Stop letting people get so close to you.

I really just can't see this having it's own place in the game. I don't support it.

I definitely like the idea, but I feel that it's up to the players to decide. I don't think any admins should try to "force" things such as safe zones. If it's safe, it's safe, if not, it's not. In real life scenarios, safe zones become safe zones for a number of reasons. It could be a low-traffic area, very minimal zombie population, not easily accessible (rough terrain), close by to resources (water, wood, etc.), things such as that. The place should have a history behind it, & a legitimate reason as to why it is "safe". Not simply because an admin says "don't do this while you're in this area". Once private servers & persistant loot/storage/base-building are implemented, this could very much become a reailty. It's up to YOU to establish a community. Find the designated area that you'd like to consider a safe zone or trading post, preferably one that only has one way in & one way out so it can be monitored. Gather a group of supporters. People who share the same idea as yours. People who could benefit from joining your community as long as they can provide a service to it such as gathering food to bring back, gathering resources, guarding posts, building vehicles. etc. Once you have an established area/community, treat it how you want it to be treated. If you want to openly welcome new comers to trade goods, treat it as such. When someone approaches, don't shoot on sight, ask their intentions, & ask them what they have to offer or if they'd like to see what you have up to trade. Do the deal, & send them on their way. If you like their attitude, ask them to join your community. If you do this successfully enough, you'll start to earn a reputation. It will become a known thing that you have a legitimate, professional, established, safe zone/trading post tied to one server (until you decide to switch servers). If the people you recruit to join your community are unprofessional, & just kill anything that moves, then that's the reputation that your zone is going to gain. You have the tools at your disposal, & reputation is everything.

I'll have to respectfully say no to this. Speaking in regards to the game's finished state, zombies are the theme of the game. They add variety, & they'll most definitely be a real threat once the game is finally finished because as of right now, the zeds are just a placeholder. I feel that removing zombies entirely is just promoting much more PvP & is just one step closer to being another first-person shooter. Now once they're an actual threat, it will force players to band together to defend themselves against the zeds. To me, the game consists of 3 core aspects: -Player vs Player -Player vs Environment -Player vs Zombies I absolutely do not support making this game that much "easier" by removing an entire element of the game. That's just simply not what DayZ is about.

I've most commonly found FNX mags in the downstairs back room of military jailhouses, for the 1911 I've found mags in the upstairs room of the same building -
please tell me rocket wont be adding horror aspect to the game
blunce replied to bioned's topic in General Discussion
The game is already defined as a "Post-apocolyptic horror-survival MMO" .. So that being said, yes, DayZ is a horror game. Not a very good one at the moment, but most definitely when it is finished. -
Hi all, I've always found the need for a "be quiet" gesture along with the other gesture animations on the function keys. There's been multiple occasions when I'm trying to be stealthy, & a player discovers me & wants to make small talk. I don't want to shoot them. Mainly because it would give away my position, but other reasons would be that they don't pose a threat, I don't prefer the KoS mentality, & it's simply just not necessary (if they were a threat they would've just shot me instead of trying to engage in conversation). So, this brings me to my idea of creating a "be quiet" or a "shhh!" animation. A simple raise of your index finger & placing it over your lips. Seems to me that it would be easy enough to implement, & would be used very frequently by players that need to communicate without making a sound (given that they're not using a 3rd party comms system). But again, this is in the scenario that you stumble across a stanger that is so very eager to just blow up both of your positions by using direct chat. I'd just like to hear some opinions from the community

Anyone worried there will be too many ammo types ?

The more variety the better .. more rare as well -
I can definitely see your point Katana, especially in the games current & clunky state. I use K&M so accessability to the keys hasn't really been an issue for me. & in all fairness, SWAT teams & special forces take their finger off the trigger to utilize body language for communications :D

I believe you can still make some gestures as of right now while still keeping your gun out, no? Such as waving or flipping the bird?

This is PAX, Boston, correct?

Bruh .. nah. To the yard with you.

I want vehicles whenever they're finished, regardless of how long it takes

So anyone who has been keeping themselves up to date with the developers of DayZ would already know that we have a patch inbound by the end of this month (April) A few of the main highlights of the next update are the new throwing physics, & the ability to light flammable objects on fire. What better time to implement molotovs now that we're getting both throwing physics & fire? They could be a craftable item that require a bottle of alcohol & a rag to make. Whenever you want to use it, put the molotov in your hands, & drag a box of matches over it, & it's now on fire ready to be thrown. Throw it, & watch the radius of where it landed burn for X amount of seconds (think Counter-Strike: GO). This could vary as we haven't yet seen what will actually be "flammable" & what will not in game. What we can expect in the next update has really inspired this idea & this is something I would love to see in game. Feel free to post any opinions as to way this should or should not be put into the game.

Man I really hope not

link to confirm?

Well, we do already have fire exstinguishers in game although they're not functional.........yet ;)

I keep seeing in the update details that "Players will be able to create fires and light flammable objects on fire" Now maybe I just interpreted this wrong? You would think they would refer to it as "cooking", & not "the ability to light things on fire" if that were the case. Now if it is the former scenario (you can only make static campfires as opposed to lighting in-game objects on fire), then this isn't how I originally interpreted the initial update announcement. ALTHOUGH, I would still love to see molotovs in game even if this is a concept that would need to be worked from the ground up at this point in development. Again, think Counter-Strikes incendiaries & molotovs

I'll wait for the forum mods to move it ;)

Those things are subject to adding new content. Say they fix zombies & optimize performance & all is peachy. Roll out next update. Zombies are broken again & performance suffers. It's the adding of new content that creates the problems in the first place. That would have the dev team working ass-backwards.

1.) Bottles of alcohol are already configured in game 2.) X amount of seconds, again, this could vary on factors such as whether it's raining, whether you throw the molotov in the woods or on the non-flammable concrete, etc.) :P

The same planet where Dean stated that we will have the ability to light things on fire by the end of April 2014
