Oddly though while they are "living" do they die from starvation like the rest of us?
-
In fact that is exactly what a bow style weapon is. Unless you are really really fast you don't get two shots with a bow or cross bow. Now I am thinking more about hunting in this comment as I have never fired a bow at a person and pray never will. With a deer you get one shot. If you miss with your first bolt or arrow they run and you will be lucky or a master to get another one off before they are out of range. It should require more skill to hit the "mark" with a one shot kill over a gun. An arrow is a far harder tool to use but should still be capable of a one shot kill.

A big hole in someones heart is a big hole. I could make it with a spoon and it would be just as deadly. if you are bleeding to death it matters little what made the wound.

How is talking to you going to convince him to do anything? How good a friend is this if the first thing you do is degrade him with name calling? Maybe this isn't for him in the end.

Is there just one girl on this forum or in this game ?

You notice how no one actually likes cartman... not even cartman? -

Dean can talk all day and it matters not. He does not even play this game I am guessing. He is an idea guy and nothing more in my eyes. I didn't even know he existed before this game came out as I did not follow him. I don't see what the term anti game and perversion have to do with each other. I think what he was saying is that he sees this as a simulation and not a "game" first. -

Dayz is not perverse nor is it not perverse, it is an environment with a small rule set. The perversion comes from those who play it if they choose to act that way. Maybe she could play as a white knight and go execute those perverse souls she doesn't like. -
Have you ever been so attached to something in DayZ it drives you batty to play your character?
IamDinner replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Now, normally on Hardcore, like I mentioned in a post I made a while back, I partake in organized PVP matches with my team against other teams. We'll all head to Grishino, Devil's Castle, Myshkino or any other deserted area and put each team at the opposite end of whatever town or area we decide to do battle in. It's a lot like playing paintball, it's fun, and we're not affecting anyone else with our silliness. Unfortunately my team has disbanded as three of our five teammates have quit due to boredom, a fried video card and studying for exams (or something). So naturally, I've gone back to normal/casual DayZ play on my Hardcore character and have basically lost all interest in Regular mode. I hadn't been able to do this in a couple of months as it was always important to have my Hardcore character geared up and ready for the matches we were playing. Anyway, here's my problem: I kind of look like a bandit. That's cool, whatever. I've been trying to interact with people, but they see me and either fire at me or run away. Whatever, change your clothes, right? But I can't! My character has been alive since January or thereabouts, and still has the super awesome Ballistic Helmet/Gas Mask combination going on. I even had several people camped outside of a jail in NWAF that I was pinned down in who were peeking in at me telling me they were going to kill me solely for the reason they knew I was alive for so long. Unfortunately for them, I am still alive and they aren't. "Now Rick, aren't you being a little bit of a pussy?" you may ask. And to that I agree wholeheartedly. I've told countless people before to not get attached to their gear. Anything you lose, you can generally get back in an hour or two. I know I shouldn't become attached to my gear but I am. Oh well, I guess I'll have to keep trying and just deal with the fact that I incite fear and mistrust in those around me until I find a bullet in the back of my head since I can't bring myself to remove it. TL;DR: Has a certain item in your possession driven you to a state of paranoia such that you don't want to play your character? To me this game is not about gear or even the character. To me it is about interactions, experience, and actions. Normally I love gear, but in Dayz I don't even think about it past surviving another hour. I almost never carry lots of stuff. Food for a little while maybe liquid and an axe. I carry bandages and maybe a gun. I often try to play without a gun and see how long I can last with nothing but an axe or another such weapon. Sometimes I pick a goal that is absurd and just try to see how close I can get. -
so you think that an average person could read a manual and then fly a helicopter and not die in 5 minutes? if this is a simulation that would really ruin what tiny amount of realism this game has. If that is no longer what this game is considered then I would say introduce something like this is ok. I would prefer as little of this stuff as is possible. Respectfully I do see where you are coming from and partially agree, but in the end I think it would just end up turning this into everything else that is already on the market. I would love to see a very unique system that could include "skills" just not simply from finding a book and the skill appearing in a list. I see potential in your suggestions if it is well thought out and toned to actually work for survival and not build just another character buildng rpg/mmo. It can have some of those elements but the more you put in the more it is more of the same. I like this game even in its current state because it is not really like those games to me atm.

Do you have yours out that whole time or do you put it away as well?
-
This would just turn this game into all the MMO's on teh market which are NOT survival games. I can already play tons of these. I want something that is more subtle personally.

It seems that identifying people sort of defeats one of the aspects of the game and that is suspense. If you know who you are approaching and what they are about there goes any chance of tension you already know what you will do the second you see them. I don't want to know who I am approaching. I want each encounter with a stranger to be a variable. I don't want to know the outcome from an icon or an image or identifing mark.

are your video drivers up to date?

I don't follow anything. I use the world around me and the actions taken by the people I see, hear about and interact with to make my own determinations about how I feel over things. I "feel" that morality is subjective and can lay out some pretty good argument along those lines. That is for a different forum and discussion though I think. No one is asking you to agree with my opinions. I am not sure who this Harris is you mentioned? I feel like you are trying to invalidate my thoughts and opinions here in the same way you talk about in your response. I will never push anything on you. The only real creed I live by is live and let live. If you don't step on me I will go out of my way to make sure I don't step on you and even help you if I can with whatever I am capable of and you may need or want. I agree completely with your take on most christians as well. Some are really great people who simply live in a way they would like you too and let their life be their message. Could use more of those ones. EDIT: I reread what you posted. I agree with a large portion but be careful you are not mistaking ethics for what christians do to others over their moral code. Ethics allow for logic to help make decisions with available data based on the needs of the many (this is my view on it not some text book definition) and take into account human emotion but in a lesser way that most moral issues seem to. It is logical and ethical for a woman to have an abortion to save her own life if that is the only way it can be. Many groups at least in the US would rather see her and maybe her baby die than commit that act. They are moral according to their own views. They are also unethical based on what I see as the logic that if she lives she can try and have another child. If she dies and the child lives it would be without its protection until it was mature enough to protect itself, from a purely scientific outlook. Morality doesn't care about logic. Sometimes it seems to but in reality it is hard to change morality when logic dictates another action would bring a larger advantage. Again these are just opinions. I can prove nothing and could care less if I could. I just like discussions that are not just piles of insults and I thank you for providing real thoughts not just internet tough guy stuff. It makes it worth participating in.

Not sure if you meant to be insulting but your pretty certain that your views are the correct views and those of us who have a differing view must just be ignorant sods. Morality is subjective. I
