They're infected living, not animated dead. This has been confirmed on multiple occasions. & us survivors are immune to the infection

If I get trapped in a house, I would rather take my own life before any zeds or bandits have the liberty of doing so ;) Go out like a boss

What's up y'all, I was watching the Rezzed presentation & Rocket talked about something that really grabbed my interested; accelerated time & the day/night cycle. He talks about it at 28:35 in the livestream http://www.twitch.tv/egx/b/514982641 Just curious how the community would like to see the day/night cycle behave on hardcore. I'd personally like to see 2 full cycles in a full 24 hours.

Just invited a few friends to come play with me the last few days.

Assume that anyone WILL kill you, & tackle the situation accordingly. -Travel in groups (there's power in numbers) -Stay off the main roads -Communicate -Be patient, know your surroundings before proceeding -Treat every encounter with caution -Keep your head on a swivel & don't turn your back to anyone If you're the friendly & moral type, simply disarm other players when you come across them. Let them live & carry on. -
What's up y'all, In all seriousness, this isn't a racial remark, a troll, or anything of that nature but; My default char is an Asian male with a white t-shirt, green jeans, & black shoes. My reason for posting this is because for some reason, my character can outrun every single person I've encountered. & I've only noticed this since making my default character Asian. No matter who it is, when sprinting with someone, both of us have our fists up, I always travel slightly faster. I feel ignorant for posting something like this, but it's something that I've legitimately experience respawn after respawn while playing as an Asian male (My default use to be white male & I had never noticed me being able to outrun people). Anyone else experience this? Can anyone shed some light? Again, I'm sorry if I sound ignorant or if anyone takes offense to this, but this is something I've been consistently experiencing. EDIT: To my understanding, loot doesn't have a weight system yet, correct? (i.e. carrying a lot of loot won't slow you down)

You can never be too considerate ;) To everyone else that's commented on here, thank you. I'll try to capture some footage of what I'm experiencing & report back

I Voted: Fun Necessary Like a box of chocolates :beans:

Cool, thanks! I'm starting to think the underlying issue lies elsewhere other than the default char settings
-
Thank you .. I'll check it out

Wow I never knew this!! That's definitely the most logical explanation I've heard yet. Can anyone else confirm this?
-
Thanks for the quick reply .. I've considered all of these & I've been experiencing this countless times. No red/yellow desync chain in lower right corner on the HUD, ping is all good, I don't know what to think any more lol. I wish I could provide you guys with footage but I don't have any recording software. If someone could recommend a free & reliable recording software for me to try out that would be great.

Hi all, I know that this concept has been touched before, but I was unable to find a thread on the same ideas as mine. Anyway, my concept basically is to make ammo as scarce as possible once the game is a finished product. It should really be a rarity, in the sense that it shall never be taken for granted. -This would deter KOS. Not eliminate, but "deter" (water it down). I believe KOS will never be eliminated, ever. But I absolutely do believe that it can be reduced. Now I'm not one to complain about KOS as it's truly a part of the game & I believe that it's the victims fault for getting into the shooters sight in the first place (this is survival), but I do believe that it's not the concept that drives this game. DayZ (the finished game on paper) is not a shooter. If ammo were a true rarity, players would think twice before wasting 1 of their 7 FXN45 rounds that took them a week to find on a worthless fresh spawn, or would try to apprehend a geared player by outplaying them. Not by gunning them down because they have 100+ rounds to waste because they're a dime a dozen. Every shot must count. -Firefights would be that much more exhilirating. Again, you must make every shot count, & there's no telling how much ammo your opponent has (the assumption is not very much). In the games current state, any armed geared player that you see, you could make the assumption that he has AT LEAST a mag or 2. It's more common than not. -Purpose. It would give the players something to always do. Something they always need, something to always thrive for, & a priority in looting. It would add value to being armed. Ammo could potentially even serve as currency if this were the case. -Player choice. Ammo scarcity would drive player rolls, & players decisions. Would you use rounds for hunting & potentially leave yourself that much more defenseless, or would you save ammo & put in the extra effort to hunt using a less accurate, less powerful makeshift bow? Would you use rounds as a threat while robbing people (warning shots to avoid damaging gear)? Or would you horde rounds strictly for defense & fire only when absolutely necessary? -Hearing gunshots would be that much more suspenseful. If ammo were scarce, hearing rounds go off wouldn't be the most common thing. This would make the player with the ammo think before shooting, in order to not give away his position. & the player that heard the shot, would be in a world of paranoia even more than they would in the game's current state. -Teamwork. I feel that the scarcity of ammo would drive players to work more together, more so in a "Player vs Environment" aspect. If the finished game is to be truly densely populated with stronger, faster zeds, it would be wise to travel in groups to defend one another where you would otherwise be outnumbered. So that's a general summary of my concept. All-in-all, if ammo were rare, any situation involving it would be extremely suspenseful as it would in real life. It should be something to appreciate, to not take for granted, to admire when finally found. It should be precious. Again, I know that this subject has been spoken about before, & if I'm not mistaken, the devs idea IS to make ammo more scarce I'm just not sure to what extent or exactly how they see fit. Comments? Thoughts?

Thank you for this. This was the initial point I was trying to make ... beans To contribute to this; I feel that a lot of KOS scenarios are medium to long range. Now if the shooter in said KOS scenario had only 2 rounds that were fairly difficult to obtain, I think he would explore his options before taking a shot like it's second nature.
-
Yes, but hand to hand combat leaves a player with a chance to defend himself
-
The idea isn't to eliminate serverhopping & basecamping by limitation. Server hopping will be eliminated once private hives are established in the finished product. The idea was to heighten tension when an armed player is present. To make players have to make crucial choices when using ammo because it's so valuable.

I never prioritized this reason over others. I simply spoke on behalf of it first. My general point is that it would add more depth in terms of looting & purpose. I also never said to entirely remove ammo, so I'm not sure why you're referencing "(by product of no ammo)"

If you had read my original post you would understand that this topic isn't about KOS.
