How can you report an abusive server, when you don't know the provider?
Forrelist posted a topic in General Discussion
Hi there, I usually try to report every server that I witness that is clearly abusive and not following their terms and conditions. The server I am currently trying to report does not have their service provider in the name , so I cannot find out who to report them to. The server I'm currently trying to report has 'join and kick' in the title and it is only populated by a clan using it to arm up and jump onto a busy server. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post it , but the server in question is this one: https://www.gametracker.com/server_info/173.199.77.193:2302/ I have the I.P, evidence of unjust kicking, I just don't know who to report it to. Can anyone help? -

I not sure I follow then. If you don't want a PVP server, and it isn't a PVE server you want, then what does that leave? Roleplay? You can roleplay as much as you like I suppose, so long as you accept the fact that other players will always try to kill you and that HAS to be a part of the server you host. You don't have to be at Airstrips/Cities, that should cut down your chances of getting killed significantly, and you say that you aren't in it for the loot, so theres no need to be at the above two locations anyway. Oh and I would watch who you are calling a hypocrite. Not everyone server hops for gear :) -

Not being rude, but I'm having trouble understanding what you are saying, you should use Google translate if English isn't your first language. I think you are arguing that PVP'ers are the only ones getting enjoyment from the game. You are proposing that there should be PVE servers. In this case, I would argue what would the point in the game be? You get gear and run around doing nothing for hours? PVP might not be your cup of tea, but it is a part of DayZ, that is the game that you paid for , and the game you are playing. -

I think you have every right to moderate your own server. You can kick people who are exploiting, you can remove cheaters, racists, flamers, and so on. What you do not have, is the ability to kick people willy-nilly and turn your server into a private loot farm. The reason you cannot do this is because it is unfair to the people who have to work hard for their own gear, and loot farmers just jump on busy servers and slaughter everyone. I hope this gave you some insight. -
Could just be Desync or lag, coincidence, or maybe your friends aren't doing the 'double tap' on W

If you're talking about this thread: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/158966-dayz-standalone-server-hosting-rules-server-reporting/ I am aware of it, I just don't know how to find this particular servers host. -
Aye. One thing Origins had going for it was, it was kinda fun and risky to go harvest all the materials you needed to build a base. You didn't go out seeking PVP at this stage, you had to 'lay low' or risk losing everything you had spent days trying to harvest. Once someone found you trying to get rocks or build a base they would terrorise you until you gave up. This is me hoping that base building , barricading, survival and vehicle maintenance will consume more of the players time.

A good firefight never loses it's appeal. I usually head down to Elektro and try to get the people who like to set up camp on the very very top of the hospital.

What do you think full modding support will do to DayZ
Forrelist replied to Jex's topic in General Discussion
Any chance we can just discuss modding support without having an argument in the thread, no? -
One negative I can see from this that has been posted in the thread before me is the fact that many people, myself included use that 'dot' to pick up items that appear to be out of reach, or simply do not appear in the vicinity pickup for whatever reason. There are many places: metal racks, military beds, on top of lockers and so on, that have items you cannot get without the little dot to help you.

This is the kind of content I want to see. Community submitted maps, weapons, vehicles, clothing, accessoriess and more. Gamemodes: not so much. I'm not interested in Epoch, or Overwatch where you parachute in with an mp5, find a humvee with a 50cal and go build a doomfort that other players get teleported away from if they try to walk near it. -
I've actually had this myself recently. Got in a firefight at NEAF , was trapped in the control tower, peeked out the mid window and got shot by a guy right outside. It gave me the usual "I think my arm is broken", "I'm bleeding stuff, but I still managed to fire a shot off at him, and then I died about two seconds later. It might just be Desync, but he should have just killed me there and then , the fact that I was able to return fire and hit him was a bit cheap.

Should we all start off with a pistol in Dayz Standalone?

The only reason it worked in the mod was because the Makarov couldn't do enough damage to chip someones teeth. Even then it got removed. -

A bit late to the party , but all I can say is Taviana and Namalsk better make a comeback! -
What an original idea, I bet the medics have never had someone try this before! <_<

DayZ should always be about survival...
Forrelist replied to Mukaparska's topic in General Discussion
If anyone was placed in a situation like this irl , their first priorties would be to find shelter, or build makeshift housing and get food. I don't see why this is a problem., People still need to venture out for supplies and ammunition etc. Okay maybe security cameras and whatnot is maybe going a bit too far, but I don't recall anyone posting about them? Base building and barricading is fine. -
This Article http://www.relyonhorror.com/latest-news/dean-hall-reveals-dayz-2014-roadmap-at-egx-rezzed/ might interest you: "For starters, the very next update, which is scheduled to drop in between two weeks to the end of April, will be the survival update. In this update, bows and arrows, crossbows, fireplaces, and network optimization will be found. In the short term (Q2), ragdoll physics for players, revamped AI for zombies and animals, 64-bit servers, 6 animal types, persistent objects, and world containers (cupboards, refrigerators) are scheduled. For Q3, Bohemia is looking to bring more players and creatures into online servers. Animal behavior will also range from hostile, passive, and companion. Barricading, basic vehicles (bikes, ATV, motorcycles), mod support (with Steam Workshop), Steam achievements, and persistent growing plants such as edible fruit and vegetables are also planned. Currently the game only has wild berries and inedible pumpkins. In the long term (Q4), the team is aiming to add advanced vehicles (cars, planes, boats), structure creation, faction identification (e.x. bandits), and advanced player trading."

Historically, AAA Titles have usually taken around 1-2 years to become fully developed and then released. Keep in mind that games such as Skyrim, Call of Duty , Left 4 Dead etc etc never offered a mass-scale Alpha testing 'Early access' period that DayZ offers. This means that you get to play the game in tandem to its development. It's actually a fairly recent trend that many games have started to adopt in the past years, following the Minecraft model. The problem is people buy it and expect to be playing a full game in Alpha stage. I've seen it in Minecraft, Prison architect, Kerbal and Rust - people pay for early access and get themselves disappointed that the game isn't complete as early as they had hoped. My only advice to you, would be to come back in 6month to 1 year and see the game when it is a more content-filled state. Some of us , such as myself, are here to play the Alpha as it comes, do some testing, or just watch development through livestreams and not play until a full release. To answer your question though: We have been kept waiting due to delays, but the updates on DayZ have always had a fair bit of content: the last patch fixed disconnecting issues, added many new weapons and items ingame. I would argue that the quality of the updates is better than the speed to which they are delivered. Hope that helps, It's better than the usual ALPHAA!!!! response

So there isn't 200 Empty servers. Fact of the matter is people are greedy. that's just the way of it sadly...
-
I thought this was going to be a suggestion where less populated servers would have less loot. This would help combat server hopping But then again, there would be no incentive for people to join empty servers at all, which might be a problem.

Fellow bandits: Ever done anything you ever actually felt bad about?
Forrelist replied to Weedz's topic in General Discussion
Saw a dude coming up the stairs in the TEC building in Elektro. I raised my rifle and he just stopped dead in his tracks. Didn't even try to run away or beg for his life. There was a good 3 seconds where we both knew what the outcome was going to be. I shot him dead with one accurate blast to the chest from my Mosin and checked his loot. He had a childs backpack, batteries, paper, weapon cleaning kit, a gas stove and a screwdriver, as well as the orange raincoat he was wearing. The guy was obviously new to the game and didn't know that half the stuff he was collecting is useless. I felt really bad for killing him after that :( -
Make sure its actually dead.
