OP has already accomplished more than what most of us have here.

There is no law, the world has ended & governments are no more. +1 to the idea

Of course my friend. Let me know if there's anything I can help with.

I would come to such an event B)

What Max said^ IMO a lot of DayZ consumers are spoiled in a sense. They're use to the cookie-cutter routine of reading press reviews of games & buying finished titles. DayZ is one of the few, if not only early access title that appeals to the masses. A 3million copy sales figure very much shows that. Also, the price of the game will only go up. So you can always take advantage of that. You can't lose really.

Damn man, great video. That ending was fucking epic. Anyone who's reluctant in watching this because of the runtime, I strongly encourage you to reconsider & watch. If you like a good production. :)

Are you legitimately encouraging server hoping? Or are you trolling..

I know this. I play 1PP exclusively.

Jexter, I understand where you're coming from, I really do. DayZ is a game that thrives for authenticity, & 3PP exploits are detracting from that. My argument is that I truly believe that there is no practical solution. Sure you can do things such as restricting camera field of view, & potentially make it so other players don't render when there's an object between the two of you breaking your line of sight, but doing things like that then detract from other aspects of gameplay. If the 3PP camera becomes so tight & enclosed where you can barely see what's around you, what's the point? You might as well play 1PP at that point. & even so, people could still wall peek. It would just be a bit more difficult. If a mechanic is implemented that makes other players not render when out of line of sight, that's a huge immersion breaker. Players would behave like ghosts always appearing & disappearing. & I feel that the game would suffer more from that than the current wall-peeking exploit. It becomes a matter of where do the devs draw the line when trying to create this balance? With that said, I already think 3PP is already encroaching on that line. It's all risk vs. reward.
-
No, what I'm saying is that having players appearing, disappearing, & flickering on screen is unrealistic. I say that it's not broken because the game mode is working as it's intended. Sure, it's extremely exploitable, but it's working as it's intended. Again, that type of gameplay just comes with the territory of a 3rd person camera perspective, & I think trying to create all of these "workarounds" to put an end to wall-peeking is only going to create more issues than it solves.
-
Well in all fairness, it is just my opinion. & I believe that wall-peeking will be there forever because I just can't see the devs implementing something such as a mechanic that doesn't render other players when you're behind cover & those other players are out of your line of sight. That would be breaking realism far more than the wall-peeking itself. & I really see no other "solution". & I'm using that term loosely because we don't need a solution. Wall-peeking isn't broken.
-
I say it's fair because that's the kind of gameplay that comes with the 3PP territory. You're right, in the real world, yes; if you can see someone, they can see you. That's how light & the laws of physics works. But, you're playing from 3PP. & as long as you continue to play it, that's the kind of gameplay that comes with the territory. The most you can do is restrict the field of view. It's like the ongoing KoS argument, you can do everything in your power to deter it, but it'll forever be there.

I love everything about this^

I grasp that concept very well. You need to grasp the concept that the playing field is level because it will one day be you on said road & someone else behind said rock. Yes, the person hiding is at an advantage, because they have the element of surprise regardless of camera perspective. Back to my original analogy; it's like saying that the game is unfair because I found a gun before you did.

PSA: being kicked or banned from a server while driving a V3S now resets your character

OP, are you sure you weren't playing on a private shard? Or got 1PP & 3PP mixed up? -
A can of beans says he's still alive. :P

Did you put the knife in your hand..? lol It should've worked if you've done exactly what you describe. 1.) Put knife in hand. 2.) Press F11 (wait for animation to finish). 3.) Left mouse click.

The community's view of being able to respawn while unconscious?
blunce posted a topic in General Discussion
In my opinion, being able to respawn the moment you fall unconscious is detracting from certain aspects of gameplay. One of the biggest issues I have with this mechanic, is that torture/interrogation methods are effected by it. If I have someone handcuffed, & they're screaming & making an abundance of noise in-game in hopes that someone will hear them, I should be able to knock them unconscious to silence them, without them being able to "escape" the situation by respawning. It can be an issue before said player is even handcuffed. Sometimes I just want to immobilize a player without fatally shooting them, breaking their legs, or them being able to take the easy way out by respawning. In the event that my hostage is non-compliant with me handcuffing them, I do shoot them in the leg to immobilize them to then try & handcuff them. But now I'm faced with the problem of them crawling & spamming Q & E so that they keep moving & I can never successfully apply the handcuffs. I wouldn't have this issue if I could simply knock them unconscious, knowing that they can't respawn, handcuffing them, & waiting for them to return to consciousness. I think that clicking "respawn" the second you fall unconscious is a bit habitual for some players at this point too. They assume that they're done for & just don't want to wait. I also understand that it can sometimes take ages to actually regain consciousness, so, I think it would be sensible to add a 3, maybe 5 minute timer to your unconscious state before you can click respawn, in the event that you've lost so much blood that you're practically comatose. Thoughts on this? I'd also like to hear how the lack of an unconscious-state respawn timer has effected some of you guys' gameplay as well.- 32 replies

The community's view of being able to respawn while unconscious?

I'm sorry I should've worded that differently: Even if I knock you out, you have the ability to break out of the cuffs once you're awake. Given that you have healthy status, you'll only be unconscious for maybe 60 seconds maximum when someone punches you out. Really it's more like ~20 seconds.. & yes, good discussion. That's what this forum is all about my friend. ;) See I'm all for this as well. But, there will always be those circumstances where you're unconscious for hours on end to the point where you don't know if your game is broken or not lol. Maybe this is something that server owners will have more control over in the future. I remember reading somewhere that the devs intended on giving server owners the option to determine how long one would have to wait to start a new character once their previous character had died. Could be anywhere from 30 seconds (as it is now) to a full week. Man I can't wait to start seeing features like that. -

Again, you have the ability to break out of the cuffs, even if I knock you out. Also, logging out while restrained will result in the death of your character. Whether it's fight or flight, you have options while restrained. Being able to respwan when unconscious is just the cheap & easy way out. & you're welcome for avatar inspiration. -

But the logic is that the handcuffs are in-game already, & it's a matter of making them more viable to do what they're intended to do, which is restrain a player. Even so, when you're restrained you have the ability to break out of the cuffs. Trying to break out results in one of 2 things: You either break out, or the person that's taken you captive will kill you before you're able to break out -- Resulting in what you would have done in the first place; click respawn. Given that the handcuffs are working properly on any given build, you always have the ability to escape. Once DayZ gets closer to release, & there are far more factors that effect gameplay & your travels such as weight system, stamina, reduced running speed, etc. You might find yourself handcuffed far up North with plenty of valuable loot that took you months to acquire & weeks just to migrate to that region of the map. This game will get to the point where clicking 'respawn' holds a lot of weight to it, & you won't be able to get back to the status of your previous character within a day. Restraining players has it's place in-game & there are plenty of ways you can benefit from such a playstyle. For one, it creates a great encounter experience rather than treating the game like a deathmatch. You can rob a player ensuring that all of their loot is in the condition that it was when you encountered them. You can interrogate your hostage for valuable information (this will be even more viable once persistence is working, & people have established camps in hidden locations). You can use your hostage as bait, & ultimately, you can spare their life in the end result especially considering that come Quarter 3 of development in 2015, player's characters will have a life span & soft skills that hold value. Clicking 'respawn' won't always be in your favor in the DayZ world. & as others have said, if you really want to break free, just quit the server & start fresh. -
