I think not having bugged sounds is a bigger priority. A lot of times me and my mates stand right next to each other and only some of us hear the shot,. They need to work a lot on the consistency of the sound engine. Also I think ur underestimating the difficulties of introducing a bigger sound radius, however I do agree with you that gunshots should be heard further away if it's possible to implement.
-
Don't really see the point of it to be honest. Would take time to implement and the benefits wouldnt really be that cool imo.
-
I actually thinks it's fine since they have increased the respawn timer of zombies from instant to 3-120 seconds to compensate for this they take longer to kill. I think it's alright.
-
Yeah maybe stop logging out inside buildings on the airfield and u should be fine.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
bastardo replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
So I know they buffed the zombies so it takes like 5-6 hits with a fireaxe(2-3 headshots) but do they still respawn with aggro? What's the situation like right now? -
I don't get this the respawning zombies with aggro as they are now is a total nightmare for people who like squadplay. They ruin squadfights and now you want to make them hs only? Countless times I've had my leg broken in a squadfight only to die to a zombie hitting me because I kept taking them out but they kept respawning with aggro. How am I supposed to headshot a zombie while lying down with a broken leg? This shouldn't be a PVE game imo, its focus should be PVP with strong PVE elements, I know loads of people will disagree with me on this however.

How to: Display FPS, cpu/gpu/mem usage or temperatures in-game.
bastardo posted a topic in General Discussion
This is a guide to showing info like fps, cpu/gpu/memory usage, temperatures and other stuff you might find useful in-game. Example of final result, running around in elektro, you can customize what it shows: If all you want to do is display fps, you only need to do steps 1-5 and you can skip step 2. Since there is no way to show this info in game you need some third party software. I use afterburner and hwinfo, I think precision X has a similiar functionality as afterburner. 1. Download and install MSI afterburner here: http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm 2. Download and install hwinfo here http://www.hwinfo.com/download.php (Only needed if you actually want display info like cpu/ram usage, additional temperatures and other nifty stuff) 3. Open MSI afterburner, click settings 4. Press monitoring tab and under "active monitoring graphs" press whatever you want to display in game(for example framerate(fps) and gpu usage) and scroll down and select "show on screen display" and press OK. Minimize(don't close) afterburner. 5. You can bind a key to toggle the display if you want. Go to "On screen display" tab and bind a suitable key.If you only want to display FPS then you can stop here. 6. Run Hwinfo and press "Run" once you get into the program 7. Your screen should now look something like this, press "Monitoring" then "Sensor status" 8. Press "configure sensors" 9. Select OSD(RTSS) tab select whatever value you want to display in-game, for example CPU usage, core # usage, cpu temperatures etc. Then select "show value in OSD" and "Show label in OSD". 10. If you are going to have several values displayed in-game from HWinfo then you can change the line and column for every value so they don't all end up on the same line, like this 11. Always remember to run afterburner before you run hwinfo because it is afterburner that contains the software that shows your computer info in-game. Having these things activated might be useful if you want to optimize performance and see what is your bottleneck. For example some settings affect your CPU on low settings whereas they are almost entirely run by GPU on high settings and don't impact your CPU at all. This means that if your CPU is bottlenecking but your GPU is not having a setting like this at high instead of low would surprisingly provide aperformance boost. However since it's an alpha this game is very poorly optimized with very low CPU/GPU usage even when your fps is struggling(as seen in screenshot) . Once the game is optimized and finally released these tools might become more useful. -
Tie Bandanas around arms for easy team spotting

Love it, we need ways to identify squad members that doesn't involve running around pantsless. -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
bastardo replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
They completely ruin squadfights sometimes. When you're just running around looting they are a non issue if you have a fireaxe but yeah, I don't like that they constantly respawn with aggro in firefights. I like the idea of respawning zombies but not the idea of respawning zombies with aggro. -
How to: Display FPS, cpu/gpu/mem usage or temperatures in-game.
bastardo replied to bastardo's topic in General Discussion
Yeah i know what you mean sometimes my fps hovers around 20 in big cities but i still only get 20-30% gpu and 50% cpu usage. I actually get higher gpu usage in the menus than I do in game in elektro which I find kinda funny(although I don't run max settings in-game) -
What do you consider "optimized" performance?
bastardo replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
The game is fully optimized when it is able to fully utilize my cpu and gpu. Right now I got an i5-750(5 years old) and a gtx 670 and my FPS hovers around 20-40 in some of the big cities but I only have 50% cpu usage and 17-30% GPU Usage, I would at least one of those numbers to be 80%+ when I'm at low fps. That's optimized to me. -
Well, ran into my first hacker tonight. So obvious too.

Do us all a favor and leave some room for the legitimate hacking complaints with evidence. -
My thoughts on latest experimental build
bastardo replied to nexventor's topic in General Discussion
I didn't notice any difference performance wise when it came to the 100 player servers although i did only play for like half an hour. However a friend who played longer had pretty frequent crashes which he didn't on the stable branch. -

bastardo replied to bastardo's topic in General Discussion
No you kinda messed it up but thanks for the feedback I have fixed it now so it should be alright. Didn't know that, will update once beta version goes live. -
I'm talking about the settings: GPU_DetectedFramesAhead and GPU_MaxFramesAhead Everyone tells you to change these settings to 1 yet no one actually seems to know what they do, so what do they exactly? I dislike changing settings I don't understand.

How to: Display FPS, cpu/gpu/mem usage or temperatures in-game.
bastardo replied to bastardo's topic in General Discussion
No, not really, it was just used as an example. Most people will only use the display fps function. The other stuff is only useful if you want to find your bottleneck in the game and maximize performance and tinker with your graphics options a lot. For example, when it comes to shadow quality, if you keep it at normal it is run by your cpu but if you turn it to high/very high it doesn't affect cpu usage at all it is entirely run by GPU so if the CPU is your bottleneck(high cpu usage %) you would get more fps from having high shadow quality than if you kept it at normal. -
Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251
bastardo replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
I wished they couldve just rolled back game to the previous version until they hotfixed it. -
Yeah had constant zombie sounds all day yesterday pretty much. Once you meet a zombie you can still hear them for the rest of the session.
-
It's funny how all of these supposed hacks are very consistent with bad desync. I don't deny there are hackers there are clearly hacks such as aimbots and esp that go undetected by battleye but I think there's not a lot of people using them yet.

Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251
bastardo replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
Happens for me on softcore as well. I periodically have big problems picking up items, using them, rearring inventory, sometimes it works fine but a lot of times the lag is crazy. Also have problems opening doors because of lag, no door icon shows up sometimes and sometimes you just cant open them because of lag. Very reliable server(I used to play on the hardcore equivalent) and I haven't had any lagging problems in dayZ so far except for in new patch. -
Would be cool for later when server capacity is increased. With too many hotspots for only 40 people you would not get a lot of interaction between players.
-
Yeah this should be a high priority imo, I'm tired of the whole server restart every x hours and server hopping going on.
-
They also had like 20x the $$$ of the dayz dev team.
-
But why would I hunt for food when I can just go to Pustoshka, grab 3 bags of rice and some powdered milk that will keep me well fed for the next 25 hours of gameplay ?

Find a flaw in my logic, because this seems too simple.

Cause I want to join my clans server.
