. The bandit had made the mistake of not checking to see if I was still alive or not and had climbed down the ladder to begin looting the bodies, at which point I came out of cover while his back was to me and proceeded to empty fifteen rounds of my .45, six rounds of my Magnum, ten rounds of my SKS, and then to ensure that he was dead, axe'd him in the back. Needless to say, most of his gear was ruined - except for the M4 the bandit was carrying, so I picked that up. The entire time I had heard someone talking nearby, thinking it was my friend who was still unconscious, so I went back to his body and began speaking to him, when I asked if he was dead or not the person replied back with a "Uh, no... I'm alive." I asked if he was unconscious, and he replied that he wasn't. Which instantly lead me to realize that someone else was in the area. This person shortly after asked if I was alright, and if I was involved in that gunfight that happened, of course I was, though low on blood. I asked if he was friendly, and he asked me the same question, we both said yes and I proceeded cautiously over to his position warning him on a consistent basis that I was coming closer, crouched and unarmed. We were both still nerved about the gunfight that had happened and I informed him that two of my friends were murdered during it, that was when he informed me that his own buddy had been killed in the gunfight. After getting patched up and trading around supplies we both were going to part ways when he said hesitantly that he was going to go down towards the coast to get his friend - the direction I too, was now heading. It was that moment that I had made a friend through the hardships of a gunfight. TL;DR - Just because you meet KoSing players or bandits that like to torture you regardless of whether you're geared or not, the good experiences and meeting people still outweigh the negative ones. You just gotta attempt to talk to people, it may take five to ten tries before you find someone whose genuinely a good person.
  12. Another decent question to ask yourself - How often would you be looking for graffiti? A spray can, can only go so far before it's empty, and I doubt many people would decide to carry an inventory full of them just to paint dicks or racist slurs all over the place. But alas, I agree with Nesuma on this actually. The positive aspects such as warning signs, or hobo markings outweigh the negative ones.
