Yeah, this "gem" did need a new thread. This thread points out an issue with the level of ease regarding looting major coastal towns and, presumably, other towns in an unintentional way. In addition, it points out the flaws with the new los/zombie awareness changes. The new addition of los isn't useful enough in the wilderness - leading to unfair difficulty for those players who spawn in areas devoid of physical objects to los the enemies that they have no weapons to defeat. In cities, however, the issue is quite the opposite. The los system allows the player so much freedom with regard to avoiding the zombies that they can practically be filtered out as background noise. It's my honest opinion that the los system be removed until it's fine-tuned and the zombie awareness should be reset to the previous patch's awareness levels until an acceptable balance, or a more finely tuned los system, allows for these issues to be addressed.

Does anyone know of any daytime only servers? Preferably US. A friend and I are just getting into the game and, unfortunately, the time we have available to play is pretty much always at night, which sucks for us. That being said, we'd like a server that has perm. daytime so that we can get to understand the game a bit before being stuck playing in the dark 90% of the time.

What's up with the group chat channel? I saw in a server's game list (before getting in on your character) that one of the players was also a group leader and so this had me wondering if there was any correlation between that chat channel and his role as a "group leader." Is it possible to form a group between you and other players and use that channel or something?

Ah gotcha. Thanks for the clarification!

Ah I see. So the consensus is that servers with offset timezones are the way to go. Thanks for the heads up guys!

A friend of mine started playing this a few days before me (I was still downloading Arma II during that time) and was completely overwhelmed by the controls of the game. He was ready to quit, then and there, but has promised to play the game with me on Friday, giving it a real chance, if I'm able to get a grip on how the game works by then. That being said, I've pretty much done just that. I know how to perform basic gameplay actions and whatnot and all that's really left to figure out, with one exception which I'll address in a moment, is to figure out Mod-specific features - such as repairing vehicles and whatnot (which I already have a good idea on how to go about doing.) That being said, this post is asking about the "Fast Forward" feature. My friend, apparently, activated some sort of fast forward feature that was similar to sprinting when he was playing without me. Now I, personally, have not seen this feature nor have I been able to activate it, but he says he has and was confused as to what the difference was between that and sprinting. Anyone have any ideas? He said he just noticed that fast forward seemed to make more sound or something.

My friend, Nekrage, and I came up with the idea of a radio item. Similar to the utility provided by a map and compass, this radio, when found and taken with you, will allow a player to communicate with other players who have radios on their inventory. I don't necessarily mean voice chat as I, personally, prefer to keep voice chat to Ventrilo only, but rather text chat as well. I don't know anything about the limitations of Arma II's engine or anything like that, so I can't speculate on how to make such a concept work. I could go on with little intricacies about this idea, but I think that just by throwing the concept of radio-based chat out there I have done enough. Anything further is for the developers to mull around I suppose.

To be honest I'm not really sure what exactly I mean. He just called it fast forward - although it may be the speeding up and slowing of time that you're talking about. I can speculate the purposes for which time manipulation would be used in Arma II, despite having not played it, but I can't see how it would be usable in DayZ, being a multiplayer game and whatnot.

I'm sorry if this has already been asked, but I'm a total noob to Dayz, let alone Arma II itself. What is Beta? I occasionally see servers that support beta and whatnot so I assumed that Beta was a newer version of Dayz or something. Apparently, however, this "beta" is like a version of Arma or something. What's the point of using it? Should I have it installed? I'd appreciate some clarification if possible :o

Ah thanks a lot! Now I know exactly why I should be installing it haha. Thanks again man :)
