Does anyone dislike the "no military stuff" agrument?
Forrelist replied to stielhandgranate's topic in General Discussion
I like variety. A mix of both Civillian and Military , so to speak. So naturally I dont mind seeing new military weapons in development, just another toy to play with, and the more they add - the harder it gets to find ammo, or magazines for one specific weapon system. This could probably explain why we haven't seen the SVD yet, even though it has been a finished asset for quite some time. If they added it with the current weapon pool, every bandit who camps that hill in elektro/ apartments in cherno etc.. would have plentiful ammo and magazines because there isn't enough of the other stuff to cause massively spread variety. -
If you ever played Namalsk for DayZ Mod (my favourite DayZ mod) the developer that made it had actually somehow managed to make a completely subterrianian complex. I think it was called Object A2 or so, and it spawned various high end military loot, making it a common pvp hotspot. You went into a bunker, climbed a ladder down and you were in a stalker-esque area with abandoned soviet-style computer stations etc. Not a clue how they managed to do it, given the map restrictions - but I don't think it would be impossible by any means.

Do you guys like the locked doors idea?
Forrelist replied to sketch814's topic in General Discussion
The only bad thing I think that could come from this would be combat logging. Example, players sniping from the windows at a control tower on one of the airfields. They lock the door and just shoot everyone that approaches. As soon as someone starts trying to break down the locked door, the players just combat log and by the time the attackers are inside, the defenders have left the server. -
Is it worth buying Dayz standalone yet? [With Developer responses]
Forrelist replied to Blade4777980's topic in General Discussion
bump: My reply to the reddit thread which discusses the same issue. Thought I might share how I feel with you guys too. I would say right now, No. It's been taking shape slowly but surely the past few months, but I am taking an indefinite break until there is more of a fleshed out game. I don't want to burn myself out on it while it's still barebones. I don't regret buying the Standalone at all, it's been almost an entire year since the first release and I can see how different it was from then to now. I would just play the Mod: many Vehicles, Different maps, a plethora of different DayZ mod's (Dayzero, Overwatch, Epoch) , some of them are PVP focused, some of them are roleplay focused - there's something for everyone. This is what I envision the Standalone to be some day. When that day comes, then I will say it is worth buying. edit: I have played 300 Hours. The worst thing was trying to get friends who had never even played the mod before into DayZ standalone. I think the biggest issue with the game currently has to be how BUGGY and CLUNKY it feels to play. What am I talking about? Getting punched through walls by a zombie Getting injured by a zombie hitting the air where you were 10 seconds ago. Trying to pull out a weapon, it not working, then when you eventually pull it out you just put it away again. Not being able to hear people shooting. Phantom zombie noises Randomly getting your character reset for no good reason. The fact that half the melee weapons are absolutely useless and cannot even hit correctly, or do way less damage than, for example a machete or baseball bat impact would cause. Add this to the glitchy zombie problem , and a new player with no knowledge about the broken melee weapons will have a severe rage quit because they cannot even fight the zed's. Loading into the game to "you are unconscious" because a zombie beat you 20 times before you had even loaded up the game correctly. Rare Items getting ruined from ONE HIT from a zombie. Infuriating. Also, a metallic pistol getting destroyed by a zombie punching is ridiculous. I could go on, but the above list is just a select few of the reasons, that anyone I've tried to get to enjoy the game has just had, understandably, less patience in the game than I have and not returned. Its sad, but I just can't get new players interested in a broken experience. That's just the short of it. To reiterate. When the above list is sorted, I think things could be different. I haven't given up on DayZ yet though, I love reading the development blogs every week, and seeing how things are coming along. I really hope that I can say there will come a time when I can make the same good memories from the mod occur within similar and unique experiences occur with the standalone that aren't ruined by small issues. -
So, In the latest patch I have noticed a surge of cheaters, scripters and hackers. Just today for example, in Elektro, I was in one of the tall house overlooking the firestation because I heard gun shots. The door behind me was closed. Suddenly. Chop. Chop. Chop. I hear an axe swinging near me. I look around and nobody is even in the room. "You are unconscious". After dying I went back, and miraculously all my gear was still intact. Except my boots. Okay then. Trying to leave, and going downstairs it happened again. Chop. Chop. Chop. Dead. A buddy I was playing with was in Berezino while all this was going down, and was telling me how a gang of four had held him up, no backpacks on, all with SKS's and identical gear. Apparently they had identified him by name from a distance, and were calling him out. How could they have this information at all? These are two examples, JUST FROM TODAY. but I have been getting killed by phantoms on busy servers rather too frequently for my liking. I have seen them since the release, but they seem to be at their worst at this current point in time. Anyone else noticing a surge in cheating going on right now? It's really putting me off playing for a while. Edit: In my reddit post history, from a few days ago I was also killed by a cheater who was forcing me to drop my weapon rapidly, so he could kill me with a melee weapon. This is just another example.

Why nobody want to play in the night time?
Forrelist replied to MrKartel's topic in General Discussion
Number of reasons personally. It's hard enough to get rid of a zombie smashing you through a wall during Daytime, letalone dark where you can never find it. Second reason, I don't think night is done very well and looks quite unappealing. It literally goes pitch black. I mean you would at least expect your characters eyes to adjust like they do irl. -
To all those complaining about not finding mags ..
Forrelist replied to Oyface's topic in General Discussion
NWAF Tents? If anything, your post only HIGHLIGHTS the issue. Sure you have plenty of AK magazines, and makarov mags, which seems to spawn in abundance in the tents. But people are unhappy that the other pistols (can't remember the last time I actually saw an FNX mag) , and the MP5 as well are difficult, in comparison to their rifle counterparts - when it should be the other way around. -

A couple new things from this weeks Status Report
Forrelist replied to Forrelist's topic in General Discussion
I'm not really too sure. I'm not american, but I would guess a plastic bag that is as big as a dime? Edit: Well half correct.. I'm informed that it's what 'muricans refer to for a ziplock baggie of weed. TIL! well that ties in with the 'drugs' theory above :) -
Firstly, if you haven't already, I would suggest reading the status report: http://dayz.com/blog/status-report-week-of-01-sept-14 Now, some smaller things that I found interesting from this weeks status report: Radio Cassette player: Could this be from the videos of the pre-alpha where dean showcased playing music of different types, and you could potentially bait players with it? AKS74U : Noice!, hopefully that means that the AK74 and all the other soviet bloc weapons that use 5.45 * 39mm can make an appearance. Dillenger Pistol: Stabbing your 'new friends' in the back just got easier! Rejoice! Pack of cigarettes & bottle of vodka: Sweet! this could maybe be an introduction to drugs, and the potential effects that they give.. i.e using cigarettes to reduce stress, or maybe even making a molotov cocktail with vodka bottles and the petrol pumps I'm hyping a little hard, but I see a lot of awesome things from this weeks update!

I think that is the case. At least I hope so. I would like the weapons to be LOUD as well.

Tell your friend to stop talking out his arse.

Oh god I can see it already. Reddit is already Hyping vehicles , I bet its just something much smaller, and everyone will play the disappointment card. Can't wait for all the threads ..

Should Rocket go sooner rather than later?

I believe this to be correct.
