An Easy Way to Explain Alpha - my favorite topic
blunce replied to RAM-bo4250's topic in General Discussion
How does this community not understand what "Alpha" means yet? BI strongly advised us to not by this game. Now I'm not saying that anyone is complaining in this particular thread, but people have no right in doing so. -
Well I've officially teamed up with a weed smoker.

Ohh, okay lol. I've never experienced them personally. But to my understanding it can go one way or the other. You have a bad trip & you'll be battling your brain for hours on end. Eating shrooms is literally intentionally giving yourself food poisoning for the desired effects. Hallucinogens just aren't for me. But to each their own. & what you choose to put in your body is your right as a human being. :) Just be smart about it. If you haven't experienced them yet, definitely educate yourself first. This is a great website filled with concrete knowledge & research pertaining to all drugs: http://www.erowid.com Users also share their personal experiences with all sorts of substances ranging anywhere from euphoria to train-wreck disasters. (Sorry for the pep-talk -- Just some friendly advice. & sorry for hijacking the thread ;) ) -

I hear you man, I was the same way when I first started playing. Although I've been a marijuana user far longer than I've been playing DayZ. This game really does just do that to people -- make them paranoid. & of course the ambient noises don't help at all lol. Not sure what zoomers are. Be safe & don't do anything stupid. :) -

As others have said, the effects of marijuana are very subjective to the user. If it weren't for my name, no one would know I'm a cannabis enthusiast. ;) & I'm sure you've encountered far more stoners in-game than you're aware of. Sounds like this one particular guy just couldn't handle his substance. Everyone hates that guy when the blunt is in rotation  -

Once bicycles are in, player speed is going to be reduced drastically. According to the devs, players run at roughly 30km/h at the moment. Which is essentially how fast you could move on a bicycle anyway. So once we see them in-game, you'll be traveling fairly slow to find said bicycle. & it'll be that much more time-consuming if you need to repair it. Be thankful for what you have now ;) -
Got my first two PVP kills in dayZ today.

Reason why People See so Many Hackers.
blunce replied to over9000nukez's topic in General Discussion
Yes, hackers most definitely favor regular mode. -
I thought so too. It didn't take long to comprehend that you're unclear of what "alpha" means. The things that you're asking for not only cater to YOUR vision of how the game should be created, but are all subject to change at a moments notice. Not to mention that everything you've already mentioned has been brought up & suggested countless times. Again, everything that you've suggested is how YOU feel it's intended to be. Regardless, you're already experiencing a handful of in-game mechanics as the devs "intend" them to be. Ultimately, you're asking for a finished product. Which DayZ in it's current state, is not. The only thing that I've derived from this post is "this needs to be changed now". Here's my opinion: No, it does not. We're in alpha stages. We're suppose to be testing, regardless of how many people simply play it for enjoyment & don't view this as a testing/developmental period. The devs already have their roadmap laid out. You know just as well as I do that you can play the game as you see fit once we reach beta status. Don't try to rush things simply because what you have at the moment isn't your cup of tea. Okay, let's say the devs do this. The following week they add a new weapon & a new food model. Now nobody can find the new items & both testing & bug-fixing suffer & are now rolling at a snails pace. Devs combat this by now drastically increasing both food & weapon spawns so the players can find them more easily & test them. Why would the devs work ass-backwards & make all of that extra work for themselves? At that rate this game will never reach the state that you want it to in a timely manner. The direction that this game is going in is not a reflection of the finished product whatsoever. Not even close. How can we properly experience survival when people are dropping like flies due to server desync? The devs are working on much more important matters at hand to even begin to try to tighten this game up to even barely reflect what it's intended to be come release date. I personally have a very minimal amount of programming knowledge but I know for a fact that the devs are working on FAR more than what meets the average DayZ player's eye. If they tried to explain coding to you I'm sure you would be left dumbfounded. I would. This is why I say that you don't understand what alpha means. Was this intelligent enough for you? Anyone can make redundant posts regarding subjects that they have limited knowledge about. & wouldn't consider it a cheap shot. It was just an easier response compared to this post. My momma tells me I'm special

No, you don't.

POLL: What if DayZ was made by a different company?
blunce replied to The Aquatic Land Walrus's topic in General Discussion
If DayZ were made by a different company, then it wouldn't be DayZ. Simple as that. Would look, feel, & play entirely different. & this topic wouldn't exist considering we're on the DayZ forums ;) For what it's worth I didn't vote. I feel it's redundant. -

The only thing that's kept playstation on my radar is TLoU. Incredible game.

A complete wipe of the stable hive is inbound. But as soon as tomorrow? Unlikely.

TLDRAlphaGame in it's current state is not a reflection of the finished product. If in-game content were so scarce, we wouldn't be able to test.Zombie difficulty is rather subjective.I could make a list that goes on & on. There are many threads much like yours. My best advice is to enjoy what you have now, or come back during beta. In the end, DayZ is still a game. BTW welcome to the forums :)

Hunting backpack. Allows me to look over my shoulder, it's camouflaged, & provides the most slots along with those 2 assets.

IMO, there should be so much content that it would be virtually impossible to achieve the "end-game". Because essentially, as long as you're alive, you've already achieved the end-game. After all, it is all about survival.

Well of course, I haven't lost my conscience entirely yet lol  I perceived this as Bigbadchuck asking us how we viewed him. & I was responding saying that our opinion really doesn't matter in such a world. If it's a matter of morals, then yes you're very right. :) OP is good-hearted considering his approach.

Will devs manage to bring new patch to stable by the end of August? [POLL]
blunce replied to kakysas666's topic in General Discussion
Well I wouldn't take it that far. I made my comment based on the extremely minimal amount of video game development knowledge that I have. The devs (the one's with the extensive programming knowledge) will push the patch when they deem it ready. I can't even begin to have an opinion. How do I know what circumstances they're facing? Does it really make a difference if the patch comes out September 1st as apposed to August 31st? Or does that not qualify as "end of the month"? My faith is that BI will do their job, & give us a finished product in X amount of days. They've done an incredible job thus far & in a timely manner. Just let them do their job. I just personally feel that such a topic is redundant. I'm sorry if you disagree. -
This^. Also, if you can remember what server you were on, frequent it a lot. Most players/clans have a few servers that they favor. So more likely than not, they'll be back on there again I would think. Little story of my own: I once met a cool dude at the shipwreck. We chatted for a bit, & both intended on going to NEAF, so we decided to travel together. Made small talk along the way, & eventually made our way to Krasno. As we entered the city, we started taking fire, & retreated into a piano house. We went upstairs & watched the staircase, waiting for our attackers approach. We kept communication at this point to a minimum, because we hadn't exchanged info yet, were talking in-game VOIP, & didn't want the shooters to hear us. All-in-all, our attackers killed both of us inside the piano house. As a fresh spawn I traveled the cost for a bit, searching for my newly-befriended diseased homie with no luck & I logged off for the night. Logged back on the next day, in the same server, & happened to come across my friend from the shipwreck. Once we realized that we knew eachother from the day before, we exchanged info & laughed about the whole matter for the rest of the day while looting. We still roll together to this day. Anything is possible.

As Caboose said, bandicam. I have a few buddies that use it on average rigs & they say the quality is great. I personally use Shadowplay (Nvidia's free software that comes with any Nvidia GPU. I believe you need a 650ti or higher though. So if you've got an Nvidia card, definitely check out Shadowplay. I'm more than happy with it.
