Bandits, Bandits, Bandits; everyone gets a Bandit!
Smartsham replied to pacific_coast's topic in General Discussion
Funny how the first comment on your thread points to whats happening now, that "It only got worse." -
Reliably hitting a target at 500m out with iron sights is actually very easy. I have done it with two variations of the m16 and numerous other rifles. It doesn't take that much training at all.

I did an experiment today trying to sabotage gear that i found that I didn't need or want. First, a hunting backpack, it started out "damaged" 5 hits with firefighter axe, no effect. I shot about 20 rounds from an M4, no effect. There were no other ways to attack the object besides melee/gunfire. I repeated this process with an SKS, a can of, BEANS, and a few other clothing/survival/ammunition items and found there is no way to compromise gear through direct attack if its just laying there (other than firing off rounds or consuming food/water). We all know gear is ruined when it is on a player and you blow them away with a cloud of bullets, so why can't items be destroyed/denied to others when its just laying there? A sapper/sabotage option would be nice to combat some of the weapon and gear overpopulation. It would also have a nice effect on servers geared more to survival and fun where teams of players could control the amount of weapons/ammunition the server contains. This could also be done through server loot options by an admin as a feature, but i think the act of doing it as a player makes it much more fun, and realistic. This would be of course when the gear is still adrift and available, or in your inventory. Don't leave your opposition the ability to kill you. Anyone else have thoughts or suggestions on this?

290 seconds is 4.8 mins, what do you do with your timer?
Smartsham posted a topic in General Discussion
I personally go and get a can of beans and try to open it with my axe, then i measure exactly how much i spilled. So far the best i got was 25% left IRL. Back yard smells funny tho. -
Great video. I would like to point out how much harder (and more fun) it is to play hardcore! It is much easier to get away/assault/hide from bandits without the 3rd party view! Hopes this brings a higher population to the servers.

Kick = immediate server log-off or not?
Smartsham replied to ibluesmani's topic in General Discussion
the abuse/exploit goes both ways. Perhaps a kick results in a message or countdown (10-15 secs) where you can still control your character. where as a traditional combat-log results in the deadly 30 second state. -
I do not. I have never been banned from any of the online games I've played. I've had a temporary suspension for something (something i said lol), and 1 account i didnt even play anymore was used by a farmer/item seller and was banned (i hadn't been on for a year). but that's about it, nothing to stress about.

this was in response to the title of your post. It didnt address your problem, but as i said earlier, did you get any error messages when you crash.
-
Just ignore it. He was just mad. Plus at this point in time it would be all but impossible for you to get flagged as a hacker, since there are no unique names and so many servers.
-
It does suck when you get a timer after crashing. A better course is to try to identify why you are crashing constantly instead of being mad and posting about the timer. Are there any error messages presented by your OS after you close/ terminate DayZ during the crash?

I did use the search bar, it turned up nothing. i searched a few different fields and a few keywords and phrases, nothing. Thanks for your help. Nothing.

Still have NEVER seen a FNX 45 Magazine at the NEA

They are quite a bitch to use anyway, after 5 or 6 days of playing ive got the map figured out, and there was no need. -
What the hell is this shit login timer?
Smartsham replied to johngrace's topic in General Discussion
The search bar seems to go off tag's in posts, not the actual wording of the post or comments. Or Ive always searched for things that didn't exist yet. -
I continue to see more gun suggestions/what weapon do you want threads that are accompanied by tons of KOS/Sniper frustration threads and did a little in game playing. I encountered a person about 25 or so meters from my position, armed only with a firefighter axe a M4, i chose not to reveal myself since my only two options were to trust him or kill him. That brought me to this: Why are there no less than lethal/crowd control items in game Items like these are designed to stun/disorient/incapacitate a subject w/o an overwhelming chance of killing them (There is always a chance). It would be nice to be able to temporarily subdue someone and handcuff them to perhaps ascertain their intentions instead of the usual three options (Kill, Hide,Trust/pray).Some of these items i suggest would be: Rubber bullets Stinger balls (basically a rubber bullet grenade) Tear Gas/Pepper Spray I know there are a lot more of these and some of them have a more civilian feel to them, things like pepper spray and mace would be much easier to find in our Dayz situation. Thanks for reading and feel free to make any suggestions for less than lethal additions. Note: I understand that the Devs are still working on the throwing physics in game making some of these items impossible at the moment.

So many guns? Less than lethal suggestion

I didn't even think of this. Quite an effective way to prevent these situations. Gave me an idea by the way! -

You haven't lived until you have had someone log on in the same building you are in. -

As with all loot in DayZ, sometimes its everywhere, sometimes its nowhere. Last week I had 3 compasses, havent found one since i died. Last week i had a supressor for an M4 and an atlas bipod, havent seen one in a week. LAST WEEK ALL I ATE WAS SPAGHETTI, NOW IM LIVIN ON BEANS... -

I am not sure what determines this timer, but the more you server jump, you get more 290 second waits. This happens on full and empty servers, so population is not the cause. -

Subdue was not my only concern, being able to disorient someone could also help with escape/evasion in dangerous situations. Being able to do this without a direct line of sight means you could avoid the risk of being killed in a situation where you get a random log on right next to you. EDIT: Any weapon that fires a metal bullet is lethal force...Perhaps an M203 grenade launcher with beanbag rounds for your m4? Sounds sexy -

It will say "You Have been Kicked From The Server" or some sorts but "Server is Full" if its full. -
Kick = immediate server log-off or not?
Smartsham replied to ibluesmani's topic in General Discussion
I have been kicked off servers before I even hit the spawn timer. On one occasion, the admin was talking to me and actually said "Look out for that zombie" as i noticed one coming directly from my right. This led me to think that not only could they have the info on the who's killing who, but possibly the ability to see your POV, or the general area you are in. A Confirm or Deny from a server admin would be greatly appreciated. I also agree that a thread is needed to report such servers, if you want a private server to be private, set a password. -
Ya but you also would take more than 20 min to recover your blood volume after eating beans, or becoming instantly hydrated after drinking a canteen of water. The game clock is a little faster. I do like this idea, but the time frame would have to be pushed up, say 2-3 days?
